Shun met us at our Cruise Ship in Sakaiminato with a Taxi that he had prearranged for us. We drove to Matsue to visit the historical Matsue Castle and other sites in the Town of Matsue. After a terrific Japanese lunch in a converted Samauri Residence we then traveled on to the Adachi Museum and Gardens. Shun was professional and informative. We enjoyed his company and sense of humor. We learned a great deal about life in Japan from Shun and we will always remember fondly our wonderful day with him.
Thank you for your review. Two weeks already passed from the day we met, but I still remember how you enjoyed the tour so clearly. It was a little surprise for me that you were appreciating Japanese paintings more enthusiastically than gardens at Adachi Museum. In my experience, visitors generally just watch the displays perfunctorily there. I was glad to know that you really understood my, a little, specialized explanations. As for your words in the review "We learned about life in Japan", I suppose you mean that I talked about my family and religious customs. Especially, I'll never forget that you expressed hearty condolences to my lost of father's passing. Let me add one more comment. I found two Canadians, modest and decent.
Hi Shun-San was a pleasure to work with, very detail oriented before our arrival to Japan so we had a plan of what we would be seeing. We toured Matsue Castle, walked to old town. Went to a Samarai house and had the local special soba noodles. In the afternoon we went to Adachi Museum, a spectacular place! Overall, I would highly recommend. He was prepared, had great stories and knowledge or the area, a pleasure to work with. This area shouldn’t be missed.
Hi Cori-san, thank you very much for writing a review immediately. The honor is more than I deserve. To tell the truth, I had been concerned about your response. Since the weather was bad on the day, I supposed you couldn't have felt truly satisfied. However, Shimane is one of the least-unvisited prefectures in Japan, still largely undiscovered by international tourists. I wish you would visit this area again. Thank you, Cori-san.
Shun was a great guide with excellent knowledge of his surrounding. We appreciated his choices of what we saw. The Tea Ceramony was one of the highlights of the culture that we witnessed. Shun gave us an itinerary prior to us going so that we had some input. None of our input was required because of the great choices he made. Thank you Shun. See you on our return. GT
Thank you for your review. I am greatly honored by your words. To tell the truth, I felt worried because I had not been sure that you had really enjoyed the tour in Matsue. My recommendation for lunch, "Izumo soba noodles", were they good ? Traditional style tea ceremony, was it actually enjoyable? However, I'm jealous, you are incredibly nice family. You told me about your experiences of other travels. How interesting! I realized again that meeting people like you is one of the perks of guide. I'd love to see you again.
Before arriving Mr. Shun very communicative and made an effort to learn our preferences, so we could maximize our day in Kyoto. He picked up at Kobe Cruise Terminal and travel with us to Kioto. On the way he handed a printed itinerary to every person as well as a timeline with the history of Japan with the important sites that we were going to visit. Mr. Shun walks fast and was tireless, took us to the best places, told us funny stories and interesting facts about Japan culture, history and his own life in Japan. We learned a lot by using different means of transportation. We spent 10 wonderful hours with Mr. Shun. An unforgettable detail, Mr. Shun received us with a bag of Japan sweets. We recommend him 100%, and we definitely will hire him again, he also tours others cities... read more
Hi Martha, Thank you for your review . You gave me too many nice words about me. To tell the truth, I had been concerned that I might have guided you with too difficult topics. But I feel grateful now to have read your review. By the way, I tried to send you the photo we took at Kyoto, but I failed. I have no idea the reason so far. I'll try it again later if possible. Anyway if you will have a chance to visit Japan again, please contact me. Thank you again. I hope you will spend happy days in your country. Shun
My friend and I booked a 6 hour custom private tour to specifically visit the Sagano bamboo forest in Arashiyama, Tenryu-ji Temple, and the Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. Shun met us at our hotel and we made our way to each spot via the train. At the Sagano bamboo forest, he mentioned that there was an option to see Okochi Denjiro's (famous past silent film actor private villa. We decided to do that and the views were great! The experience also included matcha tea overlooking the bamboo forest. Overall, it was super helpful to have a professional guide navigate the way, which in turn, creates a stress free experience. I highly recommend Shun. Prior to the tour, we communicated through email and he was very accommodating. He also took great pictures for us and picked out a good lunch spot. ... read more
Thank you, Tracy, for your review. The honor is more than I deserve. To tell the truth, I couldn't get correctly what you 'd like to see in Kyoto first. But I saw soon that you were really having fun in contact with different cultures in Japan. I was a little surprised by your eagerness for taking pictures. You and your friend were particular about photo angles at Arashiyama, weren't you? I hope the days you spent in Japan would be your unforgettable memory. And I wish you'll visit Japan again. There are a lot of wonderful places, especially in the countryside in Japan. Thank you, again.
