What to Expect
The half day course (approx., 4 hours), in which we can enjoy representative landscapes around the Lake, some of which are associated with the folklore descended from more than 1,200 years ago, and others are historical stages, especially in the midst of the age of Provincial Wars (1583). We climb up to the summit of Mt. Shizugatake (an old battlefield) too by a lift, from where we can see the fantastic vista of both Lake Biwa and Lake Yogo. Total biking distance is about 22 km.
Lake Yogo and the adjacent old battlefield are not necessarily on the Golden sightseeing route such as Kyoto or Hakone of the Far Eastern Country but may be on just an untouched, quiet and seemingly mundane countryside as the places have really been. But, you will be able to touch and acquire how local people of former days felt, thought and established a cooperative mechanism in order to survive and make their own community nicer place to live, by actually seeing remains the villager here have created and believed in.
