Visit Koedo Kawagoe, or little Edo. Kawagoe is small town that you can walk around.
You will find not only traditional Edo style houses, but also remains of Edo period, as well as Meiji, Tisho and Showa periods.
You would feel as if you slip back in time!!
We will walk the town either clockwise or anticlockwise, so that we can cover the main sightseeing spots, including Kitain Temple, Kawagoe Castle, Hikawa Shrine as well as Kurazukuri Zone where you can stroll around by visiting shops for souvenirs, Japanese sweets and Japanese traditional snacks.
So in one day, in addition to visit historical sites such as Kawagoe Castle, and Kitain Temple -where you could actually see the buildings and cultural assets from Edo period, you can also enjoy shopping and snacking while strolling at the Kurazukuri Street.
If it is too much to walk, we can also take city loop bus.
|(Option) Kimono Rental (you can walk around the town with Kimono - we may skip one of the places to visit.) .||19.22 USD|
Sachimi was the perfect guide. As we were not familiar with the train system and do not speak the language, Sachimi's detailed directions, including photos, helped us to get to the station and meet her on time. Prior to meeting her, she communicated with us several times regarding various options for getting to Kawagoe and also asked us about our lunch preferences. This made us feel so much more comfortable. We were all set to go as soon as we met her. On the train ride to Kawagoe, she gave us a brief historical review of the Edo period and what the plans were for the day. The Kita-In Temple was awesome and her explanation along the way made everything more meaningful. The beautiful grounds were peaceful and calming. We knew we were in good hands for the day. She already made lunch reservations and we were anxious to try Kawagoe's unagi lunch. So perfect! We had a delicious and leisurely lunch and learned much more about Kawagoe's history and culture. This is truly the value of having a personal guide. Walking through the old town mixed with newly built structures gave us a different feeling from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. It was fun to sample Kawagoe's special food items and walk down "candy alley". It was a full and yet relaxing day. Sachimi was very flexible as she altered our original plan to accommodate our needs. Her excellent English, her caring ways and knowledge of the area including the loop bus and train schedules allowed us to have a most enjoyable day. We will certainly recommend her to our friends and contact her again when we return to Japan.
Sachimi contact us several times prior to our arrival in Tokyo. She Incorporated all our feedbacks and customized a wonderful tour of Tokyo. We wanted to tour a few tourist attractions as well as visiting a local neighborhood and dine where locals eat. Sachimi is well versed in English and came prepared with some historical and cultural background of Tokyo before our tour. We went to Ueno Park, Asakusa, ate a delicious tempura lunch and toured old neighborhood of Yanaka. The four of us had a wonderful exposure of Tokyo! Sachimi is like a friend taking us around. Will recommend Sachimi to friends visiting Tokyo.
We had a great time with Ms. Sachimi as our guide. The day prior to our appointment, she dropped off a nice reminder on our doorstep which was a comfort to us because we were assurred that she was going to show up. She showed us how to go around using the subway as well as the high speed train. That was invaluable since that enabled us to go all over Japan. We plan on having her as our guide again on our next visit.
