What to Expect

Let's visit Saitama City (approx. one hour train ride from Tokyo Station) to see the one of the most famous shrines around Tokyo and explore the world renowned Bonsai Village!

1) Hikawa Shrine
Founded about 2,400 years ago, it's "Chokusai-sha", a special shrine whose rituals are attended by an imperial envoy (there are only 16 Chokusai-sha in Japan) and one of the most important shinto shrines of the greater Tokyo area. It's also famous for the longest "sando (approach to the shrine)" in the world and the biggest torii gate in the Kanto region.

2) Bonsai Village
Bonsai nurseries moved from Tokyo after the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923, seeking for the ideal place and settled here to form this Bonsai village. Here you can visit bonsai nurseries and the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum (entrance fee / adult: JPY300-). The collection is overwhelming - please appreciate the highest quality bonsai masterpieces that you can never see anywhere else in the world!

[Please note:]
*We can walk or take a taxi between each site. If you would prefer taking a taxi, please pay the taxi fare.
*I can change the route and length of the tour flexibly. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

Hi, I'm Kazue (car-zoo-A). Thanks so much for viewing my profile!

I'm a native eastern Japanese, born in Kawaguchi City, Saitama (just north to Tokyo) and spent most of my student and working time in central Tokyo. So I'm able to show you attractions in and around Tokyo, especially the places loved by locals.

Tokyo is diverse - there are not only skyscrapers but also tranquil shrines and temples, real local "shitamachi" areas, and even mountains, vegetables fields... and I would like to help you enjoy these various aspects of Tokyo in your own style!

Personally I love Japanese food (especially miso soup and dessert "wagashi" like mochi), playing shamisen (a traditional Japanese musical instrument with three strings) and growing plants, which means I'm especially suitable for those who love mochi / kabuki / bonsai ;)

I'm looking forward to meeting you in Japan :)

“ When I told her I want to go to the school I attended as a child, she located it and initiated a call to them and then forward to me the web address. ”

It was a wonderful day. It began at the school I attended in K-2 grades and the the Dean of Admissions gave us an hour long tour and showed me the building where I would have had classes. It was rich. Then we visited a park near by that she thought was lovely and I probably went to as a child. On the way I spotted a pastry shop so we digressed for a treat and coffee. And walked thru the neighborhood of Hiro-o. Then we went to the Japanese Traditional Crafts Aoyama Square that I said I want to see as I love to see pottery and crafts of a country. Had a wonderful lunch along the way and then went to the gardens of the Imperial Palace and concluded with going to a big toy story for gifts for grandchildren. It was a fun, delightful day with Kazue who had a good listening hear and suggestions for what interests me.

“ Our customised tour in Tokyo with Kazue! ”

We had the most amazing day with Kazue during our tour in Tokyo! She is very friendly, polite and we really enjoyed our day with her visiting Tokyo! We contacted Kazue on her availability before arriving in Japan and she was very prompt to respond with ideas on how to customise our tour. After a few emails our plan was set and ready for our one-day (8hrs) tour of Tokyo. She introduced us to must-see areas, shrines/temples and food of Tokyo. The fact that she speaks perfect English, made our life so much easier when we needed a translator into Japanese. She made the first day of our honeymoon very special!
