This is a comprehensive tour concerning the National Drink of Japan, Japanese Sake and food from Japan's Kitchen (Osaka). Soul Food and good sake. I will delve into how sake is made and the stories behind how food dished evolved in Japan. Lot's of fun!
Feel free to personalize this offer with Richard.
I found out after living here since 1983, that sake is like wine, and it is more difficult to order because it is not divided into grape varieties as wine is, its the rice and water in every prefecture that demands attention. Sweet, dry, super dry, hot or cold..... it can be a little intimidating and difficult to order what you like. I can help you get through that.
We will also have different Osaka Soul Foods and food from Japan. Stories to boot.

Our group of four spent one day and another evening with Richard. It was a great mix of culture and food and sake. We are now all sake converts! He readily accommodated all our requests and we had an awesome time. His commentary was colorful and he is spontaneous and great fun. Richard went beyond the call of duty, providing ideas for our days on our own. Thank you Richard!
Thank you! So I have successfully converted you? My plan is working! And remember sake is for sipping!!! Thank you for spending time with me and you guys were so much fun even though we almost lost you and Scott once!!! LOL Hope to see you again someday Kind regards Richard
Richard could not have been a more gracious guide on our first visit to Kyoto. He not only impressed me with his knowledge and passion of Japanese history and culture but he won the hearts of my two teenagers with his charismatic personality! We truly enjoyed seeing the beautiful autumn leaves, tasting the unique flavors of the region and learning the uniqueness of the countries culture alongside our wonderful guide, Thank you for an amazing day!!
You and your kids were amazing. They are open-minded, fun and get my jokes (most importantly) LOL. I hope you took home some great memories and please thank Fin and Emma for trying things they were not comfortable with (HA HA)!!!! A little rain at the end didn't damper our spirits either! Please be safe and if you need anything, please let me know! Kind regards, Richard
The four of us had a great 2 days with Richard and driver/van with Richard. He was fun to be with, very knowledgeable, and listened to what we wanted to do. We saw the major highlights of Kyoto and are very glad we toured with Richard.
Yay. Hey Carol. Having the driver on that other day really made the difference so that we can get around and get another place in. I am so so so happy you guys had a great time and I hope you have some awesome memories that you will not soon forget about Japan Kind regards Richard
Richard was awesome! Richard showed us all around Kyoto and after being on a guided tour with him, my kids and myself wished we planned more time in Kyoto to explore more. From visiting the Monkey Park, Bamboo forest, having lunch, visiting the market and even getting lucky to see (3) Geisha's walking around the Gian district, we sure packed a lot of things into one day. Richards knew the in's and out's of the city and train routes. He met us at our hotel on time (actually early) and in a few moments we were on the train heading to the opposite side of the city. Richard was able to answer every question my kids and I had from the city places and landmarks to the Japanese culture. It was awesome to watch him in actions when it came to interacting ******* and bumping into people ... read more
Yay!!! We were tearing up the town were we not? LOL. Thank you for booking me and entrusting me with torturing your kids! I am not sure Zach trusts me yet though... ha ha.... Please, anytime, come back and let me take you guys a little deeper. Bring the wifey next time too and take care of those babies at home! Kind regards, Richard
Richard had organised a really interesting schedule for our day. Rather than take us to the very busy main tourist sites Richard took us to some wonderful places that gave us a real feel for the old 'Imperial Japan'. We also spent an hour having a walking lunch at the Nishiki Market, what was amazing about this is he managed to get my very fussy eater brother to try most of the delicacies on offer! Richard's knowledge of both the city and history really made for a great day.
Hey Ken!!! Thank you so much for everything and I'm so happy you had a great day. I will never forget the picture I took of you guys eating Wagyu Beef at Nishiki Market!!! I hope we made some awesome memories for you guys!!!! Kind regards Richard
