Richard was the first and only guide we have met on our multiple private tour experiences around the world who believed that because he had sent a picture of himself that he didn’t need to have a sign. He said “she knows what I look like”. The resulting inability to find our guide started our day late and was irritating to say the least. Richard is an American ex-pat who’s tour experience in Japan could be described as “extreme sport tourism”. Our time was short and we had a long way to travel from Osaka to see Kyoto, however we didn’t really have to power walk through the subway and train stations and whisk through the market so quickly. Was it partly my fault that we were so rushed? Yes. Did he listen and slow down? No. He said he couldn’t walk that slowly but would always wait for u... read more
I am so sorry that you have been the only one to not recognize me as you knew what I looked like from my video, and we got started on time anyway, as you had come down before the 12:30pm start time at the Ship. The whole misstep maybe lasted five minutes at the most as your husband went back to get you after he recognized me. All I wanted to do is get you through the itinerary you requested in the short amount of time I had to get you back to the Ship, and even though I do walk ahead, (as I lead the group), I always stop multiple times to allow everyone to catch up. I told you if you could not walk we should get a car and you did not do that. It would have been easier on all of us, though the other two people in the party that you had met on the ship and brought along, did not complain ... read more

Thank you and hope to keep in touch! Please tell Daniel and Boris and Jenny hello for me. You still have a few days in Japan, so make sure you drink more SAKE!!! LOL Kind regards Richard
What a fabulous experience we had with Richard for two days. He was very personable, extremely knowledgable and overall a very good guide. He made it feel like you were out with a friend showing us around the city. He was very mindful of what we were looking for and continued to provide advice on visits even after the two days were completed. It always felt like he was looking to provide us with what we needed and the best experience he could provide. We would highly recommend him to anyone who was looking for someone provide an in depth experience of Kyoto area. Richard & Nicky
I have no idea what you're talking about. I intentionally try to misguide you. you have foiled me again! LOL I sincerely hope you had an amazing time and I thank you for entrusting me and allowing me to drag you around. Have a safe trip home and if you need anything you let me know! Kind regards Richard
Richard’s knowledge of Japan, temples and shrines, and history and culture combined with his gregarious personality made for a truly memorable day visiting several sites in Kyoto. Richard explained and pointed out so many things that helped us appreciate what we were seeing. We three couples enjoy food. His familiarity with its vendors and foods made our time at Nishiki Market, trying many different items including sake that Richard selected, a marvellous adventure. We enjoyed experiences that would have been impossible without this guide. What a great time! Highly recommend.
Thank you Linda. Your family was a lot of fun and I hope the boys are alright with the sake drinking we did... LOL The Melon Bread stands have no chance against you guys!!! Have to make a business plan once you get back home!! Please let me know if there is ever anything else I can do for you! Kind regards, Richard
Richard is engaging, knowledgeable, flexible, and fun. His personality is icing on the cake. If we return to Japan, we will make sure we hire him for several days, not one like this time. He facilitated the best memories we’ll have from this trip.
Thank you Elena. You guys were so much fun. Please let me know what I can do for you. I will plan on seeing you guys again. Kind regards Richard
