Seasonal guide in Yaeyama, Okinawa from spring to summer.
Iriomote island is located in southernmost national park in Japan. The island is characterized by its natural landscape typical of the subtropical zone—a dynamic and abundant natural environment comprising near-primeval evergreen forest with numerous rare animal species unique to this island including the Iriomote wild cat.
It takes about 60 minutes from Ishigaki island to Iriomote. Between two islands lies Sekisei Lagoon, great coral reef. More than 360 species of coral have been confirmed. Their diversity is on par with the Great Barrier Reef, the world largest coral reef.
Iriomote island provides visitors with places and opportunities for high-quality nature experiences, offering a wealth of land leisure activities such as trekking canoeing mangrove river as well as marine leisure such as snorkeling.
We appreciated being able to change part of the tour content to suit weather conditions and still have a good time and enjoyed a really great lunch. The combination of Ryuta's knowledge and easy going personality made for a most enjoyable day.
Ryuta was easy to communicate with prior to the tour, he even went out of his way to try and find out about a possible sumo stable visit before we met. We were due to visit Kamakura and Ryuta made travelling to the area very easy by meeting us at our apartment in Tokyo. The tour itself was very informative and he was happy to accommodate our request to visit the Studio Ghibli shop in Kamakura. At the end of the tour Ryuta kindly took us back to Tokyo, to a different location so we could see a local festival. Ryuta went out of his way to make it an enjoyable day for our family.
