“ Michiko-san was a great choice! ”

Michiko-san epitomized professionalism by pre-planning our individual tour based on what we'd like to see in the Tokyo area. The pre-planning included her going through prior dry-runs of routes to ensure that we'd be able to accomplish what we prioritized on our wish list and within the allotted time. If we chose to linger more at one location, Michiko-san was flexible and adjusted our itinerary. Without her, we couldn't have seen half the sites if we had tried on our own to find and navigate to these places through Tokyo's extensive rail and subway system. Additionally, she provided some written brief background & context on our tour stops prior to the actual meeting - which was quite thoughtful. We were very pleased with Michiko-san!

Thank you for your review. I found a good dish called "sweet potato rice" at a small restaurant in Kawagoe on the day before the tour date. Sweet potato is a specialty of Kawagoe and I thought it was good for your stomach. Let's try it next time! And now I'm on the way to Lake Kawaguchiko to do the final route check for the tour expected next week. It's a beautiful day to enjoy the views of Mt. Fuji. Michiko

“ Great day in Nikko with Michiko ”

My wife and I met Michiko at the Nikko station and had a great day discovering the wonders of Nikko. Michiko was the perfect guide - friendly, thoughtful and informative. She gave us great information but also gave us space when appropriate. We would highly recommend Michiko for tours in Nikko and Tokyo. Thank you Michiko!

Thank you for your review. I just enjoyed the tour with you two. I was thrilled with the heavy traffic in the peak time of autumn color viewing. But we walked faster than the bus, right? And thank you for your interest in a Japanese sense of beauty called "Wabi Sabi". Michiko

“ Pleasant Day in Nikko ”

Michiko was a very kind and lovely person, as well as a great guide to have at Nikko, an area more geared more towards Japanese tourists than foreign ones. She did a great job translating and explaining the important historical sites to us. We encountered several rituals which we would not have understood had she not been there to inform us, and she helped make our visit respectful by guiding us through the customs and etiquette of each place. She was particularly helpful at the Imperial Villa, where she helped translate a number of questions we had about the villa's history to the Japanese-speaking staff. She did at times struggle with speaking English, but we were able to work together to find the right words and got some interesting context. We wish we could have gone somewhere a b... read more

Thank you for your review. You wanted to have "soba (buckwheat noodles)", right. You should have let me know in advance. Actually, I know some good "soba" restaurants there. But I'm reluctant to take my foreign guests to a soba restaurant and make a reservation at some long-established restanrants which serve good western dishes unless I'd had any special requests for lunch. Because soba could develop a severe allergy condition. (I have a certification as a medical interpreter, I have no intention of using it though.) Anyway, you are blessed with many things including weather. If it had not rained at the very end of the tour, I could have show you another good place to you!

“ Shortened and rescheduled tour but very informative and memorable. ”

After our flights were delayed due to typhoon number 19 and our one day tour had to be cancelled, Michiko generously gave up two afternoons to tour us around Asakusa, Shibuya Ginza and the Imperial Gardens. Very pleasant, accommodating and easy to be with, she worked with our schedule and made our day and a half in Tokyo truly memorable. Thank you Michiko for showing us Hachiko and cafe latte with our faces!

Thank you for your review. I was impressed by your modest personality and the great contribution to the society. I was really happy sharing a wonderful time with you all. Please say hello to your adorable K9s from Michiko.
