Overview

Nikko, which has been acknowledged as World Heritage in 1999, has temples and shrines with awesome sculptures.

We will ride a JR-Tobu express train for approximately two hours from the west side of Tokyo area/Saitama to visit there and take time to appreciate them.

You can enjoy Yuba (tofu skin), which is one of the local specialities, buckwheat noodles or curry and rice etc. as lunch.

What to Expect

We will visit the temples and shrines in Nikko. The sculptures are awesome.

If you would like to visit Kegon Fall, we will visit except the Autumn Foliage Season (October and November).

Please take your time as you can take pictures as much as you can at the places allowed.

Important

It will be first booked, first served basis.

If you're interested in TOKYO, MOUNT FUJI, or NIKKO, please check the tours before you make inquiries. (Some transportation for Mount Fuji or Nikko might be fully booked if you do last minute booking.)

It's impossible to make quotation without knowing the spots you would like to visit.
Nikko and Mount Fuji are approximately two hours on Limited Express from Shinjuku or Asakusa.
Tokyo is not a compact city, but a huge one.

If you have difficulties with stairs, please tell me in your message. Thank you.

Please choose the places of your interest looking at the pictures.

Sometimes it is difficult to get seats on the bus to Lake Chuzenji (Kegon Falls), so smaller group is preferable.

If we miss the 7:30 Shinjuku 7:36 Ikebukuro Express, the next one is in three hours and we have to pay commission to have the reserved tickets paid back, so please be punctual.

We will walk a lot, so please wear walking shoes like sneakers. You will need to take off your shoes several times.
There is no way of avoiding stairs. The Accessibility of the World Heritage is extremely low.

Nikko is coldler than Tokyo.

The temples and shrines close at 16:00 from November 1.

If you don't walk so much and you don't want to visit all the spots in the highlights, please feel free to send a message.
I will arrange the itinerary based on your requests.

During November, there is a terrible traffic jam, which might take hours sometimes, even on weekdays.
Switch your other tours to weekends and try to make the Nikko tour on weekdays by all means. read more

“ Fun and informative Day ”

Had a really fun and informative day with Yoko. We started and ended on time even with a very aggressive schedule of activities. Yoko was pleasant and had taken considerable time to pre plan the day to ensure my desired touring locations were all achieved. I would certainly recommend her.

Yoko:

Thank you so much for your review. Well, your hotel was a little too south to finish on time, but we can squeeze in many places. We visited Imperial Palace Plaza with the view of Double Bridge instead of the Imperial Palace. Please visit the Imperial Palace when you become one of the US's dignitaries some day. There are still so much places to see in Tokyo and we can also see the Great Buddha of Kamakura, so I will be waiting for you to come with your wife on vacation. BTW, the icecream flavor that we had as dessert is the same flavor that President Obama called "unforgettable.":-)

“ Day trip to Nikko ”

Yoko was great. We had a lovely rainy day in Nikko. The rain didn’t matter we still saw lots of sights and had fun. Yoko was very knowledgeable and even gave us great tips for the rest of our stay in Japan. She even sent me links to restaurants and links and directions to make sure I purchased the right train tickets. I would highly recommend her!!

Yoko:

Wow, thank you so much for writing such a sweet review on the way to Mount Fuji area!! It was raining cats and dogs but made the Kegon Falls and the Daiya River along the Kanmangafuchi Abyss much more dynamic. It was an amazing day for me to spend nearly the whole day with you and your wonderful family, Aaron, Molley and Faith, which made me feel just like ♪Singing in the Rain.♪ I wish you enjoy your stay at the Ryokan with Onsen, hot springs, and the rest of your stay. I will be dreaming of seeing you on your next visit some day.

“ The lesser visited Shrine and Temple ”

Saw a wedding. Yoko is very flexible on the itinerary. I liked the less crowded sites. Tea was very nice.

Yoko:

Thank you for your review, sir. I like Eishoji Temple, too, which is less crowded than Houkokuji Temple and also quite beautiful. You can relax and enjoy tranquility there. On some Sundays you can even have tea there, but we could see a Japanese wedding at Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine that Saturday. I hope you will come again and I can take you to Zen Temples. Please take care till then. Thank you again!!

“ Did and learned more with Yoko than I would have ever imagined ”

I had about a half a day extra in Tokyo and she made it a great and productive experience with lots of local insights.

Yoko:

I appreciate your great review so much. It was like a "bullet train" talk day. I will go to see "RBG" this week. I'm quite grateful you were so interested in Japanese culture and people. I had a great time talking with you, sir, and thank you so much for your generosity. I'll be looking forward to seeing you coming with your kids next time.

Yoko provided a great tour of Nikko! Very informative! One of our best days during our two weeks in Japan.

Yoko:

Thank you so much for a great review, Melissa!! It was so much fun going to Nikko together with you and Nathan. I miss you and your lovely Southern Drawl. Nikko will be very beautiful in Autumn, too and there are so many other wonderful places, so please come back again. I hope you have a nice flight home!! Thank you again!!
