What to Expect

The deer of Nara Park is unique as they have long protected as messenger of Japanese God.
These deer acutually bow when greeting you, especially ehen deer crackers are ready to feed them.

The five-storied Pagoda and the Tokon-do of Kofuku-ji temple have been burnt down five times and the present buildings date back to the 15th centry.
Once this temple contained more than 170 buildings, but many have been reconstructed each time. This is typical example that people in Nara support Kofuku-ji temple and love it historically.

Great Buddha statue(Daibutsu) at Todai-ji temple is the largest bronze Buddha in the world. It weights approximatelly 380 tons, and the height is 15 meters tall.
This statue was originally built in 752 by means of bronze casting and gold plated on the surface of bronze. This Buddha statue have contributed to expand the Buddhism in Japan as the simbol of Buddha meaning "Shining Light of the Univers".

Due to close ties with the imperial family, many emperors. empresses visited this shrine. The unique feature of Kasuga Shrine is outstanging 2,000 stone lanterns that line the approach to the sanctuary. These lanterns have been donared by worshipers who honor and revere the gods of Kasuga Shrine.

Through visitting these temples and shrines, we can imagine the culture and history of Nara period, 1,300 years ago.

“ Personalized and detail oriented ”

Makoto was an absolute joy. He met us right at the train platform as we arrived at Kyoto from Tokyo. Makoto’s knowledge of Japan will astound you - right from its history to the present. My 5 year old is a big fan of him after he bought her a cute return gift! Please don’t look further than Makoto for professional yet personal experience to Kyoto!

“ Kyoto highlights ”

Our Kyoto day trip with Mr. Makoto was a down to earth experience, which was a pleasant surprise. In the past we had scheduled tour bus -type tours and in this case, Mr. Makati took us on local trains and buses to get to different destinations. We felt like we “blended in” with the locals! That’s a true cultural experience!

MAKOTO:

Dear Winnie, Thanks for your nice and prompt review comments. I am so glad that you have enjoyed the tour even though it was hot and humid yesterday. Please enjoy the stay in Kyoto and have a nice trip back to the U.S. Thanks again for yoir choosing me of yoir guide. MAKOTO

“ Hepful, knowledgeable and well informed ”

We had a great day with Makoto. He helped us with our JR cards and understanding the local transport system in Kyoto. He was knowledgeable about each site we visited and Kyoto’s geography and history and contemporary life. Even though we had s timetsble which he had prepared well for us, he still gave us space to spend extra time in some places snd sdjudting the itinerary time. He was flexible and friendly and pleasant to spend time with. I would highly recommend him.

MAKOTO:
