Nara is a birth place of the Hozoin-Ryu Sojutu School of spearmanship. It was founded by Kakuzenbo Hoin In-ei who was a Buddhist monk of Kohfukuji Temple in Nara dating back 450 years. It is said that In-ei invented a spear with cross-shaped spearhead inspired by the reflection of the crescent moon on Sarusawa-ike Pond. This tour will take you to the related places to Kakuzenbo Hoin In-ei.

My first surprise was his detailed schedule for my request (one day Kyoto, one day Nara and one day Himeji). The program was even detailed for the minute (seriously!), which precision is - as he later explained - coming from his past as a civil engineer. However whenever we requested some change on the way, he was helpful, flexible and kind. Regarding the visits to the shrines, temples and other sites, he was well prepared, ready to answer to our - sometimes only tangentially related - questions. We enjoyed every moment with him, learned much more than history of the sites - present customs, everyday life in Japan, etc. Along our way he found the time to offer us restaurants (even making reservation), helped to successfully reclaim the mobile phone left on Hikari shinkasen, helped to c... read more
Dear Peter, I appreciate your very detailed and rave review on the tour with me. I had felt relieved to know that your left iPhone on the Shinkansen was restored next day of the tour. I have enjoyed cross cultural talking with you through the three day tour with you. Japan has abundant beautiful spots and unique culture. I look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Please give my best regards to Zoltan, Joseph and Ferenc. Best regards, Hiroyuki
Hiroyuki guided my daughter and I for 2 days in Kyoto. I highly recommend him. He is very knowledgeable and helpful.
Dear Joseph, I appreciate your kind review on the tour with me. Although it was extremely hot two days, I am pleased that we were able to complete the tour without any troubles. I hope you visit Japan again in spring and autumn season when you can enjoy beautiful cherry blossoms and autumn leaves. Please give my best regards to Nicole. Best regards, Hiroyuki
Hiro-San is fantastic. He is very knowledgeable of Kyoto’s history and culture. He also did a great job in ensuring all of the wishes of different age travelers and personalities are met. He was very thoughtful to the children who were experiencing exhaustion due to the numerous steps and heat. Upon discovery of me leaving my phone on the bullet train, he went beyond the call of duty to take our family to a tech center to activate the phone in lost mode and called the rail station on our behalf. Hiro-San made our trip truly memorable. Thank you!
Dear Bonna, Thank you very much for leaving a kind review on the tour with me. I had a very pleasant day with you and your family over eastern part of Kyoto. I am also glad to know that your phone was returned to you safely. Please give my best regards to James,Kailey,Ellie,Thuy,Madison and Michael. I look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Best regards, Hiroyuki
Thanks Hiro for a fantastic tour! We had so much fun seeing the sites with you as you made our experience such a lovey one. My 14 year old son said you were his best guide in Japan! You made getting around very easy and our time spent at the shrine, temple and castle with you was both educational and enjoyable. I recommend you for anyone coming to town who wants a professional and fun guide. Thanks again! And we love the photos you took of us. :)
Dear Jennifer, I appreciate your taking time to leave prompt and wonderful review on the tour with me. I enjoyed showing you around eastern part of Kyoto including Sanjusangendo, Fushimi Inari Shrine and Nijo Castle. I was also very much impressed with Manny's intelligence. I am sure that he is a very promising young guy. Please give my best regards to Arline and Manny. I look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Sincerely yours, Hiroyuki
Hiro-san was an amazing guide! We really enjoyed our day in Nara. He really went out of his way to provide us all with the best experience, which is not so easy to do when you are with a family of seven and all with different interests. We had never been to Nara before and only had a little idea of what was there, so he prepared a great itinerary for us with many interesting things to see, but still taking into account my family’s needs (some members were older and needed to go slower or find resting points). He was full of stories to tell and we learned so much about Japan from him. I can’t recommend him enough! :)
Dear Isadora, Thank you very much for your prompt and wonderful review on the tour over Nara with me. Although it was a short tour, I am pleased to know that the tour was satisfactory to you. I hope the tour with me was of any help to you understand something about Japan. I look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Please give my best regards to Mark, Margey, Connie, Chuchay, Pippa and Chiara. Best regards, Hiroyuki
