Nagano city's main attraction is Zenkoji Temple, but there's far more to see than just the main hall. On the walk to the temple from Nagano Station (about 2km/1.25 miles) see some of the temples and shrines of the 7 Lucky Gods, the place where the Olympic torch stood during the 1998 Olympics, and take a quick rest to try some Oyaki dumplings before reaching the main Zenkoji Complex. Take some time to explore this huge complex, including the museum, main hall & underground corridor, and take pictures from inside the Sanmon Gate. After eating some delicious soba noodles, we'll take 2 buses to the Kawanakajima Battle Site. While it's mainly used as a park these days, I'll do my best to bring the various battles to life. Finally, we'll return to Nagano station where we'll have an opportunity to taste sake from all around Nagano prefecture. The tour will take approximately 6-7 hours.read more
