What to Expect

Kamikochi is one of the most popular mountain resorts in Japan. Kamikochi located in Nagano Prefecture is scenic highland basin above 1,500 meters above sea level surrounded by a series of high steep mountains called the Japan Alps. The area is designated as a Special National Monument.

The most popular scenic spot is a wooden suspension bridge called "Kappabashi Bridge" on Azusa River. We can look over the bridge at Hodaka mountain range. Azusa river is a highly clear river flowing down from Yariga-take.
The typical hiking course is between Taishoike and Kappabashi bridge. Taishoike Pond is created at the huge eruption of Yake-dake in 1915. I'm sure you can greatly enjoy forest bathing in small birds' chirping and seasonal wild flowers for about an hour. If you are lucky, you might come across Japanese monkey.

Furthermore you can make a round trip between Kappabashi bridge and Myojnike Pond for 2 hours. Myojinike Pond has clear water and near the pond you find Hodaka Shrine that local Shinto deity of Japan Alps is enshrined. When you cross Myojin bridge, you see Myojin-take. It is one of the photo spots in Kamikochi.

Even in summer it is about 23 degrees, so why don't you join cool hiking?
The period of opening of Kamikochi is from mid-April to mid-November.

“ Tateyama Alpine trail ”

Had a nice trip going one way from Nagano to Toyama via the Alpine Trail. Hideo made sure we were on time and followed a pretty open itinerary. Even finished the trail early and was able to grab a meal in Kanazawa. He's pretty active for his age, hope to be like him when I'm at his age.

Hideo:
Dear Wilson I'm very glad to receive your review. Thank you for joining my tour of "Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route." I'm sure you could enjoy walking on the snow. I hope you come back to Japan again. Thank you, Wilson.

“ Great trip to an iconic place with a great person! ”

We found Hideo-san as a very organised, patient and wonderful human being. We're travelling with an infant and a 3yr old and to have someone like Hideo as tour guide helps you have a peace of mind during the entire trip. From the time we booked him through TripleLights, he was constantly in touch in finalising the trip itinerary and assisting with our tour requirements. He organised a private car for our day-trip in Hiroshima and Miyajima. Reasonable price and a big car! He got in touch a week before and assisted with JR train details (for our travel from Kyoto to Hiroshima to Kyoto) for our seat reservations. He didnt have to but it was very helpful. Picked us at the Hiroshima station and had a clear itinerary of our day-trip. Never rushing and was very soft spoken (even as we're behind the schedule at times!). Took a lot of photos for us with a sincere smile. Very knowledgable guide, he is, who seems to do a lot of preparatory work about the places of interest and for the needs of his clients. Took us to a fine dining family restaurant in Hiroshima that had a great ambience and food. On our return to Hiroshima train station in car, he took efforts to find places for Kimono rentals in his mobile phone and plotted everything in a local map (Kyoto) to make things easier for us. Delighting customer service! He considerateness and care didn't stop there - he got down at Shin-Kobe station to assist us with transfer of train to Kyoto (even though he could have travelled straight to Osaka). It was a heartening surprise for us! Our day trip to Hiroshima was more than a experience to the places of interest because of our time with Hideo-San. We will highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a great guide!

Hideo:
Dear Vijay Thank you for joining my tour of Hiroshima. I'm truly glad that you gave me one of the best reviews that I've ever received, It was challenging and your review inspired me to do my best as a tour guide. I make a wish for your children's healthy growth. Thank you. Best, regards HIDEo YOSHIda

“ Nagoya cruise day. ”

He did a great job of getting us around quickly via the trains to our sights we wanted to see. He was very quiet but very efficient. There was a lot of walking, but we did ok. He took us to an extra site we didn't even know about , the bulletin train museum. It was great. !!!

Hideo:
Dear Dawn I'm very glad to receive your review. Thank you for joining my tour of Nagoya. I could show you SCMAGLEV and RAILWAY PARK, where Maglev (magnetically levitated) train was exhibited. The train will be running at the maximum speed of 500km per hour in 2027. I'm sure you enjoy the cruise tour. I hope to see you again. Thank you. Best regards HIDEo YOSHIda

“ Hideo Toshida ”

We engaged Hideo to travel with us for 9 days to Hiroshima, Matsue, Nagano, Matsumoto, Takayama, Kanazawa and Toyama and nearby, satellite areas. Hideo's preplanning and travel scheduling was highly professional. He was attentive and accommodating to all our requests, making the experiences special. His knowledge of all things Japan was excellent, answering all our questions thoughtfully. We left the whole itinerary planning to Hideo and we were most happy with the total outcome. One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to the mountains along the snow covered Alpine Way at the end of our visit. Many thanks Hideo and best wishes Peter & Ann Jarman

Hideo:
Dear Peter I'm very glad to receive your review. I greatly enjoyed the 9-day tour with you, too. I hope you've just finished arranging the album of photos and videos you took in Japan with the map I gave you. I hope to see you again. Great Thanks. Best regards HIDEo YOSHIda
