If you want hired cars, you need to pay for hired cars besides guide fee. Sorry for inconvenience.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is like possility to see Mt.Fuji?

Visibility of Mt.Fuji is highly dependent on the weather and the season.
- Visibility throughout the year is about 40% for completely and 58% for partly according to research.
- Visibility is higher in the mooring than in the afternoon, as fog comes out as the temperature goes up.
- Visibility is higher in winter than in summer as the air is clearer.
- The best visibility : October〜February. The least : June〜August.

Which is better for Mt.Fuji, Hakone or Kawaguchi-ko?

Hakone and Kawaguchi-ko Lake are both nice Mt.Fuji viewing spots. If you want to see big Mt.Fuji, I recommend Kawaguchi-ko Lake, cause it's nearer and bigger, just on the foot of Mt.Fuji. Also if you want to shoot lake reflections of Mt.Fuji, the Fuji Five Lakes is place to go.

From Hakone, you can enjoy Mt.Fuji view if weather permits, but smaller than one from Kawaguchi-ko Lake. You can enjoy unique volcanic site of Owakudani and deep mountain nature with famous hot springs. Transportations around Hakone such as ropeways, cable cars, mountain trains are fun to experience.

Can I do both Hakone and Kawguchiko in a day?

Basically Hakone and Kawaguchi-ko sightseeing takes a day trip each. The distance between them is about 50km, but takes more than you expect, because Hakone is very mountainous area, then roads are narrow and often has traffic congestions. So, doing both in a day is not so recommended, but it's possible if you take a hired taxi or van for a whole day from/to Tokyo.

Can I go to Mt.Fuji with JR-Pass?

It’s possible but it’s not so common because it’s not too convenient from the view of time, frequency and fee. JR doesn’t reach to Mt. Fuji area, then you need to pay for additional fare even when you have JR-pass.

(1)If take regular trains,
You need to transfer trains. About 2h30min to get to Kawaguchi-ko station.
・Take JR to Otsuki (free for you with JR-Pass , ¥1,320 for guide / one way)
・Change train to Fujisan station by Fujikyu Railway Line. (¥1,020 per person/one way) JR-Pass is NOT available for Fujikyu Line.
We cannot be sure if we can get seats. Therefore, regular trains are not so recommended.

(2)If takes Limited Express “Fuji-Kaiyu” (all reserved-seat express),
It takes about 1h52m direct to Shinjuku. However this Express train is so popular that better to have advanced booking. ¥4,060 for guide, ¥1,020 per person with JR-pass /one way

(3)Shinkansen with JR-Pass?
Shinkansen reaches to Shin-Fuji station, different side of Mt.Fuji (Shizuoka prefecture). They don’t have as much public transportations for tourists as Kawaguchi-ko Lake side (Yamanashi prefecture). It takes longer time to get to foot of Mt.Fuji and local bus fare is also higher than Kawaguchiko side.

Take Shinkansen Bullet train from Tokyo station to Shin-Fuji (free for you with JR-Pass , ¥5,070 for guide /one way)
Take a Tozan (mountain) Bus to Fujinomiya 5th station* (about 2h) ¥3,100 (return) per person *Fujinomiya 5th station is different from Yoshida 5th station.

With above inconveniences with trains, Express bus is the most common for Mt.Fuji from Tokyo as the cheapest and convenient. But Limited Express Fuji-kaiyu is effective to avoid delays due to traffic congestions if we can make a booking.

Can I go and hike at 5th station?

There are some so-called "5th stations" of Mt.Fuji. For visitors from Tokyo area, it bascically means "Yoshida 5th station of Fuji Subaru Line".

All 5th stations can be reached only when roads are not closed due to snow. Generally speaking, roads to 5th stations are available from the end of April or the beginning of May to autumn every year. Not available in winter.

From winter to early spring, we can reach some point of Mt.Fuji such as 1st station and 4th station, depends on the snow conditions. Please note the area we can reach is still surrounded by snow until late spring.

For summer, we can enjoy hiking around Yoshida 5th station.

Can I go and see Fuji Shiba-Sakura Festival?

Fuji Shiba-Sakura Festival 2019 is held between 4/13~5/26. 2019. From Tokyo, we have some choices for transportations to get to the festival site. Site is located in the western part of Fuji Five Lakes. It takes about 40 min from Kawaguchi-ko Lake by bus or taxi. The peak of Sheba-Sakura (all pink as same as photogenic posters) is generally from the end of April or the beginning of May to the middle of May.

Can I make changes after I book?

Yes! If you need to make changes such as removing or adding someone to your booking or changing the date or time of your tour, contact us by phone or email

Starting and ending points of the tour.

What happens after I book a tour?

After booking a tour, the guide will accept (or decline) your booking within 24 hours. Then you will be noticed by email from Triplelights.

Is the price per person or per group?

The price is charged per group. Which means that you make a one-time payment for your entire group and the price will not change if it is less or more people.

Can I add more people to my booking?

Some guides accept extra people (more than the specified number) for an extra charge. Please check for the extras on the tour or booking page, or contact your guide directly to clarify.

Will there be other tourists in my tour?

No. Your tour is private, only for you and your family or friends, there will be no other group of tourists together in your tour.

Can the guide pickup me at the airport?

Yes, but there will be additional charge for that and it is not by car. The guide will go pick you up using public transportations. For further details, please contact your guide directly.

I'm travelling alone. Can I book this tour?

Yes, you can and you may be able to get a discount if you are traveling alone. Price depends on which guide you choose.

“ Caring Professional Friendly Guide ?? ”

We spent the day with Kaori going off the beaten track in Nikkō. From the start, Kaori has been very responsive and clear in her communications. We knew exactly what to expect. We had a lovely day learning more about Japanese history and culture which was made fun because Kaori has a great sense of humour. She is very perceptive and caring as well. Thank you very much Kaori-San for a memorable day and many lovely photos - we only realised when we got back that we didn’t have one with you. Hopefully, we can spend some time together again on another off the beaten path trip and maybe we can take one then. Wishing you all the best.

Kaori:

Thank you for giving me an excellent review on me and my tour, Sasibha-san. We had a really beautiful relaxing day in Nikko's great nature. Your requested spot in Nikko was a hidden gem of Nikko even for Japanese people. We (our driver and I ) also enjoyed this tranquil onsen village wth you. Your family is so warm, beautiful family to be with. I enjoyed talking with each of you. And I was amazed how experienced you are as traveler in Japan. I'm so happy you love Japan so deeply. I should have taken a photo all together! I'm looking forward to hearing you from again for another adventure! Take care. Hugs and kisses, Kaori

“ Tokyo One-day as You Like ”

We really like our tour with Kaori. She was very accommodating. An excellent photographer. She brought us to a great place for lunch. That was an unexpected but surprisingly good choice. Kaori knows the history of the places we went really well. She taught us how to use the subway. We appreciate her for taking an extra hour in order for us to complete the tour.

Kaori:

Thank you for giving me an excellent review, Rowena-san. I'm so happy you liked photos I took for you. And I'm also happy that you all liked okonomiyaki lunch. I hope your sister makes okonomiyaki and yakisoba well at home! I was impressed that you all are into Mori museum exhibition. I'm glad we could have enough time for you to enjoy the exhibition at your own pace. I'm really looking forward to your coming back to Japan and seeing you again. Of course, your families, relatives and friends are welcome anytime! Hugs and kisses, Kaori

“ Senso-Ji Temple Harajuku Meiji shrine Shibuya ”

Kaori was fantastic. We are a family of 6 travelling to Japan for the first time. Kaori made our first day in Tokyo so easy. We learnt how to navigate the rail system & experienced so many things & places just like the locals. Kaori set us up for the next few days with maps & train information. She was a blessing. We would recommend her to anyone travelling to Japan.

Kaori:

Thank you for the kindest review, Liz san. And thank you for taking time for writing review while you’re still on holiday here. I’m glad to hear you feel easy to get around Tokyo after my tour. Your family are all bright and so friendly to me. I really enjoyed talking with each of you. I hope you have a lot of fun in skiing in Hakuba! Looking forward to meeting you again some day. Hugs and kisses, Kaori

“ Kaori 1st day ”

First day with Kaori was super good even though we just met, it was like we were best friends. We talked anything and she brought me to a shopping haven which was not in the itinerary for the first day and i was very grateful that she brought me there the "Nintendo shop" that was recently opened last Nov. 2019.

Kaori:

Thank you for the warmest review even while we’re still having tours, Sulina san! For me, it felt like same. I’m so grateful you have been friendly and enjoying time with me since first time I met you at the airport. I’m happy you loved Nintendo shop. It was lucky for me to know your favorites as you happened to tell me you like Nintendo games. I’m sure we’re having a wonderful time today, too. Thank you for your friendliness. Hugs and kisses, Kaori
