What to Expect

Mt. Fuji is well known across the world. It is the highest mountain in Japan and was designated as a World cultural heritage site in 2013. You can enjoy the mountain not only by climbing it, but by visiting places around the mountain.
In this tour, we’ll visit Fujinomiya Sengen shrine where we will learn about the worship of Mt. Fuji as a sacred mountain. Local people have been blessed with abundant pure groundwater from Mt. Fuji which is important for agriculture and other industries in the area. An example of this is sake, where the taste depends on the purity of the water used. Our visits include a Sake brewery.
And we’ll visit a green tea house as well. Shizuoka is the biggest tea producer in Japan and has many production areas across the prefecture. Depending on the weather, the view of tea fields in front of Mt. Fuji is spectacular to see. Let’s enjoy a magnificent view over a cup of tea!

☆ If you are interested in other places in Shizuoka, I can add it to your itinerary.
Please don’t hesitate to ask.

“ Visit to a remote wasabi & green tea farm ”

Hiroyo is a wonderful guide. She took the effort to familiarise herself with the farm which we suggested to visit by getting in contact with the owner and later preparing factsheets for us so that our cultural immersion is complete. In addition, Hiroyo checked to see that we have driven in mountainous areas before & asked us to consider insurance cover for our rental car in case of accidents. Hiroyo was very well prepared, she taught us a tea harvesting song and some origami + had origami gifts to take away for us. Al in all, we had a great experience with Hiroyo - we highly recommend Hiroyo.

Hiroyo:

Dear Christine, Thank you very much for your comment! I'm very happy to hear from you!! I just talked with the farm. It was our great pleasure to welcome your wonderful family here. I hope that you can enjoy making Hojicha(roasted tea) by yourself at home as well. If you have another chance to visit here in Shizuoka, I'm always ready to welcome you!! Thank you! Hiroyo

“ Extremely flexible and organized ”

We had a long list of things we wanted to do, and Hiroyo arranged the tour in a perfect order. We had good time to see everything and didn't have to stress when eating lunch. We even got time for an unplanned detour, because it was a beautiful site close by! In the bus (when it could have been boring) she taught us songs and origami to pass time. In all a perfect planned day!

Hiroyo:

Thank you very much for your warm message! I’m so happy to know that you and you family enjoyed the tour. It was really a great opportunity for me to spend such a beautiful day with your beautiful family. I hope you’ll have another chance to visit Japan! Best wishes, Hiroyo

“ A day in and around Fujinomiya ”

We really enjoyed our time touring around Fujinomiya with Hiroyo. She is very professional, knowledgeable, and speaks English quite well. She took us to some very nice places that probably would not have been possible if I did not have her as our guide, particularly the tea farm and sake brewery. She shared some very nice stories with us as we learned historic cultural meanings and about Japanese life and traditions. My wife and I highly recommend Hiroyo for tours around Shizuoka.

Hiroyo:

Dear Geoffrey & Judy, Thank you very much for your warm message. I also enjoyed to be with you on the day! The happy time has been always all too short. I hope you'll have another opportunity to visit Japan. I'll always welcome you here, hopefully with Mt. Fuji! Thank you so much!! Best wishes, Hiroyo

“ One of the best tour I've had ”

Hiroyo is very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive guide. She not only took us to beautiful tea farm and wholesaler, she showed us many things around Shizuoka, teach us many new tea facts, translated our discussion with the people we meet, and always on her toes to notify everyone what is going on next. Even took us for ice-cream even though it was not on the itinerary. Very sweet lady and highly recommend her guiding service.

Hiroyo:

Dear Bena, Thank you for your kind message! I'm really happy to hear from you!! It was a great day for me to welcome you and your family here in the begining of the new year. As you know, Shizuoka is the No.1 tea producer in Japan and there are more interesting places and also more other places to enjoy. I hope you'll have another opportunity to visit Shizuoka. I'll always welcome you. Thank you so much!! Best wishes, Hiroyo
