What to Expect
Matsushima has been boasting of its beauty since 9th century, and is ranked one of Japan's three most scenic views. A lot of people who visit this place were moved by its beauty and admired it by drawing pictures or composing poems. About 260 islands covered with pine trees are scattered in the bay. You can view from up close on cruise. It's a beautiful and enchanting view. Although Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami hit Matsushima in 2011, the area was protected by the islands and escaped major damage.
There is also the greatest Zen temple Zuiganji in Ohshu area or North Eastern Japan. The paneled door, the fan light, or gorgeous paintings on the sliding doors and the alcove are regarded as perfection of artificial beauty that represents Japanese natural beauty.
By the way, be foodie during the trip and have a fantastic memory with your five sense. After spectacuIar cruising, introduce you a nice seafood restaurant in Shiogama city next to Matsushima. If you don't have seafood, I can introduce, some other good restaurants.
