The castle is located in the center of Kyoto city and designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. It was originally built in 1603 as the official Kyoto residence of the first Tokugawa Shogun,Ieyasu. Nijo Caslte is one of the finest examples of early Edo period and Momoyama culture in Japan, as it makes splendid use of early Edo period building designs, lavish paintings, and carvings that Iemitsu generously commissioned. In 1867, when Yoshinobu, the fifteenth Tokugawa Shogun returned soverignty to the Emperor, the caslte became the property of the Imperial family. Inside Ninomaru Palace Yoshinobu summoned the coultry's feudal lords and declared that soverignty would be restored to the Emperor. There are two Japanese gardens. You can enjoy the bearutiful scenary.
Toshiyo did a wonderful job helping us decide how to best share Kyoto with our family (three boys aged 6-10). Despite some significant rain/cold weather, Toshiyo helped teach us about the great history of Kyoto's temples, shared one of her favorite soba restaurants with us, and adjusted the itinerary as the day progressed to make the best of our time together. She did a wonderful job!
We had a lovely time with Toshiyo. Toshiyo planned our itinerary based on what was the farthest away from our hotel and what would be the hardest to get to as tourists. We were able to see 3 sights and have lunch in a 5 hour day. Toshiyo is eru knowledgeable about the history of Japan and her English is very good. If you book with her make sure to request the Soba restaurant by the river!
Had a very enjoyable day with Toshiyo on a rainy Kyoto day. Only the weather stopped us seeing more. if you are looking for a guide in Kyoto i recommend Toshiyo.
Toshiyo did a great job of showing us Kyoto. We covered the major sights all over the city, enjoyed a traditional soba noodle meal at one of her favorite spots, and learned to use the public transportation system. She enabled us to easily traverse the city for the rest of our stay, made recommendations for sights and places we would most enjoy, and helped us to better understand Japan and its wonderful peoples. We would definitely use her again.
I booked the guide for a friend of mine and his family. They told me she was a wonderful guide.
Kyoto has many beautiful places to visit. I especially would like to take you to the most exciting spots in Kyoto in 1 day. Please pick a few of the options from the following sightseeing places and I will take you as many places as possible at a reasonable price.
