“ Most wonderful, elegant and kind guide ”
Etsuko was the MOST wonderful guide! She arrived at my hotel and swept me off to go to Inari Fushi and other places, and despite the rain and masses of people
we had a truly lovely morning together. If you would like to see a glimpse of Kyoto with somebody who has lived there for a long time, and seen many changes -mixed with the openess of somebody who has travelled to the other side of the world- then she is your perfect guide! She has a huge amount of historical and cultural knowledge to tap into, and is happy to share it with you if you like, or to let you soak up the beauty of a place in peace. We talked about so many different things and I really got a bit more understanding about the Japanese culture and a sense of how society works; which is so important to me as a traveller and possible because her English is so good. Kyoto is so beautiful but understood through the eyes of someone living there, even more fascinating. She went far and beyond the call of duty to see that I was comfortable and made sure I had a bite to eat and got back into the right train to Tokyo too! I will keep in touch with her and wish her every success in her ‘new’ guide career and recommend her most highly. Thank you Etsuko for a memorable day in Kyoto!
