Overview

Miyama is a rural and highland area 30km north west of Kyoto city and small villages and hamlets spread out along a beautiful river, surrounding by mountains up to 1000m in height. Especially in the “Thatched house village", the most buildings are with thatched roofs. Some are local people's homes, but some were converted into museums and places to stay.

What to Expect

* You can experience the old days Japanese village atmosphere by just traveling 30km away from the city center of KYOTO. In winter, the whole village is blanketed in snow, which is amazing and dream-like scenery.

* As the optional tour, you can join in various outdoor activities such as the nature trekking in the primeval forest.
