I would like to take you to Ginkakuji, Plilosopher's Path, Eikando, and Nanzenji Temple.
The another name for Ginkakuji is "Temple of Silver Pavilion" whlle that for Kinkakuji is called "Temple of Golden Pavilion." It is said that the Temple expresses "wabi sabi" or simple athetic values. The temple has a stroll-type pond garden, so you can enjoy a beautiful view from any angle. The steps are covered with moss on both sides.
About 2 km path from Ginkakuji Temple to Nanzenji Temple is called "the philosopher's path." The path is one of the most suitable places for strolling in the spring and autumn seasons. In spring you can enjoy cherry blossom viewing. Cherry blossoms provide gorgeous cherry arcade over the water. Furthermore in autumn you can enjoy beautifully changing colors of autumnal leaves.
When you walk on the philosopher's path, you can visit Eikando Temple which is famous for two things. One is a 77 cm tall statue of Amida-Nyorai. He turned his head to the left as if looking behind. It is called "Mikaeri Amida." The other is famous for its red autumn maple leaves. The temple has been called "Autumn Maple Leaf Eikando."
Nanzen-ji literally means "South Temple of Enlightenment". The huge 2-story San-mon Gate, provides an impressive entry to the grounds. It is one of the 3 largest Gateways in Japan. When you walk on the right path, the arch-shaped aqueduct come into view. This aqueduct bringing water from Lake Biwa is one of the greatest achievements in modernization of Kyoto.
There is Lake Biwa Canal Museum near Nanzenji Tempple. It took about 80 years from 1890 to build Laka Biwa Canal. You can see the history of the Canal in this museum.
We would like to have yudofu for lunch. Yudofu is hot tofu which is very popular in Nanzenji area, so there are many yudofu reestaurants.

Hi Sandy I'm very happy to receive your review. Matsumoto Castle had a little steep stairs but you easily walked upstaires. In Matsumoto City Museum, I'm sure, you could enjoy the works of Yayoi Kusama, the most famous modern artist in Japan. I wish all of you happiness and I hope to see you again. Thank you, Sandy.
Well-organized, good group control. Very knowledgeable about Japan, and excellent skills at relating it. Sometimes difficulty with communication due to soft and relatively high-pitched voice! Would use again

Hideo is very organized and knowledgeable! He met us in the lobby of our hotel and we spent about 5.5 hours together. He knew quite a bit about the history of Kyoto and Japan in general and answered all of our questions. It was very hot, but we managed quite nicely as there were enough times we were in a cooler areas. His English, while not like a native speaker's, was perfectly fine. We had no trouble understanding or communicating. We did provide lunch, but it was our pleasure to have Hideo as our guest. He made the day very enjoyable!
