Overview

While the tour covers the popular Fushimi Inari Shrine and Uji Byodoin Temple, we'll also spend some time in Fushimi sake district for sake tasting and local lunch at an old sake brewery. In Uji, the home of the best Japanese tea, we'll visit traditional tea houses and enjoy their special tea that many eminent Shoguns also appreciated.

What to Expect

With this tour, not only visiting the photogenic Fushimi Inari and Byodoin Temple, you can also deepen the knowledge of sake and green tea, and enjoy the freshness and different kinds of sake and green tea served in a proper way.

Fushimi is a traditional sake district with 23 sake breweries including the giant "Gekkeikan" which was founded in 1673. We will visit the Gekkeikan museum to learn about sake making process and sake tasting, and have a local lunch in one of the sake breweries. You can also visit other shops and breweries for more comparison.
Uji is the home of Uji tea, where you'll see many traditional tea houses and different kinds of Japanese tea with opportunities to try special maccha sweets, green tea soba, maccha beer, etc.
Workshops are available if you're interested in making maccha, hojicha (roasted green tea), and green tea sweets.

This tour is also recommended for the foodies and those who get "templed out" in Kyoto!

“ Probably the BEST guide we had during our 2 week tour of Japan ”

Seriously! Seiko was an absolutely awesome tour guide. She was incredibly prepared and had picture and history printouts about each of the places we visited. She was incredibly patient and gracious with us and even happily went over our allotted time in order to get us on the train back to our hotel. Our visit with Koyoto would definitely not have been the same without Seiko

“ Just like a caring aunt ”

We took a one day Osaka city tour with Seiko. Our group consisted of 7 people from 3 generations-rather big and diverse group. My husband and I were worried if the grandparents who are in their early 80’s would be able to keep up with the tour. We were also worried if the kids will follow with the tour without getting bored or tired too soon. As we feared, the grandparents had to take a long break in the middle of our first destination, and then even longer break for lunch. But Seiko accommodated to the grandparents’ needs with so much care and kindness that we felt like she was our real aunt! The grandparents eventually returned to the hotel after lunch, and the tour continued with the remaining 5 people. Since we took such long breaks, we were behind the schedule by a lot, but Seiko gu... read more

“ Kyoto Tour ”

Seiko is a very good guide. She brought us around the shrines, temple, bamboo grove and sake tasting. She explained the historical of the temples n shrine and Japanese culture. She speak very good english. She even don’t mind to bring us around for more sake even though she is supposed to call it a day. Will definitely engage her if we are going back to Osaka again.

“ Excellent guide, great knowledge of Kyoto - highly recommend ”

I booked an 8 hour tour with Seiko to see the sights of Kyoto with my three teenagers. As I was unsure how such a long day would unfold with the kids, I asked if we could be flexible and she was fantastic. She did her best to accommodate our wishes and was so friendly, helpful and knowledgable. She took us to the Fushimi Inari shrine, the bamboo forest, Nishiki market, a department store food hall, Gion and the Kennin-ji temple. We also had great tonkatsu for lunch in central Kyoto. I would highly recommend her to anyone keen to see all the main sights of such a fantastic city.

Seiko:

Thanks Karen! It could have been more challenging to travel in Japan with 3 teenagers, but I'm sure you enjoyed the days as your children were so engaged in the tour and interested in lots of cultural aspects and Japanese food, even learning many Japanese words in a week! I especially enjoyed Fushimi Inari hike with you all. Such a fun day for me too! Thanks so much and hope you can come back with your husband some time soon. Seiko

“ Fantastic family day in Kyoto ”

I traveled with my family of 5 members to Kyoto this summer. Seiko was very accommodating to prepare a schedule to fit our interests. We covered every place we wanted to visit and Seiko always showed great knowledge of the history of every location. But the most spectacular thing was that Seiko took us to many particular spots outside the main paths that made a great difference to our day, including a fantastic restaurant to enjoy local food at a spectacular location. We had great fun with her throughout the day. Many many thanks to Seiko for making our visit to Kyoto so special. We highly recommend her for families or groups visiting the area.

Seiko:

Thank you Eduardo! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed my way of walking this beautiful city of Kyoto! Sometimes it's very difficult to avoid the crowds at busy time but I try to show you the area from different angles and not to walk the same way back so you can see more with limited time. Hope your wife (my sister!?) and the boys (so cool & sweeeeet!) also had a great time in Japan! Thanks again for coming all the way to our country:) Seiko
