The Fushimi Shrine is one amazing Shrine, it has over 10,000 Red (Vermillion) Torii Gates that takes 2 hours to walk through. The history and culture, the energy, it is hard to put into words. Come let me take you on Spiritual Journey that you will not soon forget! We will have some tasty Sake at the end.
Feel free to personalize this offer with Richard.
I will pick you up at your Hotel or Kyoto Station, then we will head to Fushimi Inari. We will write some prayers for you on a wooden plank and offer them for the Fire Ceremony the next morning. We will then make a 2 hour hike up and around 10,001 Torii Gates.
After, we will head for the vendor street, have some food, some lunch and a sake tasting afterwards in the famous Fushimi Sake Brewery District. We will hit a museum and three places.
We will then head to Nishiki Market where we will try some Kyoto Food and some more Sake at little stops along the way.

My recommendation would be for you to purchase IC/SUICA/PASMO cards for your subway/train/bus passes. They are ¥2000 each and once purchased, you can use ¥1500 of that and refill it as you need it at any station. (¥500 is kept as a hold on the card) You can also use at most convenience stores and some vending machines. Once you are done with them, you turn them back in and get the ¥500 hold and any monies left on them minus a ¥220 processing fee per card. It is a great deal! This way you only have to pay the Guides transportation.
Tours are no more than 8 hours. Over 8 hours will be charged at ¥4500 per hour unless due to circumstances beyond our control or unless agreed upon in writing in advance.
NOTE: WE CAN RESERVE A PRIVATE CAR FOR YOU AT ¥55000 PER DAY
If you do not see the tour you are looking for or want to add or subtract something, let me know what you want to do and where you want to go and I will ensure I put together an itinerary that fits your needs and blows your mind. Welcome!!!
Very beautiful, a highlight of Kyoto. A great experience with great Japanese food and Sake to boot!

Unfortunately, our cruise to Japan was canceled due to Coronavirus and we had to cancel with Richard. He was absolutely terrific during the booking process and very understanding when we had to cancel. When we get back to Japan,. will definitely schedule with him again!
Ron, Ron, Ron! OMG! You are soooooooo fortunate! Even though things may look bad at one moment, you never know! They have still not allowed the cruise ship to go anywhere and if you would have gotten on board, you would still be on it! It is all about timing and even though we could not get something scheduled this time around, I will work hard to make sure things are extra special when you return. So do not fret! You could still be on the ship! Crazy things I tell ya! Glad you had a safe trip back and I look forward to seeing you guys in the future!!!! Kind regards, Richard
Thank you Richard for a one of a kind experience, your knowledge on Japanese history, culture and everything else was fascinating and engaging. Very rarely is there a perfect combination of happy engaged parents and kids... but you did this every day. This was very much appreciated, all 4 of us look forward to meeting you again.
Thank you Kristy. Cora and Carter were awesome. I know we ran them ragged but absolutely good sports! They did really well, trying food and feeding deer!!! Love your kids. I guess I like Clay also!!! LOL. Thank you guys so much and if you do write a review on TripAdvisor please let me them know you found me here
Thank you Richard for an amazing day in Kyoto, we learned a lot. Richard is a superb guide with endless stories and jokes. He is a walking google of Japanese history and culture. We thoroughly enjoyed the day walking around Kyoto and got ourselves thoroughly immersed in Japanese culture and history. The food tour in Nishiki market was unforgettable! Grandma’s little bar tucked away in a super tiny location was the best place for sake. The tea ceremony he organized for us was really special. Highly recommended!
Thank you Girlie, I am glad you guys had a great time! Now that you have had the real Japanese 'sit down' on tatami experience, you are good! You can check that off your list!! Angela says hi and thanks you guys for coming to the Tea Ceremony! Have a safe trip home and if there is ever anything I can do for you, do not hesitate to ask!! Kind regards, Richard
As a family with young adults we wanted a tour that was both informative and fun. Having never been to Japan before we needed someone to show us the ropes. Richard was excellent. He is passionate about Japanese traditional culture and Buddhism. He also showed us how to navigate the Kyoto train system. We visited a beautiful Japanese temple and shrine with magnificent Japanese gardens. Then onto Nijo castle to see how the shoguns lived. Richard told us so many fun anecdotes about Japanese history and also gave us great advice on how to communicate with the locals. Next we visited the Nishiki markets. We had an amazing experience trying fabulous Japanese cuisine. Richard knew all the best places and foods to eat. We also made a few sake stops as well. The food was fabulous. We walked throu... read more
Thank you Sally. I am so happy you and your family had a great time with me. We got to visit a lot of places and I hope you learned a little bit about Japan that sparked your interest to come back again in the future. Hope you loved the sake and are more inclined to order it now!!! LOL. Again thank you so much and I hope you guys take care and have a great and safe trip Richard
Richard's tour was a highlight of my trip to Japan. He was kind enough to show me around Kyoto on New Year's Day, a day when many things are closed in Japan, but Richard still turned it into an enlightening and fun tour. We visited temples and shrines, but rather than just visiting them for the sake of seeing them, Richard explained the significance being each one, which really gave me a deeper appreciation for their importance. We also ate some great food along the way, drank fantastic sake, and had some great conversations. I cannot recommend Richard highly enough. If you really want to appreciate the Osaka/ Kyoto area, I highly recommend you book Richard. Thanks for a wonderful tour, Richard!
Dylan, thank you so much. Like I told you, I usually don't do tours on that day but I had a wonderful day with you and I am glad I got to start off my new year that way. I wish you so much good luck I hope you'll be able to return someday!!! Until then take care, Richard
