Overview

The Fushimi Shrine is one amazing Shrine, it has over 10,000 Red (Vermillion) Torii Gates that takes 2 hours to walk through. The history and culture, the energy, it is hard to put into words. Come let me take you on Spiritual Journey that you will not soon forget! We will have some tasty Sake at the end.

What to Expect

I will pick you up at your Hotel or Kyoto Station, then we will head to Fushimi Inari. We will write some prayers for you on a wooden plank and offer them for the Fire Ceremony the next morning. We will then make a 2 hour hike up and around 10,001 Torii Gates (OR NOT).

After, we will head for the vendor street, have some food, some lunch and a sake tasting afterwards. If you decide not to take the hike, we head to Kiyoizudera Temple or some other place if you have been there with me or someone else already.

Nishiki Market maybe?>

Let me know, I am flexible....

“ Kyoto Highlights ”

As it was the first day of our first visit to Japan it was important that we had a guide who could set the scene for the rest of our short time in the country and Richard really fitted the bill. Our first experience was to negotiate the Shinkansen network as we had arranged to stay overnight in Kyoto, without Richards help we would have wasted precious time. As one of our goals was to understand the culture of Japan Richard's knowledge and experience of living in Japan was invaluable, we visited both an amazing Shinto shrine and Buddhist temple where Richard explained their differences, similarities and their relevance to modern Japanese living. Lunch was an experience where Richard took us to Kyoto's Nishiki (?) market where we were delighted to try a wide range of traditional Kyoto foo... read more
