There are many flea markets held in Kyoto on only one day in every month. In this tour, first, we will visit Ginkakuji Temple, and then, another temple where the famous handmade flea market is held. If you are interested in handmade, you will surely have a lot of fun! Only held on the 15th day of every month.
Feel free to personalize this offer with TOMOE.
At Ginkakuji Temple, you can see the two-story pavillion and enjoy a beautiful sand garden represents the Zen aestheticism of Wabi-Sabi.
(It's called 'Ginkakuji Temple' meaning silver temple, however, no silver is used for this temple.)
At Chionji Temple, the handmade flea market has been held since 1987, and now, the number of shops has been getting larger and larger.
You can enjoy seeing and shopping handmade goods.
* The market is held on rainy days, too.
Then, if you want, I will take you to two shops in the downtown which sell Japanese old cloth.(Japanese Indigo blue, old cloth used for kimono, and so on.) If you prefer shopping at the flea market, please tell me.
For your reference, I stayed there for two hours because it was such a hot day, and one of my friends who likes handmade very much, stayed there for four hours even in summer!

We booked a trip on 15 November for Tomoe to guide us to see some of the less visited attractions in Kyoto. She very efficiently communicated and arranged an itinerary of Rurikoin, Enkouji temple and (at our request) Nijo castle. She arranged for us to have lunch at a nice tradiitonal Japanese restaurant. Tomoe has been a wonderful guide, patient and full of knowledge and with her cheerful personality made it a wonderful day for the family. Thumbs up and we would definitely recommend booking with her for her knowledge and attention to detail.
Dear Kelvin, Thank you very much for such a warmhearted review! All of your family are such nice people, and I really enjoyed the day with you and your family. Because you have already visited some places in Kyoto before, I suggested RURIKOIN even though it is so popular during this season and many people visit. I'm very sorry that there were so! so! many people there. (It was my pleasure to see your father took so many pictures and looked happy, though.) Please come to Kyoto again and let me see you sometime in the future. Thank you so much for finding me, booking me, and letting me see such nice people. You let me feel how happy I am to be a guide and could see you. TOMOE
Tomoe was a wonderful tour guide. She took my family to Fushimi Inari and a sake factory. She was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend the day with.
Dear William, Thank you very much for your warmhearted review. It was my best pleasure that I could see you and had such a wonderful half day with such a wonderful family like you! I really like, and feel very happy to be a guide which let me have such a wonderful encounter. Thank you so much for finding me, booking me as your guide, at the last minute. Please come to Kyoto again. I miss all of your family...TOMOE
We spent a wonderful morning with Tomoe touring in Kyoto. My wife and I found Tomoe on the TripleLights website only shortly before arriving in Kyoto. Our lack of organization and preparation was no issue for Tomoe, and she worked with us going back and forth, answering and asking questions to help fine tune a tour for us. Tomoe was friendly and gracious and full of information & advice. She cheerfully helped us with train schedules and suggestions for the rest of our stay. We would book with Tomoe again without hesitation.
Dear Mark, Thank you so much for your warmhearted review! We couldn' t have so much time before the tour and I could exchange only a few mails with you before the tour, however, I could have such a wonderful half day with you. You are such a wonderful couple with a history, and I enjoyed visiting places and talking with you. Kyoto is an old capital of Japan and there are many places to visit. I hope that you will have more time to visit Kyoto and I can see you again. Thank you very much for finding me and booking me as your private guide in Kyoto. Thank you so much for a precious meeting! TOMOE
I was fortunate to have visited Kyoto with my Mother (80yrs) and my Daughter (15yrs) in early October. I booked Tomoe to guide us to many wonderful areas in and around Kyoto including: Kinkakuji Temple, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Arashiyama monkey park and a lovely morning of shopping in the Sannenzaka area dressed in traditional Kimono. Tomoe also generously shared her favourite temple with us, a beautiful, tranquil temple set in peaceful gardens. Tomoe carefully curated tours for us each day which highlighted the beauty of Kyoto. Tomoe was effortlessly able to ensure the needs of my vegetarian Mother and my teenage Daughter were met with no difficulty at all. We were expertly guided through ticket queues, public transport and advised on the best place to stand for the perfect holiday photo... read more
Dear Samantha, Thank you sooo much for your warmhearted review!!! Even though 3 weeks have passed since I saw you leave for Kansai International Airport, I still remember my happy time as if it happened yesterday. Soon after I met you for the first time, I could feel as if you were one of my best friends or my sister. That's why you are such a nice and attractive person! Three days I spent with you became one of my most precious memories as a guide. I like your mother and daughter, too. They always made me feel relaxed. I'm very sorry that you had to give up the last part of your trip due to the coming typhoon, and I do hope that someday will come when I can guide you to Nara!!! I miss you so much...Thank you so much for finding me and choosing me as your guide. TOMOE
Tomoe had an excellent knowledge of Japanese history and culture, as well as very good command of the English language. She also went beyond her obligation, came earlier and met us on our train's platform. We felt this was the best way to experience Kyoto's historic sites.
Dear Mickey, Thank you so much for your warmhearted review. I could spend only half a day, however, I enjoyed the time with you, such a nice group of people so much. (I enjoyed exchanging mails with you before the tour, too.) There are many wonderful places to visit in Kyoto, so I hope that I can guide you to such places next time, too. I'm waiting for your next visit! TOMOE
