The attraction of Kyoto is classified to followings.
Since Kyoto had been 1200 years capital of Japan, there are more than 3000 temples and shrines. Many of them are designated as UNESCO World Heritages. Visitor can touch the long and deep history of Japanese authentic culture as well as Buddhism and Shintoism.
I would like to recommend short tea ceremony, kimono dressing. Besides, it is interesting Zen meditation and Samurai warrior performance.
It is sure to make a booking in advance when it is high season in April and Autumn.
Kyoto city is surrounded by nature-well-preserved mountain except south connecting Osaka. If you like mountain hiking, I'd like to propose Monkey Park in Arashiyama, Mt.Daimonji famous for August bonfire. And Kyoto Aquarium using fresh water is nice too.
Japanese authentic cuisine, called KAISEKI, is expensive but amazing not only taste but its desing. Besides KAISEKI, home made family dishes, called KYOTO OBANZAI, is popular with tasty and reasonable price and can try dietary like a Izakaya local restaurant.
If you are interested in ingredient and raw stuffs for cooking, Nishiki food market is recommendable. Exclusive Kyoto-originated vegetables, fresh fish products, Japanese sweets, and local cuisine are prepared from morning till early evening. Your appetite must be Irresistible. It is in the center of Kyoto, so after your stomach is full, a strolling around shopping streets will be nice too.
Biwako valley is easy to visit from Kyoto. Especially in winter season, visitors will be able to back to the time of childhood by playing on the snow wonderland.
6.Cherry blossom and crimson autumn leaves
There are so many nice places in Kyoto. I'd like to recommend Philosophers's path, Sosui creek area near my Villa.
7.Halal for Muslim
There are some halal restaurants and prayer room for Muslim people. I would like to assist.
8.My Kyoto Villa
If you are interested in ordinary Japanese traditional house with tatami mat floor, please drop by my Villa near Silver temple.
I am pleased to treat you with free green tea, sweets and seasonal fruits.
The examples of temple ans shrines.
1-1. Arashiyama bamboo forest
When it comes to Arashiyama, the bamboo forest should not be skipped. I am sure its stunning beauty must enchant your heart. In addition Tenryuji temple with landscape garden is must-see. If you like mountain-hiking and animal, wild monkey park is commendable.
1-2. Golden temple
It is one of 17 World cultural heritages in Kyoto. Golden Pavilion using 25 kilogram is breathtaking through the year. It was built by Samurai leader Shogunate, Ashikaga Family, 15th century. It became Zen meditation temple after social place for noble people.
1-3. Fushimi Inari shrine
There are more than 3000 shrines and temples but Fushimi Inari is one of the must-visit. Visitors will surprise beautiful tens of thousand vermilion torii gates sprawling the mountain. People pray business success in connection with rice harvest symbolized by fox tail.
1-4. Kiyomizudera temple
It is located east part of Kyoto, mountain site. Incessantly sacred waterfall purify body and soul of visitors. Kannon Bodhisattva statue is watching our world from the heaven. Balcony is famous funny story.
It is near my villa near Silver temple. It is very quiet and serene. The school of Buddhism is belong to Tendai-sect. Not only is beautiful a cherry blossom but autumn leaves in November.
1. Tour guide fee
Traveler's own expenses.
2.Temples and shrines admission fee
For the tour between Tokyo and Osaka,Kyoto, another JPY 8000 shall be added to guide fee as a train ticket for guide.
1. Busy and crowded season
March to April and September to November are peak season. The transportation like a city bus is very busy and prone to take long time.
The number of possible places to visit will be maximum three or four for one day tour.
2. Hotel booking
The population of Kyoto city is only 1.5 million but more than tens of thousand visitors are observed every year.
I'd like to recommend visitors to make as early as possible hotel booking. The room charge varies widely location to location and grade by grade.
The streets are busy in particular at high season and festival time, so it is necessary to consider the time of moving by bus.
Instead of city bus, using a taxi is convenient and faster from place to place despite more expensive than city bus.
Most taxi can accommodates up to four passengers except a driver. And hourly rented van with a driver is expensive but very convenient.
I would like to recommend it. I can manage and book. read more

Mr. SHIN was amazing, polite, insightful and very hard working by going above and beyond to give me the best experience of Japan. Even before I landed in Japan, Mr. SHIN on his own send me different routes options to come from airport to my hotel. He even visited my hotel a day before my arrival to understand what’s near my hotel and send me details and pictures of my hotel. Even before my tour with Mr. SHIN started, I was overwhelmed with his superior proactive customer service. He really wanted me to have a very good time in Japan. A day before my tour started, I came to know there is Sumo wrestling tournament in Tokyo where all the tickets were sold out. I asked Mr. SHIN if there is any way I can get to see Sumo as it was bucket list item for me. Mr. SHIN did his research and picked m... read more
Hello Mr. Vaidyanathan Seshan. Thank you very much for your nice review. I think your busy Japan tour has been successfully completed. I’m so happy. As you say, especially first visitors need various information like transportation, shopping, dining as well english communication situation. I feel good when my guest can have a smooth tour. Remembering some activities of our days, especially the Sumo match,I never forget your great passion! I really appreciate your patience in snowy cold morning to get limited number of tickets. Lucky us we made it! But it’s worth waiting in a long line to get it because Sumo shows us a lot of interesting things. Small wrestlers sometimes kick out bigger guy. We can feel great power and guts through that. Thank you again I wish happiness of you and you... read more
As a guide, Shin went above and beyond for our group. We had some specific requirements, and he had no problem mapping out the perfect route. Shin is your family member in Japan. He invited us to his home for tea and sweets. Generous with his time and heart. Besides being a guide, Shin kept in touch with me way in advance to help me plan this trip to Japan. He went above and beyond to help us deal with transporting our luggage through Yamato. Words cannot describe his generosity and kindness. You are not only hiring a guide with shin, you are gaining a personal pal to help you on your whole journey to this amazing country! Arigatou gozaimasu!
Hello Lisa san, Our tour time was short and is already gone, but now is the time to remember a lot of memories in Kyoto. Thank you very much for your sincere and nice comment. I am so happy to know your Japan tour has been successfully ended and already flied back to the home. In 1000 years old capital Kyoto, we experienced historical temples and shrine visits, tasting green and plum team, happy hour at local vegetarian restaurant. I wish you and your friends happiness and prosperity in near year 2020. Arigato gozai-mashita, mata aimasho !
Shin was amazing! I hope to see him again next time we are in Japan. He truly cares about you enjoying Japan. He did a lot of things on our tour that were way beyond what was expected just to make sure we enjoyed our time there. When we look back on our time in Japan, the kindness of Shin will be one of the things we remember the most!
Dr.Baron, Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. Despite a half day tour from Osaka sea port, we enjoyed Osaka castle, the samurai history in the 17th century, and at Sumiyoshi shrine we could feel the sacred Japanese shinto atmosphere. I am looking forward to seeing you again hopefully in the season of cherry spring. I always wish you happiness and prosperity from Japan.
Shin provided a customized day in Kyoto for us. As our plans changed, Shin was able to adapt the itinerary to include a tour of a sake brewery and squeezed in a quick silk kimono fashion show! The Fushimi-inari shrine was as dramatic as expected, the other shrines we visited were lovely, we enjoyed some great street snacks and a fascinating traditional lunch. All in all, our time with Shin was a highlight of our nineteen days in Japan.
Hello Shelly san, I really appreciate wonderful review. Getting to know your long day Japan tour successfully ended, I feel so happy. And I am glad we could visit many unique places in Kyoto not written on a guide-book, super off-the-beaten-paths. Though Kyoto is small town, so many charms are orderly packed inside like a jewelry box. Springs of the cherry blossoms, summers of the festival, falls of color foliage and winters with crispy fresh air offer beautiful seasonal faces all the time. I am listening nice songs produced by your son, nice musician, and also my grand kid enjoys 3-D picture book every day. I am looking forward to seeing next chances from my heart. Thank you very much ! SHIN.
It’s our first time and first day in Japan. We are so lucky that Shin-san is our tour guide! He is an excellent, courteous, knowledgeable, and amazing guide! He is highly organized, he called and even sent me an email the day before our tour. He even provided us the Plan/flowchart of the train schedule and helped us with the money exchange. We visited so many places in one day on Kyoto: The Golden Temple and Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. In Osaka: The Osaka-jo Castle and Dotombori. We could have not asked for anything more, “we’ve got the best tour guide and the group were very, very happy!😊🤗👋
Dear Angelina san and all beautiful friends, Thank you very much for your awesome nice review ! On a single day quick tour visiting Kyoto and Osaka, we chose most famous four landmarks, Golden temple, Arashiyama bamboo grove, Osaka-jo castle, Dotombori food street. So,, I really appreciate your patient and positive cooperation all the way despite I always let you get rushed like a bullet-like train driver. Please have a good time and relax on a cruiser too. Our tour is like just one page of my life. But I can say I will keep it mind forever by shining my tour guide life. Maraming salamat and Arigato gozaimashita ! SHIN
