What to Expect

"Be a Monkey!" Experience

Tired of temples and shrines?? Then how about surrounding yourself with wild monkeys?

In this monkey mountain, you can enjoy monkeys right beside you with no cages!! It is common to sit on a bench and monkeys will come join you.
It takes about 15-20min. walking to get to the top of the mountain, where you can buy treats for monkeys and feed them by hand!!
There's no place like Monkey Mountain on Earth!!

In addition to the monkeys, the harmony of Kyoto city and the colors of the mountains are breathtakingly beautiful especially in the spring and fall.

Beside monkey mountains, a stroll around Togetsu Bridge shopping and enjoying local street food, and the famous Bamboo Groves is so relaxing, it will make you forget about your hectic everyday life.

“ Highlight of our visit to Japan ”

On our first morning in Kyoto, we had Masaki guide us around the Arashiyama area where we experienced the bamboo grove, monkey mountain and great traditional food and shopping. It was a really enjoyable half day tour for our family and Masaki was fantastic. His knowledge of traditional and contemporary Japanese culture was first rate. He connected easily with the whole family. He was able to get us in and out of the various places avoiding the busiest times while being at the right places at the right times to see the highlights. And to top it off ... he took us to a local Ramem lunch spot which was the best meal we had on our entire trip to Japan. Thank you Masaki for such a memorable experience!!

“ Wonderful time exploring Kyoto ”

Very much enjoyed seeing the monkey park, alternative uncrowded bamboo Forrest, and special temples and shrines with Masaki. He took us to places the big busses couldn't go to and is very knowledgeable about Kyoto.

“ Kyoto In A Day ”

Just returned to Hawaii from a quick trip to Japan which included 2 days in Kyoto. First, if you're thinking about taking a relaxing trip to Kyoto avoid the Thanksgiving weekend! It's already peak season to visit Kyoto to witness the changing colors for autumn, but what is Thanksgiving day in the US is also a national holiday in Japan. Everything and everywhere was crowded with local and foreign tourists. Talking Saturday night Las Vegas strip crowds and Disneyland Main Street after the fireworks crowded sidewalks! Did not see that coming so didn't plan for that! Fortunately, we had Masaki as our tour guide and he did plan for it! Masaki or "Makoon" which is his nickname, was EXCEPTIONAL. He anticipated the crowds and had it programmed into his itinerary for the day. He had us start early and we were able to stroll through Gion and take in the culture behind the mystery. He was well informed and prepared so provided unique insight to every site we visited. We visited numerous temples and shrines (he explained the difference!) before the crowds become a problem. Instead of relying on taxis to get around which is the norm for private tours, he had planned using the subways and rail because of the anticipated traffic congestion on the surface streets. He even had us enter the bamboo forest from the exit end to avoid the crowd trying to get in the front gate. Simple things which showed that Makoon had taken the extra effort and thought in pre-planning to ensure that our day would be as stress-free and enjoyable as possible! Our day tour of Kyoto could have easily gone the frustrating route with all the crowds, lines, traffic, etc. but we were very fortunate to have Makoon as our guide. His dedication, sincere love of the city, and his efforts to make your visit truly memorable was quite impressive. Mahalo Makoon for a job well done!

“ "A relaxed and well thought fun tour." ”

The tour was well planned and tailored for me and my mom. Makoon was very clear and effective with his communication skills, knowlegeable about Japan's history (I like that the tour was interactive) he's fun, personable , sensitive to your needs and made suggestions to help us maximize time to cover the highlights of our tour. I like the fact that he made sure we avoided the massive crowds as it is now the peak of travel here in Japan. Lastly, he made sure we got back to our hotel safely after the tour by accompanying us back to the hotel with his own time. This is taking an extra mile and I think it's above and beyond. "Hi Makoon, Thanks for the local food suggestions, local tips for shopping and peace and quiet sightseeing". We had a great time and experience.

“ A great Insider’s view of Kyoto ”

I have travelled to many places but never had a guide impress me more. First of all, I appreciate his communications prior to my travel providing me insight on the weather conditions, cash requirements needed to enter the sites, and his flexibility in planning an itinerary of my favorite sites to visit. On the day of our tour, he provided excellent directions of where we would meet at Kyoto Station and upon meeting him his friendly demeanor let me know I was going to have a great tour. He created for me a brochure with our day’s plans with time and even some of the history of the places we were to visit which was great to have. Masaki had so much background knowledge on the sites that we visited that made it more personal instead of boring see the sites. He made the history come alive in the sites we were seeing that day. His photography skills were excellent and he shared all his photos after for my memories plus he knew exactly where to go on these sites to find the best views and photo op. Our lunch location and food were excellent - he asked of course ahead of time what kind of food I wanted and made the best plan. I highly recommend Masaki for an organized, insightful, fabulous yet fun tour on your visit to Kyoto.

“ Visit to Arashiyama ”

"Makoon" is an easy going very friendly guide. He made us very comfortable and we felt like he was our good friend whom we have not seen for a long time. He provided a clear itinerary of our tour of west side of Kyoto. But it was very flexible in changing. Loads of suggestions that helped us decide what we wanted to do, what we should see, what and where to buy. Never once he pushed or hurried us up. He also took us to a very good tasty local Kyoto ramen restaurant that is outside of the touristy areas, which we would never have known. My friend and I had a fantastic time. We would definitely get him as our guide and also recommend to all our friends!

“ Highlight of our trip! ”

I cannot say enough good things about Makoon. He is the best! He responds quickly, he is flexible, knowledgeable, kind and great with kids!! Our tour with him was definitely the best part of our trip. If we are ever back in Kyoto he will be the first person we call. Thank you Makoon!!

“ The Key to Kyoto ”

Makoon opened our eyes, ears, hearts and souls to the beauty of Kyoto. While our visit was short, our experience was infinite as we will carry these memories for the rest of our lives. Makoon is a teacher more than a guide and we highly recommend him to future Kyoto visitors. It will take too long to describe all that we did and learned, so I will say that this visit gave us a thirst to return one day and to tell our friends and family to visit this beautiful city. Thank you again Makoon for all your services!

“ Great Day! ”

Masaki or Makoon (as he likes to be known) was the perfect guide for our family of first timers to Kyoto. His knowledge and passion for his town are infectious and we learnt so much. We contacted Makoon with how we wanted our day to look and he catered perfectly! We wanted a bit of the old and the new and to also see things from a locals point of view - all perfect! Not only is Makoon a great guide, he's a great guy too! We thoroughly recommend him for Kyoto visits! Thanks

“ A tour guide that makes every experience better ”

Makoon can take a simple tour of a temple and makes it feel like the movie Night at the Museum. A real life visualization of history from the story telling mind of Makoon! The perfect understanding of what is just the right amount of knowledge to pass on without making it boring or too technical. Detail orientated, flexible and caring, Makoon was more than a tour guide, he became our friend. Thank you for a great day in Kyoto.

“ Kyota in a day ”

Masaki was in one word excellent! He was knowledgeable - knew how to maximize time and avoid crowds. He customized our trip. We quickly took his advice not to try to bucket list Kyota and see everything in a day - what sage advice. Sure, it can be done but you will miss out on the true atmosphere/energy of the sites you visit. We had thought about staying on the east side but Masaki knew that one of the temples we wanted to see was going to be under construction (something not found on any website - until after we got there) Great job!! We stayed west and the golden temple, Zen rock garden and the bamboo forest area were wonderful. We are good walkers/hikers and never felt rushed or tired. The highlight was the restaurant that Masaki picked for lunch. An unbelievable meal. We opted for the middle kaiseki which was incredible, the food was perfect but the artistic beauty and the detail to presentation - even down to the antique plates/bowls was awesome. Plus the view over the river was a nice plus, despite the rain outside during lunch. Finally, we ended up in the Gian region for early evening. Although Masaki did not come with us on this part he planned our whole hiking tour and what to look for. We are not big into shopping but he had places to purchase anything you might want - including art which we did want to look at. He has a car - air-conditioned (which in summer was a godsend) Also made transportation easy. We had contemplated a bike tour but so thankful we nixed that idea. It rained part of the time and was hot. He also took great pictures of us as well excellent English. Next time we are back we will definitely book with Masaki again.

“ Best Tour Guide in Kyoto!!! ”

We are first time visitors with family of 4. Makoon thoughtfully planned 1.5 days of itineraries that satisfied each of our interests. He was very flexible and accommodating. We enjoyed his narrations of the history for each destination. He even made us daily personalized brochures that included our schedule and fun facts about each location. Wow! We felt special!!! This made our tour so much more interesting. His English was top notch. In terms of food, he took us to a variety of different places where the locals go. Not touristy at all. We loved loved all the food! Makoon was thoughtful, charming, and so much fun to be with. Most of all, he was kind and genuine. Don't tour Kyoto with any other guide. Makoon is THE guide for you!!!

“ Great last minute decision! ”

We were lucky to be able to book Makoon the day before our tour. He e-mailed us asking for our preferences for the tour and for lunch and he made all of the necessary arrangements. He even provided a personalized brochure/itinerary for the tour. He arrived at our hotel early and off we went to see Kiyomizu Temple, Gion including Pontocho, and the Fushimi Inari Shrine. We were even able to see a Geiko and Maiko! We stopped for lunch in-between at an excellent Yakitori restaurant he had booked ahead of time. He was nice enough to take us to a supermarket looking for a certain kind of candy. Having his car for the tour provided a great deal of flexibility. It was nice to get his cultural insights and learn details about each site we would not have otherwise known. His english is outstanding and he answered all of our multiple questions. As an added benefit, he brought his camera and took pictures and videos of us throughout the tour and shared them with us at the end. We truly appreciated his enthusiasm for Kyoto, as well as his insights and overall high level of customer service. Having the photos as a reminder of the great tour made it even better. We highly recommend him as your tour guide!

“ A perfect tailor-made day tour ”

After visiting 4 times Japan we were looking for a day tour in Kyoto focused on places we did not visit or were "off the beaten tracks". Masaki prepared us a fully tailored-made day tour. He started with giving us a leaflet explaining all the places to be visited. He was very attentive to our requests and allowed us to discover beautiful places without any tourists which was important for us. We had lunch in a good local sushi restaurant without any tourist either. He is very fluent in English as he worked several years in Canada and very knowledgable on Japan culture. I would recommend Masaki without any hesitation for anyone looking for a guide in Kyoto.

“ Excellent family tour of Kyoto ”

Makoon was an exceptionally good guide for me and my family in Kyoto. I'm a pretty critical person but Makoon gave us a five-star experience. Some of the best things were: his email communication before the trip, his excellent English and North American accent, the way he encouraged and connected with my entire family, including my tween/teen kids, and his flexibility. Further to all of that, you could tell that he is really a genuinely great human being, and touring with him was a true win-win - you could tell that he really loved sharing Kyoto with us. I had been to some of the places we visited but Makoon brought a tablet with a couple of slide of grounding information (e.g. about emporers and shoguns) that really made the experience deeper for all of us. My wife and kids generally don't like to go to museums and to "learn" on vacation, but Makoon snuck in some basic Japanese cultural and history lessons such that the kids didn't even realize they were learning something! I would suggest Makoon with absolutely zero reservations.

“ Best tour guide of our entire trip! ”

We hired Masaki (Makoon) for 2 days while we were in Kyoto. He was exactly what we weee looking for. My kids absolutely loved him and his tour. He was so knowledgeable about Japanese history (including the Relstiknships between the Shogun and the Emperor) and was able to explain it to our children in such a fun and easy way. He has his own car so we were able to avoid the hot days when we traveled from different sites. He took us to the popular sites and even some less frequented sites that were amazing. (We even had one site to ourselves for awhile with views of the entire city of Kyoto.). One of highlights for the tour for my kids was having lunch at a sushi conveyor belt restaurant where we ordered food on an IPad like device. The food was delivered on a belt. We deposited our empty plates in a dispenser and for every 5 plates we would get a chance to win a prize. Definitely something to check out if you are traveling with your family. He also gave us some great recommendations for dinners while we were in Kyoto. Honestly, the 2 days with Makoon were the highlight of our trip in Japan. I highly recommend hiring Makoon for your trip in Kyoto.

“ Best Day of our 10 Day Japan Trip! ”

I normally don't write reviews but I felt compelled after how incredible our day was! Masaki was very informative but in a totally relatable manner. Knowledge was passed on through conversation rather than a history lesson. He catered the trip entirely to us and was very flexible. Truly can't speak highly enough about how great this tour was! We have countless photos and memories of our fantastic Kyoto journey!

Makoon was one of the nicest tour guides I have ever had in my travels to over 29 countries. He was superiorly knowledgeable, knew the best places and times of days to attend them and responded to my questions before booking within hours. His english was superb and I feel lucky that we had him for the entire day in Kyoto!

“ The best of the best!!! ”

Absolutely excellent guide. Many e-mail communications before our trip to hone and finalize our itinerary. Has a car which made it possible to get to several distant sites of interest. Brought his own camera to take our photos, and e-mailed them to us. He is very informative and knows the area well. Very accommodating. I recommend him highly without hesitation. You'll be fortunate if you are able to book him.

“ Outstanding tour experience in Kyoto thanks to Makoon! ”

We were so fortunate to have Masaki (Makoon) as our guide for our day tour of Kyoto. Makoon's service started well before our actual tour. Makoon tended to every detail of our group's (4 adults) request via detailed emails prior to our arrival. As we were arriving by ship, Makoon personally met us at the Kobe cruise port. From the very start, we were impressed with Makoon's professional and friendly manner. He was a delight to be with from start to finish! As we had requested a PRIVATE Maiko dinner while in Kyoto, Makoon was able to arrange this for us. This was the highlight of our entire tour of Japan! Thank you, Makoon! Makoon attended to every detail and was always willing to modify our plans based on our desires (especially since we preferred more eating and shopping opportunities, as well as trying to avoid touristy crowds at the popular sites). He was most accommodating. Makoon even took personal pictures of our day which he immediately emailed to us....what a nice touch! We all admitted that Makoon was probably one of the BEST guides that we have ever had (and we have traveled extensively around the world). We would rate Makoon as a "10 star guide" if the rating scale would allow this! If we ever find ourselves back in Kyoto (and we are certain that we will return) we would definitely engage Makoon's services. Thank you, Makoon! Paul, Marie, Robert, and Diana (friends from Hawaii)

“ Highly Recommended Guide! ”

We love the flexibility of doing our own itineraries during our travels instead of joining tour groups. For Kyoto, however, I took a risk and hired a private guide with a car to make the most of our one full day in that beautiful city. It was a very smart decision that was worth the money! We were able to see some major attractions which would have been impossible without a car (and with a kid!). We were also treated to historical and cultural background stories of each site, which we would have surely missed had we been on our own. Lastly, our guide took pictures (which was not mentioned in the package) and sent it to us a few hours after the tour. These pictures are very much treasured since we rarely get family pictures that are not selfies during our trips. Makoon, our guide, is highly recommended! He speaks English well and has a knack of sharing stories that kept our interest, including that of our 8 yo son.

“ He was the best guide We could experience. ”

It was very comftable trip. He has his own car to take us to the inportant place we needed to visit. His english was pretty good compared to other guides I met in Japan. He could explain all the histories and meanings of the places. Very kind and friendly. I would absolutely recomend to other peoples.

“ Highly professional guide. Covered all that we requested to see including an authentic lunch. ”

We had the most wonderful day with Masaki. I specified what I wanted to see in Kyoto after doing some research and he covered everything with complete knowledge of the sites including background information. He made the day fun and convenient. His knowledge of English was perfect and providing private transportation helped us to efficiently and comfortably get around without losing time. We learned so much from him and felt as if we were spending the day with a friend. He paid attention to detail in his e-mail conversations with us before our visit so that we had all the information we needed to meet him for our day of touring. We highly recommend Masaki for his professionalism and knowledge of history and current events.

“ Excellent guide ”

My husband and our two daughters (13 and 8 years old) recently spent a couple of weeks travelling around Japan. We paid for a number of tours in different cities, but without doubt Makoon was the best guide we hired. He was very organised, spoke excellent English, understood what we wanted to achieve and was very friendly. We covered a lot on our tour and it all went very smoothly, including choosing an excellent place for lunch that met our various culinary tastes! Both of our daughters enjoyed his company and we found him to be very professional. If you have children do visit Monkey Mountain, we are from England but we live in Asia and thought we wouldn't bother because we are use to seeing monkeys, but it is good fun and worth the walk. Highly recommended, you won't find a better tour guide.

Masaki is an amazing guide. Knowledgeable, friendly, very attentive and really enjoys what he is doing. We had a great trip around Kyoto area with him and when we come back to Japan, will surely want him to give us excursions. I highly recommend Masaki to anyone traveling to Kyoto.

“ Amazing tour guide ”

We toured with Masaki for two days and would have done a third if he had not already been booked. He was so knowledgeable and personable. My 2 teen boys had a great time with him. He helped us before we came to figure out a flow to fit in all the things we wanted to see, he gave us a guide each day of what we were seeing, took us to great lunch locations, took family photos for us and knew so much about everything we visited. It was also great he had a car as we could get between sights very efficiently. Highly recommend him!

“ The best tour guid we had in Japan ”

His English was very good. He was clear, knowledgeable, fanny, interesting. He came with his car and umbrellas for all of us. He took pictures with his camera and sent it later to all of us. Because we have some time left according to our plan he took us to another site. He explain about the Japanese culture - he tell things you cannot google up. He is the perfect guid you want to have.

“ Outstanding guide - Kyoto's major sites in a day without stress (has a car!) ”

Makoon is outstanding and I highly recommend him as a guide for Kyoto. If you have never been in Kyoto, you need to know that it's not easy to move around without a car; Makoon has a car and this makes a major difference in your experience... visiting major sites in one day without rushing around and taking your time to enjoy each visit. Makoon is very passionate about Japan history and culture. He is energetic, friendly and very patient (a major plus when traveling with kids). Beforehand, he collaborated with me to plan the our trip and customize the day to my family needs (me, my wife and 2 kids: 11 and 12). During the tour, Makoon received us with a printed, personalized brochure with the day's activities (completely unexpected!). Makoon drove us around Kyoto while sharing great highlights of Japanese history and traditions. He carried around his professional camera snapping photos during the day. Makoon could withstand my daughter's interrogatory about Geishas with dozens of questions and he was extremely kind and patient. At the end of the day, he sent me a link to download all the photos he took during the tour (how cool is this!). He made our time in Kyoto a major experience. We couldn't have wished for a better guide.

“ Facsinating tour, awesome guide! A+++ ”

Our tour with Makoon was amazing! Prior to the tour, he emailed us a spreadsheet of estimated times & expenses for each stop. At the beginning of the tour we were each given a personalized pamphlet outlining our destinations. His professionalism and dedication to the tour continued throughout the day. He had a tablet with visuals which allowed him to explain and expand upon the history of each place, pointing out small details that we wouldn't have been able to appreciate if he had not been with us. He was quite knowledgeable and enjoyed answering questions we had along the way. A factor in our decision to go with Makoon was his ability to drive us to each site. His car was clean and he was a careful driver. Having the car made it so we were able to enjoy four destinations in one day (even though it was a busy season!). Everything about Makoon's tour was well researched. He found for us a restaurant that prepared a beautiful and delicious meal that met our somewhat difficult dietary needs! (We're vegetarian.) We really enjoyed being part of a small tour as it felt more personable. We greatly appreciated how easy and comfortable it was to chat. As the day went on it felt more like we were sightseeing with a friend. When the tour (and day) came to an end, we found ourselves deeply regretting not booking more time with him! He left with us a deeper understanding and appreciation for Japan and it's history there in the iconic city of Kyoto. Would we do another tour with him? MOST DEFINITELY, YES! We highly recommend Makoon! Our tour with Makoon was absolutely delightful and we will fondly remember it as a highlight from our trip to Japan. Thank you so much!!

“ Great Day with a Fantastic Lunch! ”

Masaki provided a great look into Kyoto. It was just me and he was concerned about crowds so he used his own vehicle to drive us for the day. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about all the sites we visited. We had an amazing lunch in the Gion area! A very small restaurant that a tourist would never know about, but the food and presentation were amazing. We talked about that a lot of discovering a new area is the food, so when we returned to my hotel he worked with the front desk to book a dinner reservation for me. That restaurant was also amazing. He was very professional, knowledgeable and engaging. I would highly recommend.

“ Kyoto Custom Tour ”

Dear Makoon san, thank you once again, we thoroughly enjoyed our private day tour of Kyoto with you yesterday. Our group of 4 from Australia spent the day soaking up the sights, stories, history and culture of Kyoto and Japan in general. Your ability to deliver this knowledge was something that we had rarely experienced with tour guides in the past. We very much appreciated you taking the time to contact us and advise us regarding selecting an appropriate itinerary and then continuing this contact right up to the day of our tour offering advice regarding expected weather conditions and how to dress etc.. It meant that when we met you for the first time in our hotel foyer, we met you as a friend rather than a stranger. Your suggested itinerary proved to be perfect and your choice of lunch stop at a local Ramen house, delicious. All in all a great day in Kyoto with you as our guide we had the best tour possible. For anyone planning to visit Kyoto you will not find a better more friendly and knowledgable guide than Makoon. Best regards, Garry & Esther Bellairs

“ Day Out In Kyoto ”

Makoon has been a great guide for our first day in Kyoto. We went to many places and he explained a lot of the traditions in Kyoto to us, which made our trip very educational. We have learnt so much from him, compared to if we were to go around Kyoto on our own. He is also a very patient man and he constantly checks on us to make sure we are comfortable, and if there are anything else we like to do so he can bring us. He brought us to the most delicious Tai-yaki and Daifuku place!! He made our very trip memorable and educational.

“ A day in Kyoto with a great guide ”

We had a great day with Makoon. He arrived on time at our hotel and handed us our personalized itinerary pamphlet showing the places we scheduled to visit along with a brief description of each location. We only had one full day in Kyoto so we had planned to visit four sites. He scheduled the visits well so that we could get to all of the sites. At each site, the information he gave us made our visit more meaningful and allowed us to appreciate the site more. He has his own camera and took pictures of us so we could enjoy the sites more. We were able to have family pictures, which is rare these days with teenage children. So glad we found this private tour site and Makoon.

Makoon is the best private tour guide who have met. As this is our first trip to Kyoto, Makoon was very patience and accommodating to our every needs. My Husband and I are very thankful to have such a wonderful person to show us around and the extra efforts made to ensure we had a memorable time in Kyoto. Thank you so much Makoon ! Not forgetting the beautiful photo shots too. We would like to engage your service again when we next visit Kyoto. Best Regards, Jenny and Andrew

“ Kyoto Highlights ”

Makoon went above and beyond to make sure we had a pleasant and fulfilling tour of highlights of Kyoto. His flexibility, thoughtfulness and knowledge really made the tour memorable. He went out of his way to pick us up at the Kyoto Train Station, took photographs of our family and sent them immediately, and could answer all our questions, no matter how obscure. He was definitely hospitable, helping us from way before the trip with our questions and concerns with our hotel choice, restaurant bookings, and other factors which allowed our vacation to proceed without a single problem.

“ Excellent private tour guide who takes care of what you really want! ”

Masaki is one of the best private tour guide and interesting person I've met. He gave my wife and I personalized itinerary and took professional photos for us on all the hot spots around Kyoto. We loved every bit of this experience and well worth the value. Recommend this to everyone who wishes to see the best bits of Kyoto.

Very Good

“ A day in Kyoto ”

Makoon was a great guide during our recent stay in Kyoto. He is knowledgeable of the historical sites and it's culture. Other than being a guide, he was also our photographer :) Many thanks for taking the pics for us. Highly recommendable to my friends who plan to visit Kyoto. Stay in touch, Makoon.

“ Great guide - knowledgeable and friendly ”

We booked a whole day tour with Masaki Makoon to see Kyoto. We only had one day to spend there, so it was important to have someone with a car. Makoon met us right outside of the gate at Kyoto Station with a sign with the name of my entire family of four (2 kids ages 7 and 11). Upon meeting us, he provided everyone with their own itinerary and schedule of the tour. We were pretty aggressive in trying to see four major sites during an official holiday for Japan, but Makoon was able to navigate us safely through. In addition to the tour, he also reserved a great local restaurant based on the request we provided before the tour. The lunch was the best food we had during our 7 day trip in Japan. The one added bonus is that Makoon also brings his own camera during the tour and is constantly taking pictures of my family. Within 1 hour of the tour ending, he had already uploaded all the pictures and video to his dropbox to share with me. This service was free as part is his tour. In conclusion, you will not find a better guide to explore Kyoto with. He is very responsive (sent his initial introductory email within 30 mins of booking), extremely safe driver, knowledgeable and will work around your schedule and dietary needs. Thank you Makoon for such a great and memorable day in Kyoto.

“ Far Exceeded my Expectations!! ”

This was my first trip to Japan. I was visiting alone and wanted the most out of the experience. It was also my first time to use a tour guide. The experience was incredible! Masaki was so easy to work with. The strong communication prior to my arrival allowed me to relax and enjoy the plans. Since he has his own vehicle we were able to visit many sites and not worry about how to get around. I was so pleasantly surprised upon meeting Masaki that he has a personalized brochure created to share information about the day and historical information on each site we were visiting. This experience was so incredible and Masaki was an exceptional host and guide. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting. Thank you again, Masaki. Heidi Albee

“ A very well planned day of touring ”

Masaki-san put together a brilliant plan for the day based on advanced communication with me. We were able to see a great deal more than I could have ever hoped to on my own. Having his own car for transportation meant much less hassle in getting from place to place. His knowledge level and enjoyable personality also made the day a great one. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone and I hope to tour with him again soon

“ " Kyoto Day Tour " ”

Masaki " Makoon" did an amazing job as our tour guide in Kyoto. Driving his car was pretty convenient since we were able to see many different places in 1 day. He has an in depth Knowledge of the sights we visited. He's nice and funny and we really enjoyed the sushi experienced. Bringing his camera was also an added plus since he took pictures of us and send it back digitally. He's also very flexible with his time. You cannot go wrong if you utilize his services.

“ 10/10 AMAZING ”

The tour with Makoon was fantastic. We had 2 adults and a teenage son so with only 2 full days in Kyoto we had to fit in all the main sights in 1 day. Makoon did an excellent job explaining the history of each place and he made it very entertaining. He was very knowledgable and very patient with us. Having a car was just great as he parked very close to most sights. We would highly recommend Makoon as your tour guide in Kyoto. 10/10

“ Wonderful guide in Kyoto ”

We had such a great time with Makoon, and I can't recommend him as a guide highly enough. He helped us put together an itinerary based on our ideal day and his recommendations. We had a really fun time enjoying the sights, eating great food, and listening to the history of Kyoto. Having him as our guide was easy and like adding another friend to the group... one with a lot of knowledge about Kyoto. :) Makoon also brought along his camera and snapped lots of photos of our group throughout the day, which we really appreciated. We now have several great group photos within the shrines to commemorate our trip. Thank you for everything!

Masaki was AMAZING !!! A "not to miss" if you are in Kyoto !!! He was a true gift during our trip. His command of the English language is excellent, and understanding of both cultures unparralleled. His knowledge of the area is vast. He is very accommodating with the age range in our group (16 yrs old - 56 yrs old) and his planning and follow through are impeccable!!! He even helped us plan the rest of our trip and assist with purchasing our train tickets. Riding in his private car with air conditioning was a real treat!!! If in Kyoto again will defiently plan with Masaki !!!

The tour is very flexible and very organized. Makoon picked us up from the hotel with his car so theres no need for public transportation. He reserved a walking tour for us at santory beer factory. He also help us with many side requests like reserving seats at the restaurants and helping us with directions. These will not be possible with other tour guide. Thank you makoon!
