If you are tired of hustle and bustle in the cities, why don't you visit Arima Onsen Hot Spring?
Arima Onsen is one of the oldest hot springs in Japan. The town is very small and has a traditional and friendly atomosphere.
The history goes back to the 7th century, and numerous big figures came to visit. It has the highest concentration of salt, and you can actually bathe in.
Feel free to personalize this offer with Mari.
There are two routes to go to Arima from Kobe.
One is to take trains from Shin-Kobe station. (From Shin-Osaka station, it's 15 min. by Shinkansen bullet train to Shin-Kobe station. From Osaka station it's 20 min. by JR Special Rapid train to Sannomiya station.)
By this route it takes only about 30 min. and will have more time in Arima.
The other route is a little more complicated, but you will have a great view of Rokko Mountain Range.
You will take a bus from JR Rokkomichi station(It's 30min. by JR Rapid train from JR Osaka.) to Rokko Cable station. From there you will take a cable car up the mountain, and get to Tenrandai Observatory. On top of the mountain there are several restaurants, a garden and a museum; you may enjoy having lunch in one of the restaurants there. Then we will take a bus to the Arima ropeway station.
The ropeway ride is quite exciting; you cannot believe it's less than an hour away from the city.
From the Arima ropeway station, it's about 20 min. walk to the town of Arima.
Exploring a Japanese hot spring town is a lot of fun and relaxing. You can stroll taking a bath at Kinsen(Gold bath) or Ginsen(Silver bath), visiting some sources of hot spring where you see steams coming up, visiting a museum of Japanese toy collection, and eating local senbei crackers or soba noodles.
If you prefer to eat authentic Japanese cuisine, you can at a restaurant in a Japanese inn.
On the way back, we will take trains/subways to either Shin-Kobe or JR Sannomiya station.
