What to Expect

You can see beautiful Japanese folkhouses from the samurai period to the former century carefully preserved. Some are from the same area with Shirakawago, the World Heritage. They make you feel travelling back to the past as if we used a time machine. These houses are built without using nails.

The farming tools, weaving machines and daily utensils are also displayed, so I would explain about the Japanese culture, and answer your questions about them. Some of the houses were moved from Gokayama many years before it was acknowledged as a World Heritage. If you don't have the opportunity to visit Gokayama or Shirakawago, you can get the feel of it by visiting the houses in this museum.

After going up the hill and exiting the open-air museum, we'll walk ten minutes or so to Mt. Masugatayama, where we could view the Metropolis Tokyo.

Traveling back to Shinjuku, we will go to the observation deck of the Tokyo Metropolitan Office. During the twilight, we might be able to have a better view than daytime.

If you still have enough energy, I can walk with you to the one of the following options: 1)Samurai Museum (1900 yen, children 3-12 800 yen) , 2) the entrance of Robot Restaurant, 3)the entrance of a beautiful Japanese restaurant using a former mansion (yashiki):Reservation is desirable, so please tell me if you would like me to book it for you. They could serve vegetarian cuisines if booking three days in advance, 4) Gonpachi, the Kill Bill restaurant in Roppongi, using Subway, or 5) Shibuya crossing by eight-minute train ride.

“ Knowledge Guide - Fun to spend the day with! ”

Yoko was very thoroughly prepared for our trip to Mt.Fuji. We knew visibility would be bad with a typhoon coming the next day, but we enjoyed all the activities she recommended even though we couldn't see the mountain. Yoko is very responsive online and easy to talk to during our tour. She knew a lot of interesting facts about sights we saw on the way out to the Mt.Fuji area, and recommended a great place for lunch. She took extra care to make sure we were all having a good time. She even went the extra mile to help me look for plum sake at the end of our trip when I mentioned I was looking for some. I would recommend Yoko to anyone looking for a guide!

Yoko:

I appreciate your great review so much, Morgan. You are not just beautiful but also so intelligent and also your friends, Marisa, Arianna, and Steele, the handsome guy who made princess Mount Fuji hide away in the rainy clouds.:-) I was happy that Arianna and Steele bought the Koshu silk at the Nemba Village. The gentleman, CEO of that company, explained quite in details about his family business carrying on the tradition for more than 300 years, which was quite interesting to listen to. Plum sake is called Ume-shu, so you can go to the 7-11 next block and ask for a cup Umeshu if you would like to.:-) I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay. It was really a fun day for me, too!! Hope to see you in the future again!!

“ Awesome!! Excellent! ”

When I heard that an American friend came to Japan for sightseeing, I hurriedly asked Yoko for a guide. So, I can't speak(and write) English well despite studying abroad. Yoko was a polite woman who responded very quickly. Really early! I have never seen a person who responds as politely and quickly as the same Japanese as her. Yoko did a very good job that day. She explained to my friends who came to Japan for the first time one by one in fluent English about Tokyo. Both my friend and I were able to spend a wonderful day thanks to her. Thank you Yoko-san! If there is a scene that requires an interpreter, I will definitely book Yoko. Because she always produces satisfactory results. アメリカ人の友人が急遽日本に観光に来ると聞いて私は慌ててYokoさんを予約しました。そう、上の文章をご覧いただければ察していただけるかと思いますが、私は何年も英語を使っておらずこのままでは充分に友... read more

Yoko:

Thank you so much for such an excellent review, Riko-san!! I was glad to have the opportunity to help your reunion with your roommate Danielle after you left the US seven years ago. Both of you were so kind and polite that I was really a great pleasure for me to show you around Ginza and have Yakiniku dinner with you. Your friendship was so heartwarming and moving. I would be happy to meet both of you again. I appreciate your generosity so much, too. See you soon!! また次回会えるのを楽しみにしてます。

“ Nikko Experience ”

Yoko emailed us prior to our tour and tailored the tour to our preferrnces. We had a fantastic day with Yoko. She has a lot of experience and knowledge and managed to get us to places ahead of crowds which meant we were able to fully enjoy the experience. Lovely lady who made our day very enjoyable and memorable. Thank you Yoko.

Yoko:

I appreciate your wonderful review so much, Judy!! It was a really beautiful day and I was so lucky to enjoy Nikko with such a lovely couple like you Judy and Clayton. Somehow we could manage to get ahead of the bus crowd. I hope Clayton could get good pictures with his amazing camera. I hope both of you will enjoy the rest of your journey and come back to see the beautiful Sakura soon. Please take care. Thank you for everything again.

“ Yoko was very knowledgeable and very easy to understand. ”

Yoko took us on a tour of the Imperial Palace today at very short notice which we were very grateful for. Yoko’s english is excellent. As well as explaining details of the palace she pointed out other buildings and things around the area which was great.

Yoko:

Thank you so much for writing so soon. It was great pleasure for me meeting you and talking about a lot of things of Australia and Japan. The Sakura near Mount Fuji is really beautiful in mid April and also the late blooming Sakura in Tokyo will be beautiful then. Definitely please come to see the beautiful Sakura. I will be looking forward to meeting you and your lovely wife then.

“ Simply an amazingly kind and efficient guide! ”

Yoko-san went above and beyond any expectations since the moment I contacted her to book our day tour with her months ago. She provided advice on hotels, suburbs, best advice on ways to get from the airport, and to other places that we would do on our own, inquiries about where to find Dragon Ball Z figures and a cat cafe that allowed kids. Our day yesterday with her visiting the Imperial Palace Gardens, strolling Ginza streets, Ginza Six, Nissan showrooms, Nezu-jinja and Yanaka, and finally Akihabara to get the DBZ figures was blessed with a beautiful sunny but quite a warm day. She asked us to leave 10minutes earlier than our scheduled meeting time and surprised us by making us watch an official carriage procession of dignitaries coming to meet the Emperor. She also took it upon herse... read more

Yoko:

I appreciate your sweet review so much. I feel blessed having the opportunity to meet such a sweet and amazing person like you, Suzi-san and your handsome son, Michael, who used to play "proper" soccer.:-) We really walked a lot but that gave me more time to have fun talking with you. I hope you have a wonderful time during the rest of your Journey and hope to see you soon. またあう日をたのしみにしてます^_^ Thank you again for everything!!
