What to Expect

Michelin Green Guide highly recommends 2 temples in Kamakura, Tokeiji Temple and Houkokuji Temple.

Tokeiji Temple is famous for 2 points. Firstly this temple had been known as "Divorce Temple" because they obtained the right to divorce for women from the Shogun in feudal ages. In those days women couldn't initiate a divorce, but this temple was the only sanctuary where women asked for help. Secondly this temple was the base of disseminating Zen to the world. The Abbot Shaku Soen & Dr.D T Suzuki , both were superbly bilingual, worked hard together to build a foundation for the development of Zen culture throughout the world.

Houkokuji Temple, also known as the Bamboo Temple has everything to represent Japanese culture. In this temple there are The Bamboo Garden made of 2000 bamboos, Rock garden, seasonal flowers, the Tea house and a historical Samurai cemetery. In the tea house we can have a cup of matcha tea.

This tour is only 3-hour long, but long enough to know much about Zen and Japanese culture. After the tour, just in case you want to walk around by yourself, I am happy to give you necessary information .

Hello my friends

Somebody said, "Kamakura is like Rome, because people live modern life in ruins like people in Rome." Yes, it is true. Kamakura was a political capital 800 years ago. Even now there are around 100 temples and shrines. I am proud of living here for 50 years. That's why I can introduce you a "backstreet routes" as well as major attractions. While working as a licensed English guide, I also work as a city-certified tour guide for Japanese people.

My husband & I love traveling around the world. We have been backpacking over 10 years. Visiting foreign countries give us wonderful experience and unforgettable memory.

I have met a lot of wonderful local guides, who had helped us with sightseeing, local food, learning history and their customs. I wish I could help you enjoy Japan as I enjoyed with those local guides. As a professional guide, I want to create an unforgettable memory for all guests

Come and enjoy Kamakura together. I am happy to help you make a wonderful memory.
