In this tour you will visit major Yokohama's hi-lighted places. After arriving at the starting point, mainly we will walk because most of places are not far from each other. You will see not only contemporary buildings but also historical buildings. You will enjoy harbor view with nice breeze. And you can feel Japanese atmosphere , Chinese culture and old Western circumstances.

What to Expect

In this tour, you will touch upon uniqueness of Yokohama in terms of history and view. I will take you to Yokohama's major sightseeing spots which includes harbor, pier, historical buildings ,museums and etc. Through this tour, you can feel breeze of Yokohama's enchantment. This tour is yours and I will customize based upon your request. Please find followings a list of sightseeing spots. But if you visit all of them, one day is not enough. My recommendation is 4 places; Minato-Mirai area, Yamashita park, China town and Yamate, Motomachi area.

Hi-light of this tour

1. Yokohama station area
The busiest station in Kanagawa Pref. We can start our tour from this station. Seeing how people moves may surprise you.
Hara railway model museum locates walk-in distance from the station. Also, Nissan HQ Gallery is connected with a Department store in Yokohama.

2. Minato-Mirai area
This area is newly developed one and a lot of offices and shopping malls locate. But there are Yokohama art museum, Mitsubishi Minatomirai Industrial museum
and the tallest building in Yokohama called Landmark tower. In front of Landmark tower, Yokohama port museum and Sail training ship NIppon-maru are.

3. Aka-Renga ( Old storage warehouse) area
This area was renovated from bonded warehouse to shopping and restaurant building. A lot of events are taken place from time to time. If you are lucky, you can
enjoy unexpected activity.

4. Big pier area
There is one of the biggest in Japan cruise ship terminal pier. Top of this pier is covered by lawn and in sunny day, you can enjoy nice view of cruise ship and
nice view of port of Yokohama

5. Yamashita park/ Hikawa-maru
This park locates along with Yokohama-bay. it about half mile long. In spring and autumn, rose season, city of Yokohama conducts rose contest and everybody
can enjoy it. In other seasons, always flowers welcome visitors. This is the place people can relax and feel Yokohama as a harbor town.
Hikawa-maru locates at south-end of Yamashita-park. It is a ship and used to traveled between Japan and US. Now it is opened as a museum relating to ships.

6. Kannai area
In this area, there are many historical buildings and museums. Most of the buildings are still in use. Customers can touch feeling of old Yokohama and learn
at museums.

7. China town
This section is always crowded by visitors. There are many Chinese restaurants and souvenir shops. Recently a famous Sushi restaurant was opened.
You can enjoy mainly Chinese cuisine. Price is various; from $8 to $100/ person.

8. Yamate and Motomachi area
At Yamate area, there are many old residential houses. Customer may feel as if he was in small town of United state back to 19th century.
Motomachi is a fashionable shopping area which also has 19th century atmosphere. It is not a big shopping mall and small size stores are along a street .
Also, St. Patrick's day parade and halloween parade is take place every year.

“ Outstanding experience, more then we expected ”

Hiroshi was our guide for several days in Tokyo and Kamakura. His guidance and companionship exceeded all our expectations. In addition to a deep knowledge of Japan, he also has an excellent English, which made communication enjoyable. While learning history of Japan, customs and traditions, we also laughed comparing our western tradition with Japanese, and greatly enjoyed his company. He took us to eat to an excellent Japanese restaurants and showed different kinds of local food. After we left Tokyo to continue our itinerary to other cities, he kept checking on how we are doing and texted which trains we should take, places we should visit, etc. We highly recommend Hiroshi to anyone who wants a fun, educational and stress-free experience!

Dear Lana Thank you very much for your great comment. While you are in Japan, no matter where you aree, you are my guest. It means it is my role to make sure you travel smoothly. As long as you have plesure, I am very happy. Please enjoy rest of days in Japan and if there is anything I can do to make your tour more enjoyable one, please do not hesitate to contact me.

“ First time visit to Tokyo ”

Hiro is an excellent tour guide and we had a fabulous day taking in the history and culture of Japan. Hiro was very informative and he has a great sense of humour. His English is excellent. Hiro collected us from our hotel and navigated the complex subway system easily. We visited the Edo Museum, Imperial Palace East Garden and the Meiji Shrine. After a great day Hiro accompanied us back to the train station.

Dear Judy and Peter It was my great pleasure to be your guide. And thank you very much for your great evaluation. I am glad to know you understood Japanese culture and history. You are great couple like camphor trees in Meiji Shrine. I think you are now on the way to Narita airport and wish you to have great and enjoyable days in London. I hope I can see you again. Hiro

“ Day trip from Yokohama ”

If you are looking for an alternative to a cruise ship tour, do not hesitate to hire Hiroshi. He is an excellent guide! We thoroughly enjoyed our trip from Yokohama to Tokyo. Hiroshi handled every detail for us and he provided insights and engaging conversation throughout the day. I learned so much from Hiroshi and really appreciated his careful planning and attention to detail. If you want to explore independently but are unsure of how to use public transportation, hire Hiroshi :)

Dear Suzanne Thank you very much for your review of my tour. As you enjoyed, I enjoyed a lot with you. As a guide, knowing the public transportation is a basic but an important element. I am sure you spent excellent time in your cruise. If you have chance to visit Japan again, I wish to be your guide again. Best regards Hiroshi

“ First visit to Tokyo ”

We were a group of four and we all thoroughly enjoyed our day with Hiroshi, visiting the Meiji Shrine, the temple in Azakusa and the Edo Museum. Hiroshi was so knowledgeable and this made our day so much more interesting. The weather was rather wet and he suggested visiting the Edo Museum to learn more about the Edo era, rather than an outside visit. This was an excellent way to learn about this period of time and we all felt that we had learnt so much about Japanese culture and the development of Tokyo. Hiroshi was so helpful prior to our visit , with lots of information about places we are to visit and this has made our holiday in Japan so enjoyable. Would recommend Hiroshi to anyone looking for an interesting visit to major sites in Tokyo. Thank you from us all.
