What to Expect
At Hokoku-ji temple (this tmple is so famous for its bamboo garden that it is called "Bamboo Templ in Kamakura"
a) You can take a walk in the bamboo garden with about 2,000 bamboo trees.
b) You can enjoy drinking powdered green tea with Japanese confectioneries (extra 500 yen) while viewing beautiful bamboo trees.
c) You can listen to a famous romantic story of Japanese folk tale titled Kaguyahime or "Bamboo Princess"
At Sugimoto-dera temple ( it is the oldest temple in Kamakura and it is also famous for its beautiful moss-covered stone steps)
a) You can see the pair of statues "Ni-o" or the "Deva kings " with fierce looks standing on either side of the temple gate, which are said to have been made by Unkei, a famous sculptor in the 13th century.
b) You can see moss-covered stone steps. For Japanese people, moss is a miracle plant that gives us "healing" or "nostalgia"
c) As in museum, You can appreciate Buddhist images directly up close in the main hall.
