Just 1 hour train ride from Tokyo, you will touch an essence of Japanese beauty, serene temples, picturesque gardens, impressive statue of Great Buddha. Kamakura is a place where the first Samurai regime was born in Japan in the 12th century. Due to its long history, Kamakura still remains a number of traditional structures and historic interest. You can see different aspects of Japan from what you see in Tokyo. If you like history and traditional things, I highly recommend this tour.
On this tour, we will visit Hokokuji Temple which has a beautiful bamboo grove. If you would like, you can try Matcha tea, or thick green tea used in the tea ceremony in the bamboo grove. And then we will explore a lovely shopping street called Komachi-dori and have lunch there. After lunch, we will visit Kotoku-in Temple which is famous for the gigantic stature of Great Buddha. Our last visit is an attractive flower temple, Hasedera Temple. You can see another statue of 11 headed Kannon Bodhisattva there.

We enjoyed immensely our tour of Tokyo with Riko designed to keep our 2 teen age boys interested.
We (my adult son and I) had a great day tour with Riko. She worked hard to put together an itinerary that matched our interests. We covered a lot of ground in Tokyo, from cherry blossoms to samurai to Izakaya to Manga. Riko was informed, kind, and fun. We learned a lot from Riko, from Shinto shrine customs and mores to the competitive nature of Japanese moms making bento box lunches for their school children to navigating the subway. It was a fun, informative tour. We were well prepared to spend the rest of the week exploring Tokyo on our own.
We had a wonderful time with Riko. She is an awesome guide and spoke excellent English. Our day was busy and we saw many great sights. We happen to be at the temple when they were having a celebration with geisha performers present and at the shrine--they had a children's kabuki show! We were even lucky enough to see 1 cherry blossom tree with a few blooms :) One of the highlights was going to Tsukiji market and tasting/buying the different foods--one of the few places in Tokyo where it's okay to eat while you're walking. Riko was very patient with helping us to navigate the busy subways--she made sure we were able to keep up with her and also gave us ideas on what to do on our own the following day. I would highly recommend her tours and will definitely try to book her again if we're in Tokyo in the future.
Last week we took a wonderful all-day excursion with Riko to Kamakura. Riko promptly met us at our hotel and led us to our train to Kamakura. During the train ride, she provided us information on the area and a historical background. She discussed what we would be visiting. Riko was a wealth of information and very professional. I am grateful for her services as I realized that we wouldn't be able to maneuver the local buses and trains so efficiently. I am especially grateful on how considerate she was and paced to tour to our capabilities. I would highly recommend Riko as a top notch guide.
Riko was amazing and very knowledgeable.
