Overview

I've been a guide of Kamakura for a long time, having noticed that the nature adds an extra tastes to the peaceful atomosphere of temples and shrines in Kamakura. Plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, azalea, hydrangea, roses, crape myrtles, colored leaves, moss, etc and Mt. Fuji! Let me choose some best spots by the time of the year!! Green tea and 'Masamune' swordsmith is included in this tour too.

What to Expect

Just visiting temples and shrines on the guide book is not the best way to enjoying Japan. You may think that the trip wiht an experienced local guide can add something more to your trip and make it a fully enjoyable one. Please allow me to show you the best spots at the best time of the year!! Of course I won't miss the most popular must see spots such as ; The Great Buddha, the Bamboo temple and the Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine. Plus, I put two places where you can enjoy the genuin Japanese culture; a Tea Master's house and a work place of 'Masamune' swordsmith!! Let's enjoy Kamakura together!!

“ Lovely, thoughtful, knowledgeable tour leader ”

Eiko was organised, extremely amicable and flexible in our itinerary. We probably took on too much being our first day after long flight with a 12 year old but she was very understanding. Discovered places we would never see & moved swiftly around towns. Eiko was full of information & would be great to have for multiple days around Tokyo. We did take her away from her family on Mother’s Day, so thank you Eiko, we had a great day.

Eiko:

Hi Mandy! Thank you very much for taking your important time to write a review while you are in Kyoto. I believe that you are having a great time there too. :-) Your review is so very nice. Thank you!! I really enjoyed the tour with all of you, maybe because we were all the girls. :-) We enjoyed eating Japanese food and shopping + chatting. I know you were a little tired but we visited almost all the places on the itinerary of the day! I hope you can come back to Japan in the near future. Again, thank you very much for having me as your Tokyo guide!! Take care! Eiko

“ Kamakura Tour ”

We had the pleasure of having Eiko as our guide on an all day tour of Kamakura. She came to Tokyo and met us right on time at our hotel lobby. She took us on the train to Kamakura and had a binder with relevant information for our tour neatly organized in a binder which she reviewed on the train ride. This was our last day in Japan and we had many guides during our trip, but Eiko was by far the best. She took us to the shrines and temples of most interest to us and discussed the customs and history of each. Especially fun was the trip to the tea master for the formal tea ceremony. Just excellent. She made reservations for lunch at a beautiful restaurant. Her English was excellent and she was easy to understand. I recommend Eiko very highly and would definitely use her again if we re... read more

Eiko:

Hi Cindy! Thank you very much for such a wonderful review!! It made me so happy that I felt like giving everybody hugs and kisses.:-) I'm glad that you liked the places I chose especially the lunch place and the tea celemony at the tea master's house! Lunch was delicious. Thank you!:-) And Maccha was delicious too. Looking at her making tea beautifully in front of us on the tatami room was really a special moment!! And we also visited many temples and a shrine with a beautiful Japanese style garden. Among them was a temple whose white wisteria was full in bloom on your visit. It was the place I added to the itinerary just for you! I hope you liked it! :-) Again, thank you very much for having me as your Kamakura guide and I'm looking forward to seeing you and Steve again in Japan in t... read more

“ More than a Guide ”

Our couple of days in Kamakura & Hakone with Eiko were wonderful! Eiko was so welcoming, warm and helpful. She exceeded our expectations, plus her local contacts and knowledge made our experience unique. We can’t recommend Eiko highly enough. Loved Japan and Eiko

Eiko is an excellent guide for this tour to Kamakura. She has excellent knowledge of all the places we visited and was a great help finding our way back to Tokyo.

“ Took us to a place we would not have gone otherwise ”

We originally booked Eiko for 3 days but she unfortunately got sick and wasn’t able to join us at first. However, she made sure TripleLights found us another guide, which was a huge relief. Eiko then took us to Kamakura under less than ideal circumstances — it was cold and rainy. But she was cheerful and upbeat the entire time, and my wife said it was the most enjoyable part of our visit to Japan. (It felt more authentically Japanese than Tokyo.) Eiko brought small gifts for my kids, which was hugely appreciated, and because of the forecast she arranged two activities — a calligraphy class and a tea ceremony — to keep us out of the rain. I very much wanted to see this swordsmith, and she called ahead to make sure the gentleman didn’t leave his workshop before we got there. When we couldn’... read more

Eiko:

Hi Albert!! Thank you very much for such a wonderful review! It really is!! Yes. I really wanted to show you around Tokyo too but I got flue...sorry about it. But TripleLights' support was very quick and helpful. I was relieved too. When we could finally meet was a day before you left for Taiwan, your next destination. I was so glad to meet all of you. :-) But the weather in Kamakura was very cold and rainning so hard that I needed to change the itinerary. I was not very sure if you liked the places I took you, but now I am so much happy to know that you enjoyed what we did together in Kamakura!! Again, thank you for having me as your Japan guide, and I'm sincerely hoping to see all of you again in the near future!! Thank you Albert!! Eiko
