Overview

Kamakura used to the capital of Japan in 12th to 14th century. It was the first period governed by the samurai warriors; Shoguns.
Since they practiced Zen Buddhism, there are many Zen Temples older than those in Kyoto. This tour is for those who are interested in not only the sightseeing and shopping but also in its historical background.

What to Expect

There are too many places to visit in Kamakura on a day. I will take you only those places I like. Those temples in Kamakura are as impressive as those in Kyoto and express more genuine Japanese religious atmosphere. It is also very important for me to enjoy Japanese lunch with you, I will take you to nice restaurants in Kamakura. You will take the most of your time in Kamakura by taking this tour.

I've got the license of tour guide in English in 2013. Since then I attended a volunteer group which is providing a tour in the Imperial Palace East Gardens that used to be Edo castle. I guided more than fifty times in the garden as a volunteer and have deep knowledge of Japanese history and culture.
I was born and grew up in Yokohama and I visited many places with my family. I used to work in Tokyo for more than 20 years. I have more than 20 tours to Hakone and Lake Kawaguchi and have been improving my tour. Therefore, I am sure that I can provide you the most impressive tour around Tokyo. It will be my great pleasure to help you to enjoy your stay in Japan. See you in my tours!! read more

“ Amazing Japan! ”

On behalf of my team of 4 from Penang Malaysia, we thank Yuki for his excellent tour guide to Hakone to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the beautiful Mount Fuji. It was indeed spectacular to view the mountain scenery from the cruise in Lake Ashi. Nevertheless, although the cable ropeway was closed due to climatic reason, we had a great lunch and bus ride down to the hot spring public bath at Yumoto Fujiya Hotel. Thanks to Yuki and will definitely come back to visit amazing Japan!

“ Yokohama for a day ”

I am most happy to have mr Yuki join us in our Yokohama as our guide. He was most polite, patient, that’s why we hd an easy going tour around Yokohama. Kids were delighted to get rides and he was patient to deal with their request. Our Cup Noodle Museum was the highlight of our tour. Kids had fun in their Ramen Activity. Many thanks again mr Yuki.

“ Knowledgeable, courteous and flexible ”

Best guide we ever had in our travels of many countries! Very organized and fluent in English, he planned our day with clear detailed communication and provided what he promised and more. He thought of every details and was like a family with us. Can’t thank him enough!

“ Thank you Yuki !! ”

Our most excellent guide Yuki was with us on two days. Taking us to points of interest not covered by our regular tour company. One of our tours was a larger than normal group (14) on a 7 hour Tokyo Samurai and Ameyoko tour. The other centered around a trip to the Owl cafe, which was fantastic in that we were allowed to visit 12 species of owls who were well cared for, up close and personal. Yuki's English was very fluent and he guided us trough various trains to destinations with ease and care. To make the most of our limited time, he purchased our tickets in advance. We benefited from his extensive knowledge, his sense if anticipation and fine amiability.. We would look forward to having Yuki as a guide again when we come extraordinary Japan another time. Yes. we would recommend him to others without reservation. Note: The Samurai Museum was fun and informative but would have loved more details about their lives. Wonderful Samurai armor collection with narratives though out the museum with a docent. Ameyoko had plenty of choices for street food and dinner. The large oysters at a fish stand were ultra fresh, pleasantly briny and delicious. Very reasonable at 5 for 1000 jpy. My husband who does not do fish had a satisfying and tasty noodle bowl for just a few jpys. Eating on the cheap is doable and delicious in Japan.

“ A private tour that surpassed expectations ”

I cannot even begin how excellent Yuki was as my tour expert in Tokyo for three days. Coming to Japan as a first-timer, I was nervous about navigating the Tokyo's public transportation systems and taking in a culture I have never personally been immersed in. Through going around Tokyo with Yuki, I was not only able to overcome the initial anxiety, but also gain a new perspective on Japan that I would otherwise have missed out on had I went alone. Yuki was an excellent communicator, took into account my interests in improving my proposed itinerary and made sure that every spot we visited was supplemented with interesting information and historical background. Yuki made sure that I was not only enjoying the stops as a tourist experience, but also see each attraction through the lens of society and culture. It is also worth mentioning that Yuki went above and beyond for me to make sure that I got back to my hotel safely, took correct public transportation and have my souvenirs mailed to the USA via EMS. Yuki's outstanding dedication to ensure that I have a seamless travel experience is something I have never seen anywhere else. I am beyond grateful for his concern and compassion. I came to love Tokyo a lot more than what I was expecting, and Yuki made sure that you walked away from the tour realizing how great Japan and its people are. If you are looking to visiting Japan, you can never go wrong with Yuki.

“ Kamakura from Yokoham ”

Yuki was very informative, his English was good, smooth public transportation . He was little too fast walking for us, hard time keeping up with him. He tried to accommodate us with what we want. He is just a fast walker.

“ Organized and Knowledgeable Guide ”

We toured the Tokyo, Hakone and Kamakura areas with Yuki. Yuki was a very organized guide with wide knowledge of the Temples, Shrines and other important Tourist spots that we visited. He plans the days well and considers the preferences of the customer. I will not hesitate to recommend his services to my friends.

“ Great Trip With Yuki-san ”

Thank you Yuki-san for being so patient with us (all nine of us) during our tours. Yuki-san was so helpful, especially helping us to purchase the tickets for the bullet train. His service was very good and even though our tours only lasted 3 days, we were very happy with Yuki-san and we have had the most enjoyable trips with him. Arigato-gosaimas-da!

“ Excellent, friendly guide ”

Yuki was fantastic! He picked us from the hotel lobby and gave a lesson on the Tokyo Subway system before we began our tour. He showed us how to buy the Pasmo Card and use the subway. We had a great day and saw the Tokyo tower, Zojyoji temple and visited Asakusa. Tsukiji fish market was closed on our booked day so we had pre-arranged to visit Akihabara where the tour ended. Yuki was great at providing direction on which subway lines we could take to get us back to our hotel. Yuki, thanks for the great day!

“ Great Experience ”

We were a little bit hesitant to book this one day Kyoto from Tokyo tour because of the distance (Our hotel was in Narita which was an hour or so away from Tokyo)...But Yuki was able to make this happen for us...Exploring Kyoto was an awesome experience...Considering how busy/crazy train/subway/bus system here in Japan, having someone as Yuki to guide us through to the destinations that were must-see's was really wonderful. I recomnded this tour for those who would like to see Kyoto with very little experience of public transpotation in Japan.

“ Kamakura guide ”

Our trip to Tokyo was a rainy one. Instead of going to Hakone with Yuki, he advised us to cancel it because of rain, thus we pushed thru to Kamakura. Yuki was a very nice guide. He showed us the interesting things in Kamakura, and he can also really walk too! He was there to guide us in taking the trains to reach our points of interests. We would have wanted a more informative guide, as Yuki was not as informative in the history of Kamakura as we would've liked. Although the gallery told of the history of the Kanon, it is still diffetent coming from your guide and also the shogun era of Japan. Overall, it was an okay experience to Kamakura. Getting a guide reaaly relieves you of the stress in the possibility of getting lost in Japan.

Yuki did a very good job of guiding us around Tokyo. He lent us some Metro cards so we could just recharge them rather than buying new ones which was nice.

“ Hakone Tour ”

Yuki was our guide for Hakone (departing from Tokyo by Shinkansan). About half way through the tour we had stormy weather that resulted in the "ropeway" being cancelled. Thank goodness Yuki was there to figure out how to continue on our journey to Lake Ashi by local bus. This would have been very tricky without a knowledgeable guide. We stayed overnight in Hakone while Yuki headed back to the Tokyo area. He made sure that we had instructions on how to proceed to Kyoto on our own the next morning. I would recommend Yuki for his excellent English and his efficient manner.

“ Great Tour Guide ”

Yuki understood what was important to us. Very knowledgeable, soft spoken and kind. A wonderful example of the quality of your employees. I'm coming back to Japan next year and if possible I would like to have him as a tour guide again. I have been asked by some of the passengers on the Diamond Princess about our tour. I highly recommend your company.

“ Day tour and intro to Tokyo ”

Yuki-san gave us a great introduction to Tokyo on day 1 of our trip. He not only helped us see several Tokyo highlights in a day, but also gave us enough of an orientation to the city so that we are were able to comfortably navigate Tokyo by ourselves after that. His suggestions on getting a Pasmo card to navigate the subway system, and the extra photographs and info he had handy on his tablet were also greatly appreciated. We particularly enjoyed all the historical and cultural insights he was able to provide. Thanks, Yuki-san!

“ Day visit at Kamakura ”

Yuki is a pleasant and experienced guide to tour with. He offered bits of interesting historical events for each different location and will not hesitate to answer your questions. Moreover, the presentation was neat and commendable. He offered to fetch us at our apartment (not to mention that he was early!) and even took the extra mile to include additional tour location when the tour ended early. If you are looking for a light-hearted tour, i would recommend Yuki.

“ Two Days in Tokyo ”

We had two tours with Yuki, one in Tokyo centre and one in Yokohama. On both occasions Yuki met us on time and with a big smile. We had exchanged e-mails prior to the tour so Yuki knew the sights we wanted to see. He then arranged the days so we saw everything we wanted. We went on the underground and the bus system and had two excellent lunches in traditional restaurants. Yuki was very knowledgeable and explained about the history associated with the sights. I would have no hesitation in recommending Yuki as a guide when you visit Japan.

“ Excellent tour ”

Mr. Yuki met us very punctually. He was very informative and kept a brisk pace, allowing us to a number of sites during the day. He handled purchasing the tickets we needed to navigate about Tokyo. The restaurant he suggested for lunch was elegant, quite and out of the way (a nice break from the heat and crowds outside). I was able to have some interesting chats related to his profession, as he was a nuclear physicist. We were fortunate to have Mr. Yuki as our guide!

“ Wonderful trip to Kamakura with Yuki ”

We enjoyed a fantastic day tour from Tokyo to Kamakura with Yuki. He was professional but warm and friendly. He is also very high energy. His English and knowledge of various cultures/religions is excellent. In addition to his clear verbal explanations, he carries an iPad pre-loaded with photos, diagrams and other reference info to quickly assist his guests in their understanding of the various points of interest. We felt that was quite helpful. We had a few email exchanges before we arrived in Tokyo so he could plan our tour for what we wanted to see most. Much of it was left to his discretion since he is the expert. For example, he arranged the timing to take the large Sunday crowds into consideration. We either walked or took the subway. The tour was well-planned for the most efficient use of time. We saw all of the major hightlights including the large Buddha and many shrines, gardens, and temples. We also meandered through a few little shops along the way when it started to rain. (The rain was no problem at all.) Lunch was in a small noodle shop- just perfect! Later, we toured a new, ultra-modern shopping center near Tokyo Station. Very interesting! Thank you, Yuki-san for our wonderful day. When we come back to Japan, we will be sure to find you again. Cheers!

“ Great Day - Great Guide ”

I wanted to see Mt Fuji, the ice caves and walk through the woods. Prior before the tour, Yuki made us aware that the weather might be very bad and if I want I can change the date for the tour. As I could not change the date, I confirmed that I still want to do the planned tour. Unfortunately the weather was so bad, that we were not able to go up Mt Fuji. Yuki made us aware during our train ride. He was so pro active and creating an instand change in the tour that we got the most out of the day. We saw the caves, a little original village, great original food, and a fantastic walk through the forrest. He was very knowledgeable and it was fun to be with him. I would recommend him as a tour guide and book him anytime again. Thank you Yuki for a great day

He is smart and patient. He was super helpful especially when we needed to retrieve our bags left at the Shinkansen train. He is honest. What should I expect on our trip was been discussed in our emails. Specifically, the value of our Hakone trip with Yuki-san is cheaper than other tourist guide.

“ Recommendation for Yuki ”

Yuki met us in Tokyo and traveled with us to Hakone. While Sunday is an extremely busy day for Hakone Yuki strategically found a way to avoid standing in lines by timing where we went at optimum times. He was informative answering our questions about Japanese culture and society. We returned rather late in the day and Yuki was extremely generous with his time spending around 10 hours with us. He even offered to take us back to our hotel on the train, although we told him it was not necessary. We highly recommend Yuki as a competent and informative guide.

“ A great and educational experience ”

Yuki was our guide for two full days, and during these two days we learned a lot about the history of Japan, which was most interesting to us. We visited the fish market, palace gardens and a few museums. Had a great lunch at the fish market and learned how to navigate the subway, which was far easier than we than we thought. Whatever question we had was answered often through a presentation in a website giving a great overview. Thank you Yuki, Ana & Flemming

“ Cherry blossoms and ladies in Kimono ”

We really enjoyed our walking tour with Yuki. He was very helpful and informative. We enjoyed lunch in a local restaurant which offered the area's local delicacies. The restaurant was very pleasant and it gave us a chance to learn more about Japanese culture from Yuki. One of the highlights along with the temples and shrines was the ladies dressed in kimono and standing by the cherry blossoms in Kamakura.

We had an excellent trip of Tokyo City tour and Mount Fuji with Mr.Yuki. Mr.Yuki took us to a lot of viewing spots near Lake Kawaguchi. “ One amazing Tokyo day with Yuki ”

We spend one day with Yuki visiting Tokyo station, entrance Imperial palace, Imperial East Garden, Senso-Ji tempel and Skytree. We had an amazing time including an amazing lunch. Yuki has a great knowledge of history and events that formed Tokyo. He explained us the JR train system so we could smoothly travel later to Takayama and also the metro system. He uses his ipad to support his explanation. He is very helpful, very friendly and speaks very good English. Our two daugters expected Yuki again the next day, they missed him already. We will visite Tokyo again and hopefully Yuki has time to join us then!

“ Day trip to Kyoto ”

Yuki was an excellent guide. He met me at the Tokyo Station, and we headed out on a day trip to Kyoto. Yuki was very organized from the beginning of our tour to the end. He had meticulously planned our itinerary as to fit the most sites in to our short time in Kyoto. Communication prior to the tour was great. Yuki was also a great conversationalist, and he was obviously well versed in Japanese history. I enjoyed talking with him over the course of the tour. We had a busy day, but I greatly appreciate him taking me to Kyoto. Thanks Yuki!

“ Varied Tokyo ”

We spent 5 days with Yuki and from the beginning, he was fantastic. He helped us to navigate the underground system, quickly and efficiently. We went to a variety of places, where he gave detailed explainations, sometimes using his iPad to show us different facts about where we were. We have seen some very modern parts of Tokyo whilst also enjoying more historical aspects too. Yuki has a great knowledge of history and events that shaped modern day Tokyo. He was flexible, helpful and very friendly, whilst helping us to follow Japanese protocol in different situations. We ate in some fabulous restaurants including having the most amazing sushi. We cannot recommend him highly enough for the time and effort he put in to making our stay so wonderful. Nothing was too much effort. We were sad to say goodbye.

“ Yuki was Great! ”

Yuki did an excellent job of pre-trip planning, giving us many details and providing options. With our input he tailored the tour to concentrate on the things for which we had the most interest. Yuki did a very good job of letting us know what expenses to expect (admission fees, train ticket costs, etc.) and was able to optimize each trip to take advantage of passes which allow admission to several venues. Yuki made sure the pace was good (we prefer a fast pace), and he tailored the pace to be best for us.

“ Very Educational Session with Mr. Yuki ”

We were very pleased that it was Mr. Yuki that we chose to guide us around the Imperial Palace Grounds - he imparted to us his knowledge, and it was very edifying for us to know so much about Japanese history and Mr Yuki had the knack to mix the old with the new - in terms of how he related things about Japan to us. We are very grateful to Mr. Yuki. The final touch we Mr. Yuki sent us the photos he had taken - and this to us is very very memorable.

“ Day trip to Harkone ”

We did a day trip to Harkone with Yuki. The day was excellent and we go to do lots of different things. We added an extra couple a few days before the trip. The only thing was the itinerary that Yuki gave me was not the one we did on the day. My partner and I really wanted to do a tea ceremony and i explained several times that this was the highest priority. On the train to Harkone Yuki explained all the different things we can do and i reminded him this was the most important. By mid afternoon i asked about the tea ceremony and where we were doing it and he told me it was too late and we were going to miss out. The first half of the day was great but after that we seemed to be running late for everything and rushed through. When we got to the area with the black eggs we had literally 5 mins to look around and then jump on a bus. I feel like the day should have been better planned out and Yuki should have explained if we do one thing we can't do another. He also changed the start time of the day the night before.

“ 3 Days with Yuki ”

We spent 3 days with Yuki in Tokyo. We were lucky to see Mt. Fuji from Lake Kawaguchi when the clouds lifted. What a spectacular sight! We visited the East Garden of the Imperial Palace, and Yuki was very informative about Japanese history as we walked the area. We also visited the Samurai Museum, Meiji Shrine, and Sengakuji Temple. The Tsukiji sushi lunch was the best! During the planning process for these 3 days, Yuki was very helpful, flexible, and accommodating. He responded to my questions promptly and even went out of his way to find a specialty nori for us. Thank you, Yuki, for showing us Tokyo and Lake Kawaguchi.

Yuki was meticulously prepared for our day trip to Hakone with our 1 year-old daughter. “ Friendly and helpful guide ”

Yuki was very helpful in guiding us to visit Hakone to see Mount Fuji. Although the weather conditions prevented us from going on the monorail or boat, he had a backup plan which still allowed us to see a great view of Fuji from the Japanese Painting Museum. He went out of his way to reserve a restaurant for us for dinner and made it easy to find our way around and book transportation for the the trip. I would definitely recommend booking with Yuki if you would like someone who is friendly, well-mannered and considerate of your needs.

Learning what we wanted to do and see, Yuki was very accommodating and even suggested other things we could do whilst in Tokyo, getting the details for us. Without these tips we could have missed more! Thank you Yuki, I'll look you up again when I visit Tokyo next time!

“ Great Tour of Tokyo's Highlights ”

Mr. Yuki did a great job customizing a tour for us. A week prior to our trip, we decided on three spots together based on our interests. Mr. Yuki replied to his emails almost immediately, which made this process so much easier. At the last minute, we had to change our meeting location but Mr. Yuki was very understanding. He lent us subway cards for the day which made traveling between sites so much easier. We weren't familiar with Japanese traditions at all. He did a great job explaining Japan's history, customs and traditions. He was very knowledgeable. He patiently answered all of the questions we had about Japan. This was an all day tour and we had a lot of questions! Also, we wanted to have lunch specifically at the Palace Hotel and he was very accommodating about that too. At the end of the tour, I felt that we learned more about Tokyo than we could have ever figured out ourselves by going to the sites with just a travel book. We definitely recommend Mr. Yuki. We only had one day to spend in Tokyo, but he made sure that day was spent productively.

“ Fun in Japan ”

We did two tours with Yuki and he was great for both. Yuki was very patient and accommodating as we shopped - our favorite thing to do. He customized our tours according to our preferences and even took us to places not included on his regular tour. We enjoyed his company so much that by the second day, Yuki felt like part of our family. Thanks, Yuki. Hope you enjoyed the chocolate macadamia nut treats from Hawaii!

“ First Day in Tokyo ”

We hired Yuki to meet us at Haneda Airport and help us navigate the public transit system to our AirBnB. He helped us get settled, purchase public transit cards, and reviewed our itinerary so that we would know how to get around for the remainder of our trip. He also helped us make reservations and picked up tickets for us for later in our trip. He also took us to a few tourist locations. Meeting with Yuki on our first day made us feel comfortable and settled in for the rest of the trip.

“ Tokyo in two days ”

It was invaluable having Yuki to show us around Tokyo for 2 days, his tour covered most of the tourist sights and we learned a lot about history and culture. He was very well prepared, explaining everything to us in great english and had additional info/pictures on his ipad. He was also a pretty speedy walker which was great for us! I will definitely recommend Yuki's tours to anyone. Thanks for the wonderful time Yuki! Hope to see you again soon!

“ Dec. 14 tour of Imperial Palace grounds. ”

Yuki-san knows a great deal of history concerning the Imperial Palace and the area surrounding it. He strives to inform clients of the most interesting aspects of each area within Palace grounds. Also, whenever photos are taken, he will immediately forward them to his clients via e-mail. We had a great experience with him today.

“ Friendly & helpful ”

We had a nice trip to Hakone with Yuki. He made sure we managed to get on all the rides we wanted before sunset. We wouldn't have been able to achieve that on our own as it was winter and the sun sets much earlier. Yuki is a responsible and helpful guide.

“ Great first day in Japan ”

Yuki's tour was a perfect way to start off my first trip to Japan. Becoming familiar with the train system with Yuki saved a ton of time and made the rest of my travels easier. We saw some great sights in Tokyo and had the best sashimi I've tried at Tsukiji market. Yuki's english is excellent and he was very flexible+helpful with deciding on destinations.

“ Excellent Guide - Highly Recommended ”

My family hired Yuki for 3.5 days to see Tokyo and Hakone. We are very sophisticated world travelers and have used many guides over the years. Yuki was perhaps the most warm, flexible, and accomadating guide we have had. He is very knowledgable about Japanese history and the sights. He was superb with my two children, both who became very fond of him. It was a great help having him help us quickly navigate the subways and trains. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Thank you Yuki!

I really like my one-day visit in Yokohama. Mr. Yuki took me to the bay for an amazing cruise trip and the landmark tower to enjoy the fantastic city view of Yokohama. Last but not least, it was Mr. Yuki who brought me to a local sea food restaurant where I had the best sashimi in my life. Thanks Mr. Yuki!

Yuki san was an excellent tour guide. We had to move the time from 10am to 10.30am as we had just arrived from Kyoto. He offered to help get us an ICOCA card for subways(We declined as it was our last day in Japan). He not only explained the history of the places we visited but the customs that are followed and showed us more pictures and videos on his Ipad. His explanations were very informative. He showed my parents to an Indian restaurant and accompanied me and my brother to an excellent ramen restaurant. All in all very accommodating. He also went the extra mile when we wanted to buy a bag for cheap for all our souvenirs, he talked to people and found us a discount shop. And in the end he came along with us till our hotel. It was an excellent tour. Thank you Yuki san for a wonderful day.

Nice man but his knowledge of Tokyo was the best. I have have had many guides in counties over the years that were much more engaging. But I have traveled all over the world.

We had to cut our tour short and Yuki was very flexible and helpful the entire time. We also appreciated his restaurant recommendations!

My colleague and I had just about 24 hours to see as much of Tokyo as we could. Having never been to Asia before, we were a bit unsure of the best way to navigate the city and to see the many sites. Yuki was terrific! He guided us quickly through the subway system and through the crowds. His knowledge of the city, history, and Tokyo "must sees" was tremendous. Yuki tailored his tour to our "wishlist" and made additional recommendations. I would most definitely use Yuki again the next time I visit Tokyo to see the places we missed due to our time constraints. He was the best!

We had a full day tour with Yuki. He took us around Tokyo via Metro. It was lot of walking, a lot of Metro stops. Yuki had to rearrange our itinerary for late take off (due to the size of our group of 15 including 3 toddlers). We visited the Sengakuji Temple, which included the graves of the 47 Ronin. The kids experienced offering some incense at each grave. There were a few souvenir stores in the area. We headed to Tsukiji market for lunch. Yuki made a reservation and pre-ordered. This allowed for a very relaxing lunch despite the size of our group. The food was reasonably priced and the sushi was excellent. We were able to walk around the market and purchase some Tamago and other food stuff and more souvenirs. We headed to the Imperial Palace Gardens and saw the Iris garden, a tea house, the ninja house and the samurai house. Due to the insistence of our young travellers, we rushed to the Sumida River cruise and made it on the last boat. We relaxed on the boat to Asakusa with sights and some on board refreshments. Yuki accompanied us back to our hotel and even helped us book our airport car service. Yuki spoke good english and was very accommodating. He took us to sights we had requested to see (which we picked since we had done the usual city tours and shrines on our previous trips). These private tours are better for smaller groups, so everyone can benefit from the conversation with the guide. I would call Yuki again on our next trip. I would also recommend first timers take a private guide to the more popular sights. They share a lot of insight about Japanese culture and customs.

We booked the tour with Yuki the night before the day we were in Tokyo, so it was very last minute. However, Yuki responded promptly and was very kind to help us. The tour was very nice. He took us to beautiful places, he was very well prepared, talking to us about everything in perfect English and with additional info/pictures on his ipad. He was very helpful to guide us around Tokyo. We were very pleased with this experience! It really makes a difference to walk around with someone that knows the place than do it on your own, and at a very affordable price! We would really recommend him! Thank you for everything Yuki!

Yuki San had good command of English, and his focus on the historical aspects of the tour was exactly what I was looking for - something a little different from lady tour guides who usually preferred the cute/kawaii aspect of Japan.
