Hello everyone,

I am Eriko, a mother of two adult sons, a former backpacker, and a national licensed tour guide with open mind. I was born and grew up in Aichi Prefecture in central Japan, and have lived in Tokyo with my family for almost 30 years.

My childhood dream was to become a flight attendant, an English interpreter, or an expert who can command the English language. Also I like Japanese history. I therefore majored in Japanese history and minored in English-language education, and worked as an English teacher at a high school and a preparatory school. After enjoying parenting and my hobbies in Hong Kong and Tokyo, I worked as a Tokyo Metropolitan volunteer tour guide for two years.

I finally got the certified tour guide license in 2017. Since then, I have taken special guiding training in various places such as TOKYO, NIKKO, HAKONE, KYOTO, NARA and more. Also, I'm very familiar with my hometown areas such as AICHI and GIFU including NAKASENDO ROAD, TAKAYAMA, SHIRAKAWAGO etc. I have delivered around 60 tours in those areas now, and clearly realized this is my favorite and best job blending my childhood dream, interests and pleasure.

There are a lot of things I enjoy such as traveling, meeting with people from the world, photography, appreciating art, doing gardening, learning what I have not known yet. Especially, I like traveling at home and abroad based on the itineraries I make on my own. I have explored more than 20 countries so far, and was always helped by local people when I got troubles. Even though those troubles have turned priceless, from my experiences, having local guides and learning Japan from them would make your travel more colorful and unforgettable.

Now I think this is my turn to assist you so you can explore Japan at your own pace and in a relaxing way. I am flexible about destinations and can arrange the tours according to your preference. I'd like to make your travel to Japan special by sharing my experiences, knowledge, and love of all things Japanese with you.

Let's explore Japan together! I'm here to help you! read more

“ Eriko Nomoto- Review -Tokyo Guide ”

My husband and I enjoyed the time we spent with Eriko. She is very knowledgeable in all the places she took us - the temple, shrine, parks. She even managed to get us to a free Geisha show. Amazing. Wonderful trip. Jim and I are very grateful to have her as a guide.

“ Amazing overview of Tokyo ”

Eriko was very organized, efficient, patient and kind. She picked us up at our hotel, helped us get our Suica cards and navigate the subways, then took us on a whirlwind tour through Tokyo to the sites we had picked ( Meiji shrine, imperial palace gardens, Ueno Park and Sensoji temple ) after 25,000 step she took us back to our hotel. We had a wonderf sushi lunch at the fish market where Eriko showed us the proper way to eat sushi. She also showed us how to wash our hands before entering a shrine and how to pray at the shrine. After the tour she sent us a list of additional places we should go to ( as she knew we would be exploring on our own for the next few days) and how to get there based on my children’s interests (Pokemon Center, video games, the best place to see cherry blossoms and go row boating, museums as well as other cultural sites). Overall worth every penny. It was like having a friend in Tokyo show you around and make sure you were comfortable. THANK YOU ERIKO!!!

“ The highlight was Ueno park which was really very beautiful. ”

Eriko is a friendly person with poor knowledge about Tokyo. We did not get many explanations. In the afternoon she seemed to be already quite tired so she left us shortly after 4 pm. She was very helpfull when we wanted to change money.

“ Friendly and flexible ”

This is our first trip to Japan starting in Tokyo. Eriko showed us the hightlights of Tokyo in 3,5 days. She was well prepared and learned us how to use the metro and train system. Due to the weather conditions we like to change the program and she adapted quickly. We like to thank Eriko for the first wonderful days in Japan.
