What to Expect

Full day Yokohama & Kamakura Sightseeing - 8 hours

The Yokohama Landmark Tower is the second tallest building in Japan, standing 296.3 m (972 ft) high. The building was completed in 1993. On the 69th floor there is an observatory, Sky Garden, from which you can see a 360-degree view of the city, and on clear days Mount Fuji. Observatory Admission Ticket at 1,000 yen per person.

Yokohama Chinatown is Japan's largest Chinatown, situated in central Yokohama.
The Chinatown quickly developed, after the port of Yokohama had been one of the first Japanese ports to be opened to foreign trade in 1859. It became the residence of the many Chinese traders who settled down in the city. Today, a large number of Chinese stores and restaurants exist in the narrow and colorful streets of Chinatown.

Great Buddha Statue in Kamakura is sitting cross-legged, robed with drapes in the classical lines reminiscent of ancient Greece. The bronze statue was cast in 1292, and was housed in a wooden temple, which was washed in a great tsunami in 1495. Great Buddha Statue has classical lines reminiscent of ancient Greece. Since then, the Great Buddha Statute has stood in the open atmosphere.

The Hase Temple, located on a hill in Kamakura with a sweeping view of the sea, is home of the statute of the 11-headed Kannon, Goddess of Mercy, each representing a characteristic of the goddess. The 9.18 meter tall, gilded wooden statue is regarded as one of the largest wooden sculpture in Japan. Hasedera is built along the slope of a wooded hill. A pretty garden with ponds exists at the base of the slope just after entering. Along the way stands the Jizo-do Hall with hundreds of small statues of the Jizo Bodhisattva who helps the souls of dead children to reach the paradise.

I like to show you around two quite different cities in Kanagawa Prefecture; one is a modern city of sea port, Yokohama, and another, capital of Kamakura feudal military government from 1183 to 1333. I make sure you enjoy every minute while I show you around your sightseeing destinations in the two fascinating cities.

“ Very experienced guide! ”

Thank you Akio for guiding me through the highlights of Tokyo! I enjoyed the tour with you a lot. It’s definitely the most relaxing way to get to know Tokyo. Akio knows every subway connection by heart which saves a lot of time. He has a lot to tell about about the backgrounds of the attractions. I can recommend Akio!

Dear Christian Bestehorn, thank you very much for having written a five-star review for the tour guide I provided you with. It is an immense pleasure and honor that such a wonderful person like you has spoken well of me.

“ Tsukiji Fish Market Tour ”

Akio promptly met us at our hotel to take us to Tsukiji Fish Market Tour in the morning. We toured the inner and outer shops - it's a fast paced market place and was good to have someone take us there, navigate the way around since we didn't have much time. Go and see the market before they move!

Dear Leslie, Many thanks for your 4-star review. Please visit my ******* page of Akio Horisaki where three of you in pictures are posted. Thank you again. Akio

Akio was very polite and punctual. However his English was not so good and he offered very little explanation of the sights we saw. It was difficult to understand what he was saying and difficult to have a conversation with him as he didn't listen very well. We wanted to go to the fish market which was not on his usual tour however he did take us but there was nothing to see as it had finished so it was a waste of time and lots of time spent on the subway. As a client it would be better for him to be honest and to tell us that as a guide to perhaps go another time. To be fair He offered alternatives like Ginza street but we didn't want that. Akio looked after us well on the many subways and trains we took. I would only recommend him for 2stars and really only for jJapanese ... read more
