Overview

This tour covers the temples and shrines that house the Seven Lucky Gods in Kamakura one after the other in one day. You can complete this adventure in 8-hour trip from Tokyo. Gathering goshuin, red seal of each spot can also be a good commemoration of your visit to Japan. Moreover you will be able to enjoy the panoramic view of Mt Fuji beyond Sagami Bay at Enoshima, the first shrine of the tour.

What to Expect

I found that people who have already been to the major temples and shrines in Kamakura would like to explore deeper attraction of this historic town. To pay a visit to the seven lucky gods is one of the best ways to learn more about Japanese belief as well as samurai history. As elements of Hinduism, Buddhism, Shinto, and native reliefs merged to create a syncretistic fusion of religion in Japan, they are the gods believed to bring good fortune. Actually, there are temples and shrines that enshrine the seven lucky gods nationwide. The custom of shichifukujin-mode, where people pay a visit to the seven gods around the time of the New Year is popular in Japan. But visiting the seven lucky gods in Kamakura is popular throughout the year. Why not experience the mysterious world of the unique belief? I'm sure you'll appreciate hidden attractions of Kamakura.

“ Amazing 2 Days around Tokyo! ”

Mayumi is an incredibly kind and knowledgeable guide. She showed us around some fantastic parts of Tokyo and catered to our needs. We travelled with my 3.5 year old daughter and Mayumi was able to tailor our trip to include child friendly activities. I will be recommending Mayumi to my friends and family if they visit Tokyo! Thank you again for your time and sharing Tokyo with us. Elise, Sophie and Vivi xoxo

“ Short but sweet ”

Mayumi spent a few hours with me getting me up to speed on Shinjuku and Harajuku. They were extremely informative with modern and historical perspective. The short personal tour helped inform my 5 days in Tokyo immensely.

MAYUMI:

Thank you for your posting a good review for me, Rod. We saw many places that’d be interesting for you in a very limited time. I’m happy to know that you thought it was extremely informative. I’m sure that you must have been a good guide for your mother from the next day. If there’s anything I can help you when you came back to Japan, please let me know. I’m always ready to guide you to other areas. Thank you!

“ Highly knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating guide ”

My 15 year old son and I had several days in Tokyo. To make the most of our limited the time we hired Mayumi for two days. She contacted us in advance and we described our previous experiences in Tokyo and interests (I have been there in the past on business but have seen very little of the city and its surroundings). She suggested some different options including the possibility of going to Kyoto for a day (which we took her up on). Our first day itinerary in Tokyo included a visit to the Tsukijji fish market, the Sensoji temple and Asakusa, tea ceremony, the Tokyo-Edo museum and finishing with a visit to Akihabara. Mayumi has a very good sense of how long we would want to spend in each location and is also willing to change or add stops as desired. She planned numerous rest and... read more

MAYUMI:

Thank you so much for writing such a wonderful and detailed review for me, Steven. I’m really happy to hear your words. I enjoyed answering your questions and helping you appreciate various attractions of our country. Do you remember the tea bowls you chose for each other in the tea ceremony? I thought that was a nice choice that shows deep understanding toward each other. Thank you for sharing the peaceful and happy moment with me. And while our Kyoto excursion, we had a great day as well. I’m guiding a guest to so-called Saigoku 33 pilgrimage these days. I’ve rediscovered the beauty of old temples and culture in Kyoto and nearby cities. If you’d come back to Japan, I’d help you have a deeper appreciation of our old history and culture. BTW, I’d say you were lucky enough to see Mt Fuji on... read more
