Overview

This tour covers the temples and shrines that house the Seven Lucky Gods in Kamakura one after the other in one day. You can complete this adventure in 8-hour trip from Tokyo. Gathering goshuin, red seal of each spot can also be a good commemoration of your visit to Japan. Moreover you will be able to enjoy the panoramic view of Mt Fuji beyond Sagami Bay at Enoshima, the first shrine of the tour.

What to Expect

I found that people who have already been to the major temples and shrines in Kamakura would like to explore deeper attraction of this historic town. To pay a visit to the seven lucky gods is one of the best ways to learn more about Japanese belief as well as samurai history. As elements of Hinduism, Buddhism, Shinto, and native reliefs merged to create a syncretistic fusion of religion in Japan, they are the gods believed to bring good fortune. Actually, there are temples and shrines that enshrine the seven lucky gods nationwide. The custom of shichifukujin-mode, where people pay a visit to the seven gods around the time of the New Year is popular in Japan. But visiting the seven lucky gods in Kamakura is popular throughout the year. Why not experience the mysterious world of the unique belief? I'm sure you'll appreciate hidden attractions of Kamakura.

“ The market at Asakusa. ”

We love Mayumi. My wife and I enjoyed being with our new Japanese friend. Very friendly and knowledgeable. We would certainly recommend her to our friends that come to Tokyo. Thanks for giving us a wonderful time in the big city of yours. Robert and Trudie Sharpe. Melbourne Australia.

MAYUMI:

I love you and Trudie too, Robert. Such a pleasure to be called your new friend. I'm so happy to hear your kind words. It was impressive to have the greatly different weather in our 2-day tour. It was very cold when we were in Asakusa and we had a warm and beautiful day in Kamakura. I well remember how peaceful the zen garden was and how happy and calm Trudie looked while in the tranquility. You were quick travelers this time, but please spend more time in Japan next time so that I can show you even deeper culture. I'm looking forward to the next opportunity. Thank you!

“ Mayumi was the highlight of our trip to Tokyo. ”

We only had 1,5 days to discover Tokyo and Mayumi showed us around in a pleasant and welcoming way. She is very knowlegdable and accurate. In addition she was extremely flexible, attentive to our needs and adjusted to our wishes even if this conflicted with the initial itinerary. But most of all she is a very very friendly, cheerful and pleasant person to spend your time with. Next time in Tokyo we will def book again with Mayumi and we really recommend her to everyone!

MAYUMI:

Hello Josine. Hope all of you are doing well. Thank you so much for posting such a lovely review. Yes, it was only 1.5 days, but we had a happy and fulfilled tour thanks to the warmness of your family. I really appreciate it. We've had cold days since then, but the day we did the tour was the only snowy day in Tokyo. That makes the tour with you more unforgettable and beautiful memory for me. As you know, Japan has four different seasons, which give people different pleasures. You fully enjoyed our winter in Hokkaido and Tokyo this time. Please come back to me in another season so I can guide you even more exciting spots according to the season. I'm really looking forward to meeting you again. Please say hello to Alex, Emmy, Fenna, and Pip. Big hug and kisses!

“ Tokyo in a day ”

We met Mayumi at our hotel lobby in the morning and she led us to many tourist attractions that we were interested in visiting. She also helped us getting the cards for subways and taught us how to enter temples and shrines correctly. She also introduced some local street food that were very delicious. She is super friendly and great with our children. Her English is excellent, easily the best tour guide in Tokyo.

MAYUMI:

Thank you for writing the great review for me, Nian. Hope everybody is doing well. You were such a quick learner that you became like an expert of Japan after the tour with me. I well remember that. I also well remember the kids’ smile at the owl café. It was really a happy moment for me to see how they are enjoying petting owls from tiny ones to huge ones with their courage. I know that temples and shrines are a bit boring for kids, but they were patient enough to learn manners and culture perfectly. I really admire their attitude. It’s getting even colder in Japan. I imagine that you are spending hot summer at home. Happy New Year and May 2019 bring even more blessings to your family. Thank you again and say hello to Tall Tim.

“ An excellent guide! ”

Mayumi was a pleasure to be with. She planned the day out really well and was very organized. She is knowledgeable about all of Japan and even provided historical details on the places we visited. We had so many random questions and requests and she was able to answer/fulfill them all! Hanging out with her was a treat, I would definitely recommend!

MAYUMI:

Thank you so much for writing the kind and swift review in the midst of the tour. I’m really happy to know you enjoyed the tour with me. I learned a lot of interesting things from David during the tour. He has a different eye and I enjoyed talking with him. I was also happy to be able to discover the shop you bought super cute tutu thanks to your request. You enjoyed the unique atmosphere in Japanese New Year this time, but we still have various attractions. Now that I know your preference, I already have some ideas I’d like to do with you next time. One of the places is a popular ramen shop in Kawagoe. The old town Kawagoe has become more and more popular among foreign tourists. The ramen shop buys ingredients for the broth at the same shop as Tomita. He can let my guests experience rame... read more
