What to Expect

Kamakura is a coastal town surrounded by forestry low hills on its three sides. It once became the political center of Japan during the 12th to 14th century as the site of the first ‘Samurai’(warrior class) government. You will find many grand or ancient Zen temples and shrines in this small city.
It's my personal story, but I moved from a large city Nagoya to Kamakura with my family when I was 10 years old. Despite a little girl, I instantly noticed how historically interesting the town was. It also surprised me there were so many atmospheric narrow winding streets and slopes. It was the best site for kids to have a little adventure! Since then, I have been walking around the city of Kamakura with friends, family, or even by myself. I know every corner of the city and its seasonal beauties. So, let me know your interests and tastes, and I will make the best itinerary for you.
- Is there any place you definitely want to visit and see?
- What are you generally interested in, history, temples and shrine, bay view, local culture, craft, food, flowers, seasonal beauties, walking, shopping, etc.?

The best way to appreciate the city of Kamakura would be to walk casually along its narrow paths visiting temples and local areas. Why don't you contact me and share the excitement of finding out Kamakura's beauties?

“ Outstanding pre-cruise Tokyo tour with Tomoko ”

Our family of three had an absolutely wonderful full day tour of Tokyo with Tomoko. She is highly personable, knowledgeable and speaks excellent English. Our tour was conducted under somewhat challenging circumstances in that it took place the day following a major typhoon in Japan, which necessitated some changes in scheduling and itinerary. In addition, my wife has a mobility impairment which limits our itinerary to some extent. Tomoko fashioned an itinerary that was highly responsive to these limitations and the different interests of all of us. We have already booked an additional tour with her at the conclusion of our cruise. We have taken private tours in a number of ports over the years and never found a better guide. She is most highly recommended. Martin S.

Thank you so much for your great review, Martin. I really appreciate all your patience, flexibility, and understanding you showed in the unusual situation. Our fun tour was a result of the great collaboration of us all including our very kind driver. I’m proud of Cindy’s great effort walking all through Ueno Park constantly smiling. Impressed with the beautiful pics Stephanie took as well 😊 I’m planning to make your next tour enjoyable and memorable again, so keep in touch. Enjoy your cruise and looking forward to seeing you again in November!.

“ What an absolutely fabulous day! ”

Had such a great time with Tomoko! She has such a warm, vibrant personality and makes all the information she imparts interesting, colourful and memorable. She took us to taste “the best of” various foods we’d been wanting to try and just wish we could have fit it more! Tomoko made the day so much fun! What a delightful way to see Tokyo!

Thank you so much for your sweet review, Michele😊 I cannot forget your adorable face with pleasant surprise when you took a bite of every new thing you tried! It was just like the good luck hammer you got for sister. Every time you hit (bite), fortunes and happiness pop out! Thank you again for sharing the great day, Michele and Chris. Hope to see you again♪

“ Tomoko is the ticket to a GREAT trip ”

Once acquainted with Tomoko, my husband and I knew we were in great hands. She toured us around the Asakusa area of Tokyo, the Ueno gardens and Sensoji Temple, and Tomoko’s insight was as wonderful as her company. On day two, Tomoko led us on a fantastic adventure to Hakone that included time at a beautiful onsen. We had such a good time (Tomoko included), and it felt like my husband and I were on vacation with a (very knowledgeable) friend. If you’re planning a trip to Tokyo, don’t hesitate to book Tomoko as your guide. Like us, you’ll be so glad that you did.

Thank you for your great review, and most of all, for sharing the memorable two days together, Laura and Paul. It was a kind of accident, but I’m glad you enjoyed Kappabashi, the kitchen-goods street. I really enjoyed talking with you over lunch and at Onsen, which I’m sure you feel the same. I will not forget you rescued me getting off the bus on the way, the relaxing time at Onsen and the beauty of its garden shared with you. ‘Ah Gokuraku, Gokuraku ♨‘(Ah, paradise, paradise). Thank you so much! 😊

“ Family visit to Japan ”

Our family had a wonderful time enjoying the highlights of Tokyo and Nikko, we were so fortunate to have Tomoko to help us enjoy this experience. Meeting Tomoko was like meeting a friend, such a thoughtful caring person, who has a genuine interest in sharing her passion of Japan with visitors. We appreciated her knowledge of history and the fact that she was able to help us navigate our way around so seamlessly. Had fun visiting some local areas and trying the local fare. Thank you Tomoko, we certainly had a memorable time, lots of laughs and we would not hesitate to book again or recommend Tomoko. The O’Rourke family- Tasmania

Thank you for sharing the fun 3 days together and for your great review. I’m so happy that you enjoyed Tokyo highlights and the excursion to Nikko by Shinkanesen😊 I’m proud that Frances walked a lot and adventurously tasted many different kinds of Japanese food! I hope you enjoy the cruise and visiting many other areas of Japan. Very much looking forward to seeing you again, Andrea, and Frances♪

“ Great first day ”

It was great to go on tour on our first day in Japan with Tomoko to immerse ourselves in the Japanese culture. Japan is an amazing country! Tomoko is very knowledgeable about the sights we visited. She is very friendly and helpful. Thank you Tomoko for a lovely tour and making it so special.

Thank you for your great review and, above all, letting me join your special anniversary trip to Japan, Dominique. I was impressed that you had prepared your trip so well. At this time, I’m sure you and Craig have visited many cities and become the expert travelers in Japan!! Your children are lucky! Wishing you have more fun and discoveries while you stay in Japan.
