Overview

One day fun tour in Kamakura, a popular, small, coastal city just one hour south of Tokyo. Sometimes called the Kyoto of Eastern Japan, Kamakura offers numerous temples, shrines and other historical monuments as well as beautiful beach and forestry hills. I will customize your tour based on your tastes and requests. Count on me, Kamakura specialist! Let's find many hidden gems together.

What to Expect

Kamakura is a coastal town surrounded by forestry low hills on its three sides. It once became the political center of Japan during the 12th to 14th century as the site of the first ‘Samurai’(warrior class) government. You will find many grand or ancient Zen temples and shrines in this small city.
It's my personal story, but I moved from a large city Nagoya to Kamakura with my family when I was 10 years old. Despite a little girl, I instantly noticed how historically interesting the town was. It also surprised me there were so many atmospheric narrow winding streets and slopes. It was the best site for kids to have a little adventure! Since then, I have been walking around the city of Kamakura with friends, family, or even by myself. I know every corner of the city and its seasonal beauties. So, let me know your interests and tastes, and I will make the best itinerary for you.
- Is there any place you definitely want to visit and see?
- What are you generally interested in, history, temples and shrine, bay view, local culture, craft, food, flowers, seasonal beauties, walking, shopping, etc.?

The best way to appreciate the city of Kamakura would be to walk casually along its narrow paths visiting temples and local areas. Why don't you contact me and share the excitement of finding out Kamakura's beauties?

“ The BEST tour guide in Tokyo! ”

What an incredible first day we just spent in Tokyo with our wonderful tour guide Tomoko. She tailored our day as we requested to include both some history of the city and shrines, as well as the busy shopping areas and the train system. She has a great knowledge of Tokyo and it was an absolute pleasure to spend our day with her learning about Japan. She speaks excellent English and was great at helping us communicate with locals as we navigated the city. We would highly recommend Tomoko to anyone visiting Tokyo and ready for a great day in the city. Tony & Cassidy - Golden, Colorado

Tomoko:

Thank you so much for your great review just after the tour, Tony. It was my great pleasure and honor to show you around the city of Tokyo on your first day. Thank you for showing great interest in our history and culture. Starting with both sides of Shinjuku station, we visited the forestry Meiji shrine, explored the different phases of Harajuku town including adorable creatures, Shibuya town, the supermarket, and above all, your daughter’s favorite district! Her knowledge and passion about the figures and anime and her artistic talent impressed me a lot! Thank you, Cassidy, and wishing you have a fruitful autumn semester in Japan. Looking forward to hearing from you again😊

“ Interesting and meaningfull tour ”

We spent 1.5 days in Tokyo (on 10th and 11th of July, 2019) with Tomoko as a private guide. In all honesty, we've have been impressed by her knowledgeable comments, as well as friendly and kind attitude. We also appreciate a great deal of flexibility Tomoko shown in tailoring the program of the tour to our individual interests and circumstances. Not less important, she was very helpful in providing a valuable advice on the practical aspects of being in Tokyo, such as using a transportation system, shopping and eating. We have no hesitation in recommending Tomoko to everybody who considers hiring a private guide in Tokyo. Michael & Faina T.

Tomoko:

Thank you for your heart-warming review, Michael & Faina! Glad to hear what I did was helpful for your further stay in Japan. I was impressed by your story I heard at Imperial Palace site. That was very insightful about general human history and the history of where you are originally from. The view we shared at the observatory in Shinjuku is also unforgettable. Thank you again and the best wishes to you and your family. – Tomoko😊

“ Guiding us through our first day in Japan ”

Travelling with family for first time to Japan time spent on first day with Tomoko was so useful. She was great fun, informative & knowledgable. Had a really good day. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.

Tomoko:

Thank you for the great review, Nick. I’m glad the guiding on your first day in Tokyo was helpful for you to map out your whole stay with special purpose. It was a very hot day, but I won’t forget the taste of refreshing gelato shared with you and the happy smile of Charlie when we succeeded in finding THAT! SIM, SIM, SIM♪(^^♪ Best wishes to you, Helen, Katie, Charlie, and Dom!

“ Flexibility and Entertainment at its Finest ”

Our day with Tomoko was the most packed and fun day of our trip. She took us to excellent places to eat and very interesting locations throughout Tokyo. It was a very hot/humid day with some rain so she was flexible in where we went so that we were all comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed our trip and when we come back to Japan we will definitely look her up again for another location.

Tomoko:

Hi Nicole and Matt! Thank you for taking your time to write a review and share your experience. The weather was changeable that day, but we did a lot. I’m proud of your challenges about the food quite new to you. I’m wondering where to take you and what to serve you next time you come to Japan😊 Take care and best wishes to you two.

“ Exceptional Guide ”

We spent 2 fantastic days touring Tokyo with Tomoko. She planned an interesting and varied itinerary and recommended terrific restaurants. She was kind enough to purchase tickets for Borderless Team Lab (light museum) 2 months before our arrival on her own credit card so we would not have to wait in a long line on the day of our tour. She also took great pictures of our group which she emailed to us at the end of our tour. Tomoko is a lovely person who knows Tokyo extremely well. We would recommend her without reservation. In fact, we can hardly wait to spend a 3rd day with Tomoko at the end of our cruise when we will return to Tokyo.

Tomoko:

Thank you for your great review just after the tour, Jacqueline. Thank you all for sharing great time with me. You had given me a lot of clues and assistance when I planned the itinerary. In the incredible heat, we did a lot touring Asakusa, Tsukiji market, Hedgehog and late art café, the shrine of success, Tokyo Tower, Imperial Palace Garden, and the digital museum! I’m excited to see you all again and share another half day together in 12 days. Enjoy your cruise 😊 Enjoy swimming, Laila😊
