What to Expect

The tour starts with Japan's countryside view from a local train. Then a 20 minute ferry boat ride will take you to Naoshima.

Naoshima Art Project includes two major art museums in the Beach Area, and Ando Museum & art houses in the old Village Area. Chichu Art Museum is a unique museum constructed mostly underground in order not to ruin the outside view. It was designed by Ando, and artworks of Claude Monet, Walter de Maria, James Turrell are exhibited. Benesse House Museum was also designed by Ando, and you can see contemporary works of Jasper Johns, Jean Michel Basquiat, David Hockney, et al. As you go around the island you'll also encounter some outdoor objet d'art such as red and yellow pumpkins created by Yayoi Kusama.

Wish to have time to relax and appreciate art? Then won't you join the tour to Naoshima?

“ Kobe day trip ”

Mari was friendly and cheerful. She tried to be on the lookout for elderly accessible services like elevators and escalators. Arranged a very nice Kobe beef lunch for all of us. She tried to ensure that we leave with the Japanese experience of the origami - paper folding and showed us how Sake is made traditionally. Also made sure we got on the correct train back to Osaka Namba although I myself almost got on the wrong one! Thanks.

Mari:
Dear Christina, Thank you very much for your tour review. I had a good time with you and your parents as well. Visiting Nunobiki Herb Garden was especially impressive as you had a lot of knowledge in plants. I'm glad to know you got on the right train back to Namba, although I feel I should have taken you right to the platform. Please accept my apologies on this. Thank you again for joining my Kobe tour. “ Mari was excellent and navigated through a 10 hour packed day ”

We were wanting to see as much as possible in Kyoto and Osaka during our limited time in Japan. Mari was great to work with and navigated us through to see as many things as possible in the 10 hour period. At the end of the tour she guided us to our last stop at the Umeida Sky tower. From there we took a taxi because the subway was too complicated for us :-). Thanks to Mari from my daughter and I for great memories on our tour!

Mari:
Dear Tim, Thank you so much for your tour review. I had a great time with you going thru all the highlight spots. I hope you had a nice view of the sunset at Umeda Sky Bldg. When you lost your phone during the tour, I think it was Fushimi Inari's power that it was returned to you safely! Please give my best regards to your lovely daughter. Mari

“ She took care of us! ”

Our family was a group of 8 people with very old and very young members so it was a nightmare to bring them to the same pace and ensure that we complete a full day itinerary. But Mari was very patient and mindful. She adjusted the tour at Kitano, originally she intended to bring us to a house on top of a hill but seeing the difficulty of the older family members to navigate the steep hill she brought us instead to 2 legacy houses that were near each other. She also patiently waited for the members of the group when they were late and looked for the young ones when they didn't make it on time to the meeting place. She was like a mother to all of us. Thank you Mari!

Mari:
Dear Veronica, Thank you very much for your review. Yes, I tried to be like a mother to you! I wanted each one of you to enjoy the tour, and I'm glad you did! Mari
