What to Expect
As we will take local bus from Hiraizumi station, you can enjoy scenery of countryside, rice fields in Japan.
At Takkoku-no-Iwaya, you can see unique building called Bishamon-do. It stands in front of the cave. The construction style looks like Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto.
Speaking of Genbi-Kei Gorge, one thing that cannot be left out is 'Flying Damplings'. Let's try the fun custom of buying it. First, put some money into a basket at the hut and hit a wooden mallet. A few minutes later, from the other side of the gorge, dumplings are carried through the rope. It looks like frying dumplings in the basket. It's fun!
There is a Michi-no-Eki, literally means Road Station near Gembi-Kei Gorge. You can buy local products such as vegetables and local food,mochi at the shop.
If you want to visit , there's the Ichinoseki City Museum next to Michi-no-Eki, where Mokusa-to, origin of the Japanese swords are displayed. At there you can learn about the history of this region and the development of Japanese sword.
