What to Expect

Die Tempel- und Gartenanlagen von Hiraizumi wurden im 2011 nach dem Erdbeben und Tsunami Katastrophen im UNESCO Weltkulturerbe eingetragen. Wir können vor Ort die verschiedenen Tempel, die Goldene Halle, das Geschichtsmuseum sowie verschiedene archäologische Ruine besichtigen und die herrliche Garten-Kompositionen durchwandern. Die Anlagen stammen aus dem 11. und 12. Jh. am Ende der Heian Ära.

Die grausamen Erfahrungen vom Samurai Fujiwara no Kiyohira führten ihn zu dem Entschluss, den Prinzipien des Buddhismus zu folgen und eine Stadt des Friedens zu erbauen. Der ideale Ort schien ihm in strategisch günstiger Lage Hiraizumi zu sein. Auf dem Kanzan-Berg begann er ein ambitioniertes Bauprojekt.

Der Chuson-ji Tempelkomplex sollte die Erfüllung seiner Vision von einer besseren Gesellschaft sein. Hiraizum kam seinem Ideal ziemlich nahe, denn sein geistiges Erbe dauerte noch weitere 3 Fujiwara-Generationen an.

Die Fujiwara regierten 100 Jahre lang in Frieden und man darf annehmen, dass auch Yasuhira, der Nachfolger in 4. Generation, den Weg des Friedens gehen wollte. Die Ereignisse in Kyoto aber führten schließlich zu einem tragischen Ende.
