This tour includes three places representing the very Japan's history and culture. Firstly, we will visit Himeji Castle designated as Japan's first World Heritage Site in 1993. And then, beautifully designed Kokoen Japanese Style Garden nearby. Finally, Engyoji Temple on Mt. Shosha, a representative spiritual spot since the 10th century. Himeji is about 40-minute ride by Shinkansen from Osaka.

What to Expect

Getting off at JR Himeji Station, you will be astonished by the breathtaking view of Himeji Castle. It is often called "white heron." Let's walk through the main street to the Castle about 1 km away from the train station.
Now you are at the main castle gate. Behind you is the beautiful castle tower. You can walk up to the top. You will enjoy its beautiful scenery like feudal lords and princesses did in the 16th century. Now you are a samurai lord or an elegant princess. After the castle you will visit traditional Kokoen nearby. It is famous for its Japanese style garden and samurai residences.
Now you may be starving. Why don't you try Japanese dishes such as sushi, tempura, and Chinese style noodles?
After lunch, off we go to healing Shoshazan Engyoji Temple about 25-minute ride away. Back in the day, Emperors & Empereses and court nobles visited here to feel and . It's still retaining very quiet atmosphere of the 10th century. So today it is noted as a shooting place for movies like "The Last Samurai" played by Tom Cruise. Why don't you sit on its passage way like he did in the film? You surely are a great Busho or samurai lord!

1 Himeji Castle has rather steep stairs up to the castle tower. No elevators. And on Mt Shosha, we will walk 10 minutes in the temple
complex. So if you have lovely infants on your tour, please ask him or her to wait for the next chance.
2 From Himeji Castle and Kokoen Landscape Garden, you will head for Shoshazan Engyoji Temple by local bus and ropeway.
3 Shoshazan Engyoji Temple is located on the hill about 1,000 feet high. Temperature will be a little lower than the Castle area.
4 After visiting the temple, you will again take the ropeway and a local bus back to JR Himeji Station.

“ Kyoto and Nara ”

Shogo was just wonderful. Our group of 4 had a long very busy day. He was waiting for us at our cruise port in Kobe. His knowledge of the train and bus schedule was extensive and with our many rides we never waited more than a few minutes. We all appreciated the many things he knew, not only about the sites but about the culture of Japan. He inquired if we were hungry, thirsty or needed the restroom and always was looking to make sure we were with the group. He took us to everywhere on our list and had us back in time. I would highly recommend Shogo as a guide!

Dear Carol, Thank you very much for your super hearty review. I'm very glad to hear that you all enjoyed visiting historic places in Kyoto and Nara. I really enjoyed not only showing you around, but talking about a variety of topcs of both the USA and the UK. I learned a lot from you all. Hopefully the weather will remain perfect so that you will be able to view beautiful fall colors in Kochi and Hiroshima. I wish you all enjoy the rest of your trip and come back home safe with a lot of monderful memories in your lovely hearts. Let's keep healthy. I am so much looking forward to seeing you all in Kyoto again. Tthank you so much for everything, Carol. Yours Shogo.

“ 3 hour tour Himeji Castle ”

Shogo is a pleasant guide to have, he gave a lot of information about the castle and provided handouts for us about Japan's and Himeji's history. His English skills are very good, we enjoyed the tour with him.

Thank you very much for your nice review. I really appreciate it. We visited Himeji Castle and nearby Kokoen Japanese Garden. After a couple of cloudy days, the weather was perfect to visit these places. I told you that there is a magnificent German style castle on its outskiets, which may not be well-known to tourists. Indeed we learned several things Germany and Japan have in common as well as differences. It was really fun and a wonderful experience for me. Thank you very much.

“ Hemeji Castle, gardens and mountain temple ”

Shogo met us at the train station as arranged, was well organized and very informative throughout the day. He tailored the day to our needs and schedule making sure we were back to the station in time for our onward journey to Hiroshima. He took us to a great udon restaurant for lunch. A great day!

Dear John, Thank you very much for your nice review of my tour. Thanks to your hearty cooperation, I think we were able to visit the main places in Himeji and come back safe to JR Himeji Station almost on time. I'm sorry that it was still humid all day long, and the pathways on Mt Shoshazan were a little slippery to walk on. You all are a wonderful group traveling throughout the world. I really enjoyed showing you around Himeji. Good luck. See you again. Shogo

“ Walking Tour of Osaka & Nara ”

Shogo was great for us. He was very accommodating for us and our 10 year old boy. We were able to explore Osaka Castle and the Horyu-ji Temple in Nara. We finished out walking the streets of Dotonburi and had a great lunch there in a popular Japanese restaurant. We made the best of a very hot day in July and were able to see some of the most amazing places that we could not have accomplished without Shogo. I highly recommend him to anybody wishing to make the the most of limited time.

Dear Ron, I am so much grateful to your nice reviews of my tour. It was my great pleasure to have guided such a lovely family. I'm also very glad to hear that you enjoyed staying in Osaka and came home safe. Your family were a lot of fun to talk with about a variety of topics. I remember your cheerful 10 year old son told me his wonderful dream. So now I'm dreaming. Some day we will be doing a wonderful space traveling with a lot of people. Yes! The name tag on a cockpit is saying "Captain T." Dreams always come true. 100 %. I sincerely hope this tour was quite memorable for your family. Hopefully you visit Japan again in 2020 Tokyo Olympics. See you all, Ron. Best regards, Shogo

We had a very well organized tour with Shogo. He picked us up at the hotel and made the day sucessful for us. He understood exactly our request and overcome our expectations. He explained all points of interest very well and gave also alot of history behind it, He accomanied us onn our tour in a very friedly and professional manner. We can strongly recommend to arrange a tour with him. Thank you Shogo keep going in this way.

Dear Dietmar, Thank you very much for your nice review of my tour. I'm very happy to hear that you enjoyed core Kyoto and came home safe. I think we visited the best places in Kyoto. I'm sorry that it drizzled all day long and cherry blossoms were in full bloom one week earlier this year, with the peak of cherry blossom viewing coming nearly to the end in Kyoto. It was my great pleasure to be a tour guide for a lovely couple. I had a wonderful time with you both, chatting about a variety of topics. I'm looking forward to see you again in 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Thank you very much Dietmar. Best regards, Shogo
