What to Expect

Hakodate is the southern tip of Hokkaido and started developing earlier than Sapporo in the mid 19th century. In this tour, you first head for Hakodate Tropical Botanical Garden, where you can see various kinds of tropical flowers and trees such as Bougainvillea, Hibiscus, Angel Trumpet and different cuctuses. Believe it or not, you can see many monkeys in a hot spring here from December through early May. It's fun to see them soak in the hot spring. After lunch, you walk around Motomachi district, where you can see a cluster of old churches such as Russian Orthodox Church, Roman Catholic Church and Hakodate Episcopal Church. You can also see some old historical buildings around here. Cable cars are operated to take you to the top of Mt. Hakodate, where you can see the panoramic view of Hakodate. Your tour ends by eating sukiyaki at a famous 80-year-old sukiyaki restaurant, Asari. You can enjoy the cuisine in a Japanese-style room.
