After 30 min. train ride from Hiroshima, you arrive at this tiny town, SAIJO. Just follow chimneys and you find SAKE here. In this small town, you will encounter the world famous and time-honored sake breweries. Enjoy waking around and drop in at some of sake breweries to have a taste. Good rice and quality water are indispensable for making good sake, though. This town has both of them. Furthermore, to make efforts to keep the source of water clean, the SAIJO sake brewers association donates one yen for every bottle of sake sold. Let's explore the splendid nature and sake culture.
Transportation fees (you and guide if you want a guide to pick you up at Hiroshima)
The grand Tori Gate of the Itsukushima shrine in Miyajiam is fully covered with scaffold now due to its replacement work. The city government has started to investigate its condition to identify the damage and will decide a replacement or repair method. The completion period has not been set.
However what Miyajima has is not only the Tori Gate. 16 % of the whole island was designated as a world heritage site. The gate is just part of it and I believe you still cannot miss this beautiful island even the gate itself is covered unfortunately. Thanks for your understanding.

Mayumi was very informative. She was good humored. I appreciated that she brought origami paper and taught me how to make a crane, so I could add it to the Peace statue.
Dear Dana, I highly appreciate that you kindly took the time to write a review on the day when you are about to leave Japan. It was so much fun to know you, Dana. Wish you and your family good health and lots of love. Hope our paths cross again someday sometime. Best, Mayumi
We feel very fortunate to have had Mayumi as our guide today. Staying in Kyoto, we could devote only a day trip to visit the Hiroshima area, arriving at just before 10am and leaving early evening. Mayumi was however extremely organised enabling us to make the very best of our time. She also spoke excellent English, was knowledgeable about the sites and historical context and was also friendly and accommodating to our particular interests. The morning was spent on Miyajima Island. Although the famous Torii Gate is currently covered for renovation, there is so much more to see. We particularly enjoyed the Daishoin Buddhist Temple with many fascinating religious objects like the spinning scripture wheels up the steps, groping through the dark cave with the icons and all the little statues ... read more
Dear Andrew, Thank you so much for leaving me such an amazing review. I am definitely fortunate to read what you wrote and thrilled to know that you loved your experience yesterday. Yes, you are right! Although the famous Torii Gate in Miyajima is currently covered for renovation, there is so much more to see and enjoy. I have been always grateful for your considerate and caring attitude even from the very beginning of our communication. Please give my best regards to your beautiful wife and wonderful children. Isabel, please continue your study about Japan and let me know when you return to Japan someday. Next time I would like to welcome you as your Japanese friend, Not as a guide :) Best, Mayumi
We booked with Mayumi last minute for a one day tour. She met us at the train station as we were coming from Kyoto for the day. She was a wonderful guide with extensive knowledge of the area. She maintained a good pace allowing us time to take in the sites and gain some insight into the local culture. We enjoyed her company very much. We highly recommend her services.
Dear Nada I appreciate your great review. You are the beautiful Mother for the wonderful boys. I really envy you as I also have two boys. I want to believe that no matter our age, they will always need their mom...chuckle. Hope you will keep exploring the world with your nice husband and the boys. Wish you and your family good health and happiness for ever. Thank you. Best, Mayumi
My husband and I enjoyed a great day in Hiroshima with Mayumi! She was very efficient in navigating public transportation. She helped us book trains to and from Kyoto, and showed us around all of the JR transport around Hiroshima. We loved our morning at Miyajima on the island, we had so much fun seeing the shrines, temples, and shops. Mayumi then took us to a local restaurant to try Okonomi-Yaki, which is a dish traditional to Hiroshima, which happened to be our favorite meal in all of Japan! Mayumi was also very knowledgeable about the peace park, museum, and history of Hiroshima. We definitely recommend spending a day with Mayumi!
Dear Ann, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave me such a great review. It was so nice meeting you two. How was the Tokyo Disney Land? I bet you had a super happy day over there, LOL. You look like a match in heaven! Happily ever after...... Mayumi
Mayumi was such a great guide for showing us the significant sites of Hiroshima, and explaining the events that forever changed this beautiful city. We also managed to make our way down to Miyajima to see the beautiful floating tori gate and the beautiful shrines and temples there, not to mention the wild deer roaming about freely. Despite our visit occurring during both Golden Week, and the Hiroshima Flower Festival, with a huge surge of additional visitors, she helped us navigate through everything so we could see as much as possible despite the crowds. She was extremely knowledgeable, and very kind. We couldn't recommend her highly enough! Thank you Mayumi!
Dear George, I appreciate your wonderful review. It makes my day. Although It was surely a huge surge of visitors or tourists, we somehow made it thanks to your consideration and thoughtfulness. Deer beer was really palatable for that hot day! Thank you very much. All the best, Mayumi
