Rabbit Island (the official name of this island is Okunoshima) is home to hundreds of friendly bunnies who approach tourists for food. Once this island was very secluded as a secret base of the Imperial Japanese Army to produce lethal gas during WW Two. For that reason, the geographical location of this island was left off the map for about two decades and workers there were forced to keep it secret. It is not known when and how rabbits were introduced to this island. But because of the poison gas development, it is thought that the test subjects included rabbits. After the war, the island restored peace and got well overrun by bunnies to become a Heaven of rabbits.
Please enjoy being mobbed by adorable creatures and the beautiful nature there.
Without a precise pre-scheduled sightseeing activities, this option lets you customize your day with rabbits on the island. Please be ready for the long journey. It will take more than two and a half hours to reach that heaven by train and boat.
Mayumi was very detailed in her planning of our itinerary. She catered well for us including a child of 4 years old. Itinerary included "breaks" or walking through interesting shopping arcades
Excellent 3 hour tour of Hiroshima with focus on the A-Bomb monuments and the Peace Museum. I enjoyed the tour very much and was deeply moved by the visit in the Peace Museum. I can only recommend everybody to hire Mayumi for a guided tour to see the peace monuments. It is truly unforgettable!
Mayumi-san was the best choice for our customized tour! Not only before the tour, during the tour but even after the tour, she has been professional and with a positive attitude. Before the tour: she has communicated perfectly and helped with putting together the best itinerary using the time available and attractions desired. During the tour: she gave great information, respected the schedule, had a great positive energy and a constant friendly smile on her face. After the tour: she made sure everything was in order with the just finished tour. One of the highlights of the tour in Japan! Thank you Mayumi-san!
