Overview

Miyajima Island, one of the most scenic spots in Japan, has long been regarded as an Island of Gods on the beautiful Seto Inland Sea. It is a romantic and historical island where Itsukushima Shrine, a World Heritage site, is located, along with the Virgin Forest of Mt. Misen, and numerous preserved shrines, temples and historical monuments.

What to Expect

Miyajima is a small island less than an hour outside the city of Hiroshima. It is a very romantic and relaxing place. It is most famous for its giant torii gate, which at high tide seems to float on the water. The sight is ranked as one of Japan's three best views.
you can walk around Miyajima to see Itsukushima shrine, in the public's mind. Like the torii gate, the shrine's main buildings are built over water, Five story pagoda and Buddist hall.
you can also visit Daishoin temple, one of the most important temples of Shingon Buddhism. It features a variety of buildings, statues and other religious objects for visitors to admire.
There are also wild deer on the island that have become accustomed to people. In the day the deer wander around the island.
Oyster landed in Hiroshima is very big and thick tasty, and Hiroshima is the number one of landing of oysters in Japan. There are some oyster shops that serve grilled oysters and vinegared fresh oysters to visitors in the Miyajima Island.
Okonomiyaki is the most famous as Hiroshima soul food, cooked with superposition of cabbage, bean sprouts, pork, egg and noodles, which is soba or udon, on thin flour dough spread like crepe.

“ Kazumi is a gem! ”

My husband and I just completed a wonderful half-day tour of Hiroshima with Kazumi. She is extremely knowledgeable, has excellent English, accommodated all of our requests for sights to see and transportation, responded promptly with suggestions while we were negotiating the tour, and to top it off, took us to a fun Japanese restaurant for the local Hiroshima lunch of okonomiyaki pancake. We never would have found this restaurant on our own! Thanks Kazumi for a great day! You are A+++++++++++!

Kazumi:

It was nice to meeting to you both, Janet and Bill! It was a lovely day from the beginning. It was a good coincidence you know where I used to live in the State. I am so glad I could share my knowledge with you. It was only a 4 hour tour but I will never forget you. Hope you have a great time in Korea and rest of your trip. Thank you. Kazumi

“ Great family day in Hiroshima ”

Family day trip: Kazumi met us at the train station in the morning. We tok a local train (20 min) + boat (7 min) to the sacred island (Memorial). Beautiful place with shrines, temple, pagoda - lots of history from our excellent guide. Wild deer (very friendy animals) followed us in the streets, the kids love it. A beautiful and peaceful place. Sakura flowers in the spring and maple trees turning colors in the fall. After a great lunch on the island (large vegetable cabbage/egg pancakes with meat/shrimp and saucetopping, very tasty) we went back to Hiroshima city. We visited the place the bomb was dropped (550 meters above us), then different memorial parks with both art and sculptures. Kazumi told many stories, very knowlegdeable and sweet. The end stop was the Hiroshima Muse... read more

“ Hiroshima and Miyajima ”

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Kazumi around Hiroshima and Miyajima Island. She was on time, kind, and very knowledgeable about her location and material. Tour was given in English and we enjoyed her company during the tour and the lunch she took us to. My friends and I all would recommend her to anyone looking to visit Hiroshima, having her as a guide allowed us to get far more out of both historical sites.

Kazumi:

Thank you for your lovely review! I am glad you enjoyed my tour. I could learn what young people are interested in now. I had a great time with you all and felt like I am twenties! Please say hi to your friends. Loves, Kazumi

“ A wonderful day in Hiroshima with Kazumi ”

From the start, Kazumi was a great guide. She was very flexible about where and how to meet me. She seemed to have a good plan for the day, and was very flexible and proactive in modifying it once she understood my particular interests -- I like shrines and temples, so we focused on those. Her knowledge about the history and culture of the area was impressive. Overall, the day was an excellent value, and thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you, Kazumi

Kazumi:

Hi Theresa Thank you for your review. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed my tour and had a safe journey back to Seattle. It was my pleasure to share a day with you. I hope you can keep travelling the world. Thank you and take care. Kazumi
