First up, I bring you to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. Hiroshima is well known as the first city in the world history, that was atomic bombed. You may walk and drop by at many spots built to commemorate those who perished in those days and learn more at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. After that study tour, we roam around Central Hiroshima (the busiest street for shopping) and finally arrive at Okonomiyaki restaurant for early supper. Okonomiyaki is Hiroshima's soul food; a savory pancake filled with chopped vegetables, meat, sea food, noodle, egg and whatever you want, even cheese... Actually this is the origin of the name of Okonomiyaki, since Okonomi literally means "as you like" and yaki means grilled. Fun to see how to make on a huge iron plate and exciting to eat with a special tool (Kote). Just give it a try.read more

The grand Tori Gate of the Itsukushima shrine in Miyajiam is fully covered with scaffold now due to its replacement work. The city government has started to investigate its condition to identify the damage and will decide a replacement or repair method. The completion period has not been set.
However what Miyajima has is not only the Tori Gate. 14 % of the whole island was designated as a world heritage site. The gate is just part of it and I believe you still cannot miss this beautiful island even the gate itself is covered unfortunately. Thanks for your understanding.

Dear Lynne, Appreciate the good review. I am so glad you enjoyed the tour and it was my pleasure spending the time with you all. Have a pleasant and relaxing day! It is raining out.... Best, Mayumi.
Mayumi took care of all our needs, specially our vegetarian food. She was flexible, patient and very soft spoken and had great knowledge about the aftermath of the bombing. Highly recommended.
Dear Lalit, Thank you very much for a good review. I really enjoyed spending time with you all. Wish you and your family good health and happiness. Best, Mayumi
Excellent! She custom created a half day trip for us as we only had 1 day in Hiroshima. She worked to give us the maximum experience and took all the guess work out of travel! Highly recommend. She did a wonderful job.
Dear Arianna, Thank you so much for the awesome review. Yes!(chuckle), since you first contacted me saying you would like to start the tour to the remote island from 1 PM, it became my big issue...how to manage the time. I worked hard to meet your expectations. And finally we made it, didn't we? You could stay there only for one and a half hours, though. You all really looked happy enjoying your time with bunnies, which surely made my day! Thank you again, Arianna! Give my best regards to your nice fiance and girl friends. Keep smiling! Mayumi
Mayumi was punctual, friendly and a great guide., with excellent English skills. She met us at our ship and took us to the Peace Museum and surrounding sights. After this great part of the tour, we took public transportation to the island of Miyajima and the Itsukushima Shrine and a great local lunch at Mayo-Chan which was a real hidden gem. We then took a speed boat ride back to the SilverSea. Really a great day in Hiroshima. I would recommend a tour with Mayumi in a heartbeat.
