Overview

Hakone is very popular for one day trip from Tokyo. We will take a Shinkansen from Tokyo to Odawara and a mountain train, a rope way and cruise Lake Ashi by the Pirate ship to enjoy its various scenery. Hakone is famous for hot spring public baths, you can try one if you want. If you are lucky, you can enjoy the magnificent view of Mt. Fuji.

What to Expect

We will use the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Odawara which is the easiest way to visit Hakone.
It is very impressive to observe the Shinkansen passing by the station without slowing down.
After an hour ride of a mountain train enjoying the view of mountains, we will arrive at Gora park where you can try tea ceremony if you want.
Then, we will ride a rope way to visit Owakudani where you will see the volcanic activity of Hakone.
Continuing to ride the rope way, we will arrive at Lake Ashi where we will enjoy a cruising with the Pirate ship.
If we can see Mt.Fuji, I can take you to the summit of Mt.Koma by the other rope way to enjoy the best view of Mt.Fuji if you want.
You may not be able to see Mt. Fuji, due to the weather condition, but you can still enjoy the beautiful scenery of the nature.
Hakone is famous for hot spring bathes, if you want, I can take you to a nice hotel where you can use a private bath.

I've got the license of tour guide in English in 2013. Since then I attended a volunteer group which is providing a tour in the Imperial Palace East Gardens that used to be Edo castle. I guided more than fifty times in the garden as a volunteer and have deep knowledge of Japanese history and culture.
I was born and grew up in Yokohama and I visited many places with my family. I used to work in Tokyo for more than 20 years. I have more than 20 tours to Hakone and Lake Kawaguchi and have been improving my tour. Therefore, I am sure that I can provide you the most impressive tour around Tokyo. It will be my great pleasure to help you to enjoy your stay in Japan. See you in my tours!! read more

“ Hakone Tour ”

Yuki was our guide for Hakone (departing from Tokyo by Shinkansan). About half way through the tour we had stormy weather that resulted in the "ropeway" being cancelled. Thank goodness Yuki was there to figure out how to continue on our journey to Lake Ashi by local bus. This would have been very tricky without a knowledgeable guide. We stayed overnight in Hakone while Yuki headed back to the Tokyo area. He made sure that we had instructions on how to proceed to Kyoto on our own the next morning. I would recommend Yuki for his excellent English and his efficient manner.

“ BIRTHDAY TRIP @ HAKONE ”

He is smart and patient. He was super helpful especially when we needed to retrieve our bags left at the Shinkansen train. He is honest. What should I expect on our trip was been discussed in our emails. Specifically, the value of our Hakone trip with Yuki-san is cheaper than other tourist guide.

“ Recommendation for Yuki ”

Yuki met us in Tokyo and traveled with us to Hakone. While Sunday is an extremely busy day for Hakone Yuki strategically found a way to avoid standing in lines by timing where we went at optimum times. He was informative answering our questions about Japanese culture and society. We returned rather late in the day and Yuki was extremely generous with his time spending around 10 hours with us. He even offered to take us back to our hotel on the train, although we told him it was not necessary. We highly recommend Yuki as a competent and informative guide.

“ Day trip to Harkone ”

We did a day trip to Harkone with Yuki. The day was excellent and we go to do lots of different things. We added an extra couple a few days before the trip. The only thing was the itinerary that Yuki gave me was not the one we did on the day. My partner and I really wanted to do a tea ceremony and i explained several times that this was the highest priority. On the train to Harkone Yuki explained all the different things we can do and i reminded him this was the most important. By mid afternoon i asked about the tea ceremony and where we were doing it and he told me it was too late and we were going to miss out. The first half of the day was great but after that we seemed to be running late for everything and rushed through. When we got to the area with the black eggs we had literally 5 mins to look around and then jump on a bus. I feel like the day should have been better planned out and Yuki should have explained if we do one thing we can't do another. He also changed the start time of the day the night before.

“ Great family day out in Hakone ”

Yuki was meticulously prepared for our day trip to Hakone with our 1 year-old daughter. He had thought ahead of where we could stop and take our time so she could sleep etc. The tour itself was great fun, with Yuki sharing the history of Hakone, Lake Ashinoko, Mt Fuji and the surrounds. We had time to explore both of the cable cars/ropeways and take some fantastic photos of Mt Fuji. We highly recommend Yuki as a tour guide

“ Friendly and helpful guide ”

Yuki was very helpful in guiding us to visit Hakone to see Mount Fuji. Although the weather conditions prevented us from going on the monorail or boat, he had a backup plan which still allowed us to see a great view of Fuji from the Japanese Painting Museum. He went out of his way to reserve a restaurant for us for dinner and made it easy to find our way around and book transportation for the the trip. I would definitely recommend booking with Yuki if you would like someone who is friendly, well-mannered and considerate of your needs.

“ Friendly & helpful ”

We had a nice trip to Hakone with Yuki. He made sure we managed to get on all the rides we wanted before sunset. We wouldn't have been able to achieve that on our own as it was winter and the sun sets much earlier. Yuki is a responsible and helpful guide.

“ Tokyo, Hakone, Kamakura ”

Yuki was our guide for four days. He took us to really interesting places and he also took into consideration our tempo and what we wanted out of our time here, which made it all the more enjoyable. I strongly recommend him!
