You will be able to find the historical importance of the Heritage for various aspects including Silk Mill technology, advanced architecture and Japanese women lavor history and tremendous efforts & result by them for the technology improvement.
The main criteria registered as World heritage are as follows.

1. Tomioka Silk Mill had contributed a lot to the silk industry in the world. The high quality of raw silk and the silk warm breeding technology had spread over the world and contributed the world wide silk industry expansion. The plant was the largest size of silk plant at the time-flame which is 140 meter length,12 meter breadth and 12 meter hight. After the factory be privatized, this Silk Mill technology finally had become the world leading technology and had produced the Silk products as world number one volume until this factory had ceased to operate in 1987.

2. The architecture of the plant has been completely reserved without damage from the year of 1872 when this plant was built with using most advanced architectural technology applied to this plant.
Followings are key technology applied.

a) Fairly large scale of silk stock space was required for the silk stock building. Due to establishment of this large scale space, this plant had survived for
around 110 years from 1872 to 1987. All the space inside this plant silk produced required the construction without pillars. To achieve the subject,
the new construction method imported from France was applied.
b) This silk production need huge volume of water stocked. Therefore, large size of tank which can stock water of 400 liter was manufactured using iron.
This is the beginning of iron usage for modernized industry.
c) The wall of plant building is made by red brick and that of roof is by Japanese tile. This style is combination of western and Japanese construction method
which is called timber frame brick construction. This construction load the weight of the building to pillars and beams. To achieve reliable tolerance of this building,
all kinds of materials are quickly prepared from the local area of Gunma and executed many trials for those.

3. The labor environment in Tomioka Silk Mill was good condition for female that was rare case in the world that is one of the criteria selected as World heritage.
Seven days working system with one day off on Sunday and 8 hours working time per day and 10 days vacation for each summer and New year’s were applied as t
he female working condition which was introduced from France. The fee of foods and boarding were paid by the plant.
As shown above, Tomioka Silk Mill is not the tour spot that provide beautiful landscape, brilliant & gorgeous architecture and easy understanding traditional history. However, this show very important value of historical and technical view points and after you understand the value, you will be very much impressed for this Tomioka Silk Mill.

“ One Day Tokyo Tour Experience ”

There's six of us in the group and it's our 16th day in Japan. Tokyo is the last place we will visit and we're all excited because Tokyo is a famous city. The excitement turned into disappointment because we booked five tours with TripleLights and our previous guides were excellent, fun, and organized. We have a comparison and Kashima was not prepared compared to those other guides. Many times, he will tell us to wait and step aside on the streets and he will asked for directions at the Train Information Desk. He barely communicated with us and will not offer to take us pictures. We had a hard time looking for lunch and there was a miscommunication with the waiter when I requested for a fork. He served each one of us a bottle of Coke. I know it's not Kashima's fault, but if he will just sp... read more

Angelina san, Thank you very much for your honest and helpful review for me and selecting me as a guide for you precious tour. I am so sorry that I could not have your tour be memorable and make you feel boring due to my insufficient supporting for your tour. One thing I need to make sure is that our original agreed tour plan was Tsukiji market, Asakusa, Tokyo cruising, Hamarikyu garden, Meiji shrine and Shibuya crossing. On the tour day, according to your latest request to avoid cruising and temples, we skipped Tokyo-cruising, Hamarikyu garden and Meiji shrine, instead we visited Rikugien garden. I can be anytime flexible to change the tour plan according to customers request. However, at this time I could not well support for the change of the plan for you. Because I learned that I nee... read more

“ Five Days to Remember ”

My wife and I just completed a wonderful week in Japan. Because we knew basically what cities we wanted to visit and knew we didn't want a "cookie cutter" tour experience, we reached out to Kashima to create a truly once in a lifetime experience. He was always prepared, punctual, and just plain fun to be with. We not only found a great tour guide, but we found a new friend. If you want to "do it right," see Japan with a real professional. See Japan with Kashima and Triple Lights!

KASHIMA:

Bob san, Thank you very much for your great and utmost review for me. I am very much impressed that one of your primary purpose to come to Japan is to remember the places where you had lived in Japan during your childhood around 60 years ago with getting fantastic experience. I am pleased that I could support you to remind your memories in Yokohama Honmoku area where you had lived. Also, during the 5 days tour, we visited Kamakura, Hakone, Osaka and Kyoto. We could make open mind comunication with you and your wife each other just after we met on the tour starting day and could exchange many kinds of topics with enjoying. I am looking forward to meeting with you again in near future. Thanks, Kashima
