Takayama flourished as a merchant town since the Tokugawa ruling. Old merchant houses remain in Sannomachi district. The latticework windows are painted black Bengara color. The Takayama morning markets are held at two places every day. one is at the open space in front of Takayama Jinya, and the other is along the Miyagawa river side. “ Great half day tours of Kanazawa and Shirakawa-go ”

Very extremely knowledgeable and patient tour guide. Packed the two half day tours as much as he could while accommodating our little 5 year old. Omicho market and Kenroku-en Garden were very interesting at Kanazawa. Shirakawa-go was beautiful in winter - the gassho style farmhouses showed why the architecture was such in heavy snow.

“ A enjoyable day in Kanazawa ”

Takeshi is very friendly ,well prepared and very informative. The one day tour in Kanazawa coverd the most of sightseeings without rushing around in a beautiful day. Learning the making of the "gold leaf" , touring Higashi Chaya district, castle, garden and contemporary museum are all memorable, even the lunch at omi-cho market is very enjoyable. The sightseeings in Kanazawa are easyly accessible by the loop bus.

Takashi:
Dear William, Thank you very much for your wonderful comment to my guide service. I am really happy to know that all the places we visited remain as very fond memories of Kanazawa in you. Kanazawa is known as gastronomic city, too. I remember we had a lunch at nice shushi restaurant at Omicho market. Thank you very much again. Kind regards, Takashi

“ Extremely informative and accommodating guide! ”

Throughout my travels in Japan I had 3 different guides and Takashi was by far the best! He knew everything about the subject matter as well as had answers for our many questions about geography, demographics, culture etc. Next I am back I will definitely look Takashi up for another great time.

Takashi:
Dear Matthew, Thank you very much for your wonderful comment on my guide service. Your comment encourages me greatly to continue my guide service in 2017. We visited Kenrokuen Garden, one of the three most famous gardens in Japan, Kanazawa castle and so on in the morning. We visited Shirakawago ( World Heritage site ) in the afternoon. We went up the observation point, Kanda-ke Gassho farmhouse and strolled the village. I am really happy to know that you enjoyed the tour with me. Kind regards, Takashi

Shirakawago village was designated as UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995. There are 60 Gassho-Zukuri farmhouses and about 40 Gassho-style storages. The shape of big slanted roofs resembles in the gesture of bringing arms and hands together in prayer. This gesture is called Gassho in Japanese. We visit observation point, a typical Gassho farmhouse inside, and stroll the village.
