Local train from Mino to Gujo-Hachiman is so beautiful and you can enjoy magnificent mountainside scenery through the train-ride. It takes one hour and a half, but you won't feel boring. If you want, you can have lunch while being on the train. Gujo-Hachiman is an old castle town and very quiet, nostalgic town. It has a small, but very beautiful castle and you can climb it on foot. It takes only ten minutes. You also enjoy wonderful scenery of the peaceful town from the castle. After mountain climbing, let's try silk screen printing by yourself! Staff teaches you how to do it very politely, so I am sure you can have a good experience and you can make a nice souvenir by yourself.
In addition, just beside the screen printing shop, there is a small stream which has some beautiful carps. It will make you so relaxed and peaceful.

We reserved Yuriko Suematsu for our search. Yuriko ( Lily ) has a wealth of knowledge as a Kimono dresser and shopper. She was exceptionally well prepared for our adventure and promptly greeted us at our Airbnb. We followed Lily through the main streets and the tiny alleys where some townhouses have been transformed into stylish boutiques. We arrived at our first destination within 15 minutes. We were welcomed by Shinichi Fujisawa at Mimuro Kimono Company. We were completely awestruck by the five floors of gorgeous Kimonos! I put on an elaborate fashion show for my husband, so he decided to try a couple on. We put three on hold and went off to lunch at Kagonoya on Karasuma Street, second floor. Lily had reserved the perfect table with a view. Lunch was great! Then,Lily brought us through ... read more
Dear Debra and Bob, Thank you so much for such a wonderful comment. I am so happy to read your warmhearted long comments. Your comments encourage me a lot!! I am a kimono lover, so looking around for some nice kimono shops was fun for me. I felt really happy to see you enjoying kimono with your gentle husband. I also had a wonderful time in two kimono shops with you. (To tell the truth, I really like the kimono with some lily patterns which Mr. Fujiwara showed us the last moment. You know I am "Lily", right?)😊 I also enjoyed talking about your nice family. I really appreciate your kindness and giving me a wonderful time. Have a nice stay in Japan and see you again!! Lily
I enjoyed two wonderful days with Yuriko visiting temples and a waterfall in Ohara and walking the hike between Kurama and Kifune. The tours were uplifting, fun and informative and I would highly recommend both Yuriko and these slightly out of the way excursions.
Dear Mark, Thank your for such a nice review. I also want to say "thank you!" to you for giving me a wonderful experience in Ohara, Kurama and Kifune. I was so impressed with your sincere attitude toward Temples, Shrines and Nature. There are so many good places to visit in Japan. Please come to Japan again! Yuriko
We toured Kyoto with Yuriko. She was friendly, knowledgeable and softly spoken. We had a lovely tour of Kyoto and a delicious lunch. Ookini, Yuriko.
Dear Dominique and your gentle husband, Thank you so much for such a wonderful comment. I also had a lovely time with you. I was very surprised because you already know about Castle and correct manners of shrines and temples. I hope you will have another wonderful days in Shizuoka and enjoy the Rugby World Cup. Best regards, Yuriko
Yuriko was very proactive in advance of the tour, and worked out the perfect itinerary for us. She even checked out a few things in advance in person, even though she lives almost an hour away. Highlights included a lovely stroll through the bamboo forest, and an authentic feast at a local tofu house. Yuriko answered our many questions about Japanese customs and culture, and made the tour super kid friendly. She was flexible throughout and able to work with our same day requests. Thanks Yuriko for helping to make our trip to Kyoto highly enjoyable!
Dear Kevin, Thank you so much for such a nice review. I also enjoyed a lot guiding you and your family in Arashiyama area. Especially, I felt so happy to see your cute two kids. I had a very wonderful time with you and your family. If you have another chance to come to Japan, I would like to guide you around Gifu, my hometown. Thank you again for giving me such a wonderful experience as a tour guide. Yuriko
Yuriko is a delight to be with. She was knowledgeable of the places we visited and very patient of our spontaneous desires to do things other than our itinerary. I highly recommend Yuriko.
Dear Marilyn, Thank you very much for your good comment. I had a wonderful time with you and your cute granddaughter on 7/18. Especially, it was fun for us to talk with a local high school girl on the train, wasn't it? During the trip with you, I could learn a lot about tour-guide with elderly people. Thank you very much to give a nice opportunity to have a good time with you. I hope you will have a healthy and good life with your family, include your cute and kind granddaughter. Best regards, Yuriko
